Brost Construction & Remodeling

I called Jason several weeks ago to inquire about an estimate for a garage. He seemed enthusiastic and told me he would come over that very afternoon to look at the job and talk about what we wanted so he could prepare an estimate. I haven't heard from him since.

He is a good guy. He does quality work. He does the work as though it is almost his own house. He is a pleasant person. We have had him two or three times before. He has helped us with ideas on how to pavement and patio. We never felt any pressure there. He takes responsibility and he is responsive. His price is fair. I have got some other cheaper quotes, but I didn’t get that level of confidence. He doesn’t pretend to know everything.

Brost Construction met the Pella Sales rep at my house, viewed the job, took measurements, and the two of them identified and discussed how certain obstacles or challenges could be addressed as well as how our preferences could be accommodated. The Pella rep in fact learned of a new idea he could use in his sales as a result of a suggestion that Brost [Jason] made. The window and door - custom made was ordered. Brost Construction handled the contacts with the Pella Store, provided change orders to them, in general took care of our needs, concerns, questions, etc. Brost was on the scene when the window was delivered and work was promptly started. Care was taken to keep the surrounding area [flooring and furniture as well as flower bed] clean and undisturbed. At the end of the day, the job site was cleaned and the contractor [Jason and assistant]returned promptly the next day to finish the job. The operation of the enclosed blinds, screen door, windows, etc were fully explained and tips were given on how to stain it [I regret not having Jason do it]. When it came time to stain, I needed to remove the screen door which by design requires some specific steps. I called Jason and he agreed to come over and remove the door for me and replaced it when the staining was done several days later. While on the construction site, he noted I had a caulk problem with my ceramic tile floor and offered to bring me matching caulk the next day. The caulking was not part of the window or door job and was something I was going to take care of myself, but his offering to get the proper material/caulk for me was very kind. I was impressed with his problem solving skills. If anyone has ever retrofit an existing situation, they will know nothing always slides in exactly right, fits perfectly, etc and he did what was necessary to make it look right the first time. The old window and patio insert were taken away so I wouldn't have to deal with disposing of them. Service is top on this guy's list along with a quality job in which he takes great pride. He's equip with the appropriate tools. And equally important, he is a very pleasant person to have in your house while doing the job. Friendly and patient with 2 dogs that barked their heads off everytime he came back in the house. I will hire him for my next job whatever that may be and I will feel confident in going straight to him rather than seeking other bids and meeting with other contractors!
