I'd noticed a pile of rock in the gravel yard when driving by and stopped to inquire. I was given a quote on that pile for the rock and delivery, which seemed reasonable, with the understanding that it may be a little more or a little less once loaded and weighed. I agreed to buy and the delivery was made. When the bill came in the mail, however, it wasn't just a little bit more than the quote but over 80% more. When I contacted the business owner he said that more rock had been added to the pile since I'd been given the quote. I paid the amount that I'd initially agreed to pay, and over the next several months I received notices imploring me to pay the rest, threatening to put my account into collection. Finally we agreed on a compromise in which I made an additional payment for about 30% more than the original quote. Overall, I may have come out ahead when just comparing the amount of rock I got with what I paid, but since I'd never agreed to purchase that much in the first place, I felt badgered into it.
