The move went terrible. This was my 1st time ever hiring movers and I was obviously an idiot for not getting the quote in writing. Jill quoted me 6-7 hours based on my description and that everything would be packed up properly and beds and things taken apart. She said it could take 8 hours at worst case scenario + $25.00 for the trucks fuel. I am so upset with myself for not stopping the move when I was informed the movers were coming late. I did not because the owner Jill seemed very nice. She really tricked me. The move was scheduled for Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. They were NOT on time by any means. They FINALLY showed up at 5:30 p.m. I did however receive a call from the owner (Jill) at 1:30 p.m. letting me know that her 2 movers were running late. She blamed the prior household for them running behind (very unprofessional). When the movers (Paul and Scott) arrived they stated they just came from a similar job and the 2 of them were there from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. = 8hours. We discussed if they were to start my move and work for the 6-7 hour quote up to the similar job the movers just did, 8 hours, that they would not be done until between 12:00 a.m. - 2:00 a.m. Scott made the call to Jill and she offered for the guys to come back tomorrow with a 3rd guy to help speed up the day and for my inconvenience at no charge. The one problem was I would lose the 28ft semi-truck that would move me in 1 load and would have to use a truck more than half the size that could take up to 4-5 loads (Jill and Scott quote). I was informed by Paul and Scott that Jill would not becharging me for the extra loads it would take to go back and forth from the old place to the new place and if Jill could find a 3rd guy to help move, she would also not charge me for the extra mover. I thought this was all being done because this was her way of showing an apology and not losing a customer that day. Again, I should have gotten this in writing. Seeing that the owner seemed like she was being very nice and concerned for me having a pleasant move, I thought to offer to pay for lunch at Jimmy John's for the movers and to have H2O and Gatorade's available. So Sunday came, 11:00 a.m. and Move It Movers showed up with a 14 foot truck and 3 guys to move me; Paul, Scott and a new guy named Roger. I thought it was going to be a good day. One of the 1st questions Scott asked/ commented was, "Wow, how many times have you moved. This place is really packed nicely". Then Roger says, "You really did your job". So the day went on with the move. It took a total of 3 loads (Nice! Because they quoted 4-5 loads) The first load took about 3 hours to load the truck, drive 2 miles to the new place, unload and drive back to the old place. At this rate, I figured 7-8 hours would be the total time...based on the shorter truck and that about 2/3's of my belongings needed to be moved yet. I made a huge mistake by not staying on them and watching every move. Because 12 hours later is when they were done...Yes, I said 12 hours!!! And it took 12 hours with a 3rd mover. I thought the 3rd mover would help shorten the original quote, not lengthen the quote. I was pretty upset and confused why this happened. I wasn't bold enough to confront the guys, so when they told me Jill wanted me to call her; I assumed it had to do with this 12 hour job. I was extremely exhausted as it was after 11:00 p.m. now and I told the guys I would be calling Jill the next work day to discuss the day and the time it took. I did just that, I called Jill to find out what she had to say about the 12 hour move and to my surprise; she had NOTHING to say except she would be charging me for 12hours at $90.00 an hour. I almost died. That is a total of $1,080.00. I literally busted out crying. How embarrassing. I knew I was being scammed. I had nothing in writing. Not only was this happening, but there was a very expensive lamp they broke, my daughter's brand new twin size white mattress has black skids across one side, they damaged the wall going up the stairs on both sides and the fabric on my couch is also damaged. Crazy thing I noticed after these damages were found, if there was any damage done to something they were about to move, it was brought to my attention. So, why not be totally honest and bring up these damages? However, Scott did mention the wall damage. When I confronted them on the lamp, Scott told me that Roger did it. When I asked Roger about the lamp, his response was, "You're not mad at me for breaking the lamp, are you?" I couldn't believe it. So the following work day when I called Jill, I brought all this up to her and initially she seemed very concerned and apologetic. She wanted to call the movers to talk to them and asked what I wanted to come out of this. I stated, first and foremost, I wanted Paul, Scott and Roger to be completely honest on why this happened to me and then I felt the max I should be charged was their initial quote of 8 hours. When Jill called me back she was on a totally different page. She was not willing to budge on anything under 10.5 hours. She claimed she would be losing money. I don't understand how that is my problem as I am and have already lost money. I paid for their lunch and drinks which totaled $30.00 for the lunch delivery and $20.00 on the case of H2O and a dozen 32oz Gatorades and the $100.00 deposit. Jill ended up hanging up on me as I basically tried to beg her to really dig deep and think about the situation. Why should it take 12 hours to move a small-medium sized townhouse where they didn?t have to pack a single item and only moved the boxes and furniture? Then, when the initial payment schedule was set up, I gave Jill credit card #1 to use ONLY 1 time for the $100.00 deposit. This card is a check card that is set up to cover my monthly bills. I then gave Jill credit card #2 that would cover the balance. She did not follow our agreement. Again, I should have had this in writing. She went and withdrew $338.76 from credit card #1, which left my check card at a zero balance. She then went a charged credit card #2 $545.00. When you total my $100.00 deposit, $338.76 card #1 and $545.00 card #2 this totals $ 983.76. But, Jill said the best she would do was 10.5 hours which totals $945.00. When I called Jill to question why she hung up on me, the fraudulent charges on credit card #1 and how she was going to handle my damaged items, She responded by stating, "I will charge credit card #2 for the total 12 hours ($1,80.00) and then will refund the $338.76 to credit card #1". She added in her message that the 10.5 hours billed was a discount given to cover the damages. I don't have any idea how I got in this terrible predicament. I guess being naive and not getting things in writing is what got me here. I just want to let everyone out there know that Move It Movers is a fraud. They have been very mean about this whole situation. Jill had terrible customer service skills. They are also being reported to the BBB. Thanks for listening!
