Contacted Steve about the job simply because he had done work for us in the past and were satisfied with the job he had done. When I contacted Steve he said it would be about 1 month and I had no problem with that. Steve came to house about 5 weeks later to check out what to be done and said he would be here in about 1 week, no problem. I asked for him to call us when he was coming so we could move some stuff from rooms, he said he would give us 2 days notice. after 2 1/2 weeks and not hearing from him I called him and he said that they were on there way and would be there in 1 hour. Steve and a helper came and set up their saws. They came in to start work and said they would work on 1 room at a time to minimize mess. Steve helper started work in the craft room, Steve left (never returned that day) his helper removed 4 pieces of molding from 1 window, removed 1 bi-fold door from a closet, removed jambs from closet, removed molding around jambs and base molding inside closet. Steve helper cut and mounted molding around window, cut and installed new jambs on closet, installed trim around jams and put in base molding (closet was only a 4 foot closet) This took his helper 6 hours to do and he didn't even put in bi-fold doors) Steve did not return the first day. I called Steve up and told him this was unexceptable. The next day when they came I told Steve we did not hire his helper But had hired him. WE settled on a $ amount for the job rather than hourly rate. Steve's normal work day is any where from 9=9:30 till 4 After that Steve would stay than all of a sudden he would be gone for 1-2 hours saying nothing to us when to expect him back After first agreeing to do one room at a time he had every room started and half finished. every room was in a mess till the finish. If you hire Steve do not accept his helper to work alone not worth the $ Steve will charge you for the job. Steve's work is accepable and worth what he charges. I would recommend paying for job rather than hourly rate. His clean up at the end was not good left a mess in the garage and on the patio.
