We hired Anibas Drywall to repair walls (due to wallpaper removal), fix cracks in the ceiling and walls and to paint the walls and ceiling. We have an open floor plan where the ceiling flows from one room to the next. The ceiling was a major component of this job. When Tom Anibas came to give us an estimate I expressed my concerns with the ceiling and questioned him as to how he would handle it. He said that due to the amount of ceiling area, spraying was the way to go. His estimate was the most expensive but we felt he had more experience and expertise to offer. We wanted the job done right. Work started on May 14th and ended June 10th. The employees were prompt, courteous and professional. They tried to keep the mess and inconvenience to a minimum but the job involved several rooms throughout the house. The ceiling was sprayed twice but when it dried there were shadows. Anibas looked at the ceiling and agreed that the shadows were not acceptable. He told his employees to paint it a third time but this time he instructed them to apply the paint with rollers. Big mistake. After the work was completed I asked Anibas to come to the house to discuss his bill and fix a 3 x 4" boo-boo on the ceiling. He said he would do the work himself. This was on a Monday, by Friday the boo-boo had expanded to a 8 x10' area, due to his mistakes. That Friday he brought along one of his painters to apply the final coat of paint. When the painting was done I was visiting with the painter when Anibas made an offensive, sexist and totally inappropriate comment. A comment he would not have said if my husband had been present. He did this in front of his employee. Then as he was leaving, he told me that he hoped I would catch glaucoma over the weekend. I'm assuming he meant that if I had glaucoma I would not be able to see his mistakes. A few days latter he came to get his check. I told him how offensive his remarks were. First he denied making those comments but I reminded him that there was a witness. He apologized saying that he has a "different" sense of humor. Should you decide to use Anibas Drywall I would strongly encourage you to keep track of the hours worked. I was here every morning when they came and every afternoon when they left. I kept a record of the hours worked. Anibas had estimated that the job would take approximately 137 hours, actual hours worked was 241.25, however, he tried to bill me for additional hours. In the meantime, I'm left with a ceiling that looks like crap due to roller marks. Anibas's business card it says that "What you see is what you get, choose wisely". How true.
