Menard's Midwest Manufacturing

We ordered a custom front entry system with door and sidelights from Menard's, manufactured by their company, Midwest Manufacturing. When the carpenter installed it, we discovered that It is defective. The door frame was not properly made so there is a large gap along the door. We can see daylight out the side of the door. Our carpenter spoke to Menards, we sent letters, filled out forms, etc. They do not have anyone come to look at it but instead have the homeowner take a couple of measurements. This has dragged on for over three weeks. In the meantime, there is so much cold air leaking in from this door that our entry is freezing cold. After all that, they said, without even looking at it, that their decision is the door was properly made and not defective! It is a custom order, and therefore, not returnable or refundable! I would never buy anything from Menards again, even though the company originates in my home town. I will drive the 100 miles to a Home Depot for all future purchases, and I recommend that anyone buying a door avoid Menards and Midwest Manufacturing.
