The provider gave us a time that he would be at our house to view the work on two different occasions and failed to show both times.
Description of Work: We called and set an appointment for the service to view the work to be performed twice.

They were twice as expensive as everybody else. They were nice and a friendly person, they were just very expensive. They seemed very knowledgeable and they got back to me right away.

The heavy snow caused a lot of damage. We could barely see the ground for all of the downed limbs. After initially clearing and chipping the front yard, the bucket truck could get to the trees to deal with the hanging branches and broken limbs. While one person trimmed, another pulled the downed branches to the chipper operated by the third person. Their teamwork was very professional. They clearly had worked together for some time. The foreman (who also ran the bucket truck and did all of the aerial work) kept everyone on task and was very helpful making suggestions for trimming and cleanup.
Description of Work: Dan's crew trimmed about 20 trees and cleared downed limbs from May 5th heavy snow damage. They chipped all of the limbs and raked up smaller branches. The crew of three took two full days.

It took them a while to come out and do the cutting but once they did it they were fine. But, they were a little stalled in getting at it. The crew that came out was really efficient. In terms of the work itself, they did a very good job. I think that the issue we had was that there was so much business going on because of that huge storm and they were trying to catch up on stuff. That's the impression that I got.
Description of Work: A storm went through last summer and there was a number of oaks and pines that had gotten damaged and needed to be removed on my property. Big Rivers Tree Service came to do that.

It seemed like an inflated price. The work that was needed seemed to be more than how it was explained. It just did not seem as though there was any real explanation as to why it would be that much money, and so, I ultimately did not go with them because I thought that I needed to do some more research and find somebody else that can possibly come in at a lower price. One of the problems that I had was that the guy was going to call me in advance and tell me when he was going to come over and take a look at my trees. He did not call; he just showed up. Luckily, I just happened to be at home when he stopped by. Otherwise, I would have missed him because I told him I going to be running around and doing other things that day. That is one of the first issues that I had with him. So, he looked around and spent a couple of minutes, and then, he gave me a quoted price. It was quite a bit more than what I had anticipated. I figured it would be maybe $200 or $250, and when it was well over $500, I kind of realized I was not going with them. He was very nice though.

They were absolutely outstanding, I have no complaints. I thought they were very reasonable priced for the amount of work they did. They did the stump removal including the roots. They also cleaned up every leaf.

Dan first stopped by (on a Sunday) to look over the yard and trees. He prepared an estimate and gave a general time frame to complete the work. I did have to call several times when I thought they were coming over and they didn't show up. I think Dan and his crew are extremely busy, especially in the month of August. Then one day they showed up ready to do the work ... unexpected but happy to see them. They all were extremely professional and super careful not to damage anything in the yard. The 4 guys that did the clean-up were so friendly and worked very hard. Dan did the careful work of cutting down the tree and grinding the stump. Perfect job. I'm super pleased and have already recommended his business to several friends. This was the first time I used this company and would definitely use them again. I found them on Angie's List. They are bonded and insured which is important for this type of work. They've been in business a long, long time. Dan also honored the 5% Angie's List discount. Thank you!

I considered the estimated cost of the original job to be very reasonable ($100.00 per tree) and the additional price for the limb removal (considering the amount of limbs removed) to be more than reasonable ($250.00). The work started on the day promised and progressed rapidly. I am very pleased with the results. It was obvious that the crew was professionals. The crew did a great job of cleaning up and actually removed several smaller trees and saplings, at my request, without additional charge. In the cleanup, they not only removed the debris that resulted from the job, but removed a small pile of limbs and brush that I had piled up before they came. Stumps were ground down to a level well below the surface of the lawn which will prevent mowing problems next summer. The overall job from tree removal too cleanup was excellent! I strongly recommend the service of Big Rivers Tree Service and I will definitely reuse their services if the need arises in the future.
Description of Work: The work involved the removal of 12 pine trees of varying height ( estimated from 15 to 20 feet tall), including stump removal. After starting the work, I asked if they would remove the lower limbs from several other trees at additional cost. They were happy to do so and worked with me to determine the limbs to be removed.

They got back to us right away. They were very reasonable. They are probably the one that we will go with but we haven't made a final decision yet. He was a great guy. He was professional.

I was very impressed with his trimming abilities while he was WAY up there in his lift. It was like watching the ballet. NOT ONE branch hit my house. The cleanup was like getting my lawn thatched for free! There is not one branch, stick or leaf left when he departed. He has a cool tree shredder too, having a vintage Ford motor (1959 V-8) with straight pipes and those macho cool flappers. Several times I asked him to just let it idle so that I could listen to it...cool!
Description of Work: Dan came early in February 09 to give us an estimate to remove two HUGE maple trees that were in the way of remodeling and also a hazard because they hung over the house. He gave us a very fair price and said that he would return in the spring as soon as weather permitted. He did!
