Hottmann Construction

I need to replace a driveway and sidewalk and searched for concrete vendors. I found Hottmann Construction, went to their website and submitted an estimate request through their website. A month later, since I received no reply, I called. I got a message that they were closed for the season (in was winter-time); I left a message to call me when they open to confirm they received my estimate request. It is now spring-time (May) and I still have not received any reply!

Hottmann was hired to pour a stamped/colored concrete patio for us. They were one of the most responsive in terms of companies we contacted for estimates. Several others never bothered to return calls or to come and look at our yard. They quoted the highest price of all quotes we eventually received. Overall, they were usually easy to get in touch with when necessary. We liked the quality of the work done. However, they did not earn an "A" rating because they never made any drawings that showed exactly what we wanted. (Our job included a stoop, steps and two connected patio areas, one raised.) While we carefully explained what we wanted to them, if we would not have been on site when the job was actually done, there was no way they could've completed it correctly. My husband was there to guide and direct them when they were putting in the forms. He also had to lend them quite a few tools that it seemed they should've had on site. Communication between the foremen and workers could've been better. Perhaps simple flat patios do not need drawings or much communication, but our job was too complex to explain to others using only words. We were pleased with the final result and the work was completed in a fairly timely manner. We explained our dissatisfaction with the lack of drawings to the representatives and they were thoughtful and willing to listen. We would use them again.

It went very smoothly. I was not able to be at home when they came to give me an estimate, so after I received the proposal I called to ask questions. The person I spoke with, Michael, answered all my questions and was very professional and pleasant. I had the added problem of not being able to be at home when the work was actually being done. The second individual I dealt with, Ken, was also very professional and pleasant and was always reachable by phone if I had questions. We were very happy with the final product, the way the company cleaned up after.
