I contacted the Manager of Sale and he denied my renewal. I never was told that my warranty was non renewal. I followed all of the steps that were provided to me by the company in order to receive my reimbursement.
Description of Work: I am not pleased with this company. The company denied my reimbursement for a repair (Feb. 2010) in which one of their representative agreed to cover. Eventually, I was able to be reimburse for the repair after I wrote to my local news regarding consumer affairs. I was never informed that I was not able to renew my warranty. In Feb. 2011, I contacted 2-10 to renew my warranty and I was told that my policy was non renewable. I never misused this warranty. The company was upset because I decided advocate for my rights by contacting the media.

I have used them for the 4 years. They responsiveness wasn’t bad. I would not use them again because for some years I have used it and for some years I didn’t. So I decided to go on own but really what happened was that my air-conditioning unit went out this time of the year and I was sitting in the hot weather for 2 weeks. They didn’t cover that but they fixed and had to get the parts that they needed, and had to wait for the ship to come in to bring it from Japan.I had to pay a deductible of $40 per call.

I have not sent in my renewal yet, and I'm contemplating another year with them would be appropriate because my appliances are all old, they came with the house. It is time for some appliances to be replaced. So I think probably another year.

They were not professional and left me out there. The claims person told me false information. I thought that I was going to re reimbursed and I wasn't.
Description of Work: I spoke with someone in the claims to department who told me to find my own contractor to come out. They told me that if I could find someone after hours that they would pay for it. I ended up finding someone and they actually didn't pay for any of it.

They had the best coverages for what was messed up on my house. They're decent, but they seem to go more with the national chains instead of local companies. My overall experience with them has been good. Anytime I've had problems, they've gotten them fixed. They handle complaints, and they do dispatching pretty darn quick. Their prices are average. Anything above standard plumbing and stuff you have to pay a premium. They deliver exactly what they say. They're very responsive.

EXHAUSTING! Frustrating! Infuriating! The defective part had its own separate paragraph within the contract and was covered specifically. The item the technician found to be defective was key to this system?s normal operation, but that did not dissuade HSA from denying coverage and attempting to use terminology (from anywhere in the contract) out of context and applying it to this situation. Buyer beware! These guys are shady, untrustworthy and uncaring. Normal repairs which are routine seem to be no problem (probably where all of their Facebook ?likes? originate from), but have a repair where they would have to endure a major cost for replacement and you?ll probably experience what we experienced. Tread cautiously!
Description of Work: Kitchen appliance issues and called to have repair technician dispatched. Two problems were identified by the technician who notified the home warranty company. One part was available and inexpensive due to it being a high fail item. The second part was no longer available (due to the age of the appliance) and, per contract covenants, would have resulted in the warranty company's liability to replace the entire appliance. This is where they dug in their heels and denied coverage! HSA determined that the unavailable part was defective due to non-covered circumstances and therefore was not going to be covered. This defective item was part of a system that was covered within the mandates of the contract and even had its own specific paragraph and item number. Several hours on the phone ensued with multiple supervisors who continued to balk at their legal responsibility for the defective item. Heavy and heated discussions about their liability went on for days! Cost listed above was our obligation for a service call. This warranty has a monthly fee and is contracted for a one year obligation by the consumer. Be VERY CAREFUL what the technicians say to the company they will key on any terms that mean they have deeper financial obligations and they will attempt to deny coverage. Need a warranty without headaches and irritation? Find another.

Got this home warranty on the advice of our Realtor, later found out they are linked. I agree with others posting her that this warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on. Customer service is terrible. Contract says that septic systems are covered with no exclusions other than deliberate misuse. Called them when we found out we would need to replace serveral parts on the system right after we moved in. The total for that was approximately $492.00. The first person we talked to said it was covered, no problem. Then we didn't hear anything and finally we called and were informed that none of the parts we needed to replace were covered. When my husband, who is a fraud investigator, said that none of those parts were listed as exclusions he was told, "well no, but they are". So, they refused to cover any of it. Lousy company with lousy and dishonest personnel.
Description of Work: None, since apparently none of the parts we needed to replace are covered under the warrantly, according to 2-10. Of course they wanted a list of what we needed replaced before they would make an assessment. However, according to the contract, none of these parts should have been excluded.

Dangling a "home warrantty" in front of a purchaser lulls them into a false sense of security. After all, if something goes wrong, we can always use the warranty. We had problems with the sewage within a week of moving into the house. I went back to the realtor who insisted I use the HSA policy. This time the realtor paid the co-pay, because she was sure the source of the problem was in the house. HSA sent out a plumber who snaked the drains. The problems continued and I complained to the realtor again. Again, they were sure it was inside the house. I paid another $100.00, HSA sent another plumber who said the problem was not inside the house and therefore, not covered, but they didn't refund my $100.00. The first week in March 2012, I accused my cats of missing the kitty litter, because there was a puddle in the half bath. Then the puddle started spreading, into the livingroom, the hall and both baths by Saturday. I called HSA early on Friday, 3/2/2012. They handed me off to Main Street Mechanical, saying they would call in two hours. No one ever called and when I called Main Street, no one answered. I called HSA back and they then referred me to Jake's Plumbing, but Jake's said that no one would be available until Monday, 3/5/2012 afternoon. That meant that we had to go without water from Friday until Monday. When the plumber showed up Monday afternoon, he not only took the $100.00 copay, but also, wanted $140.00 to breach the wall although the leak was obviously behind the wall and he couldn't fix it without breaching the wall. My son came over and opened up the wall. The plumber then said he didn't have enough time to finish-apparently, they only work 9-5- and would return the next day, but meanwhile, he told my son to make another hole in the wall in my other bathroom. The plumber showed up again late Tuesday morning, fixed a pin sized leak and left. I now have two large holes in my walls that I am told are not covered by the warranty.
Description of Work: The contract is marketed as covering repair of defects that might arise after the purchase of a home. It only covers the footprint of the home which is acceptable. The problem is that the purchase does not see the contract until after the home is purchased. The contract says that the purchasing homeowner will pay a $100.00 co-pay for each claim.

It is good to have because it saves us a little money on our claims. When we have a home issue, it is not going to cost us as much as it would be otherwise. I have mixed feelings about the home warranty thing. They are great, but sometimes they say they will replace something when they are not really going to, unless it is absolutely necessary. It would be nice if we did not have to pay $75 just to have someone look at something. They are responsive, punctual, and professional. We will probably continue to use their services.

No work was done at this time. Customer service as they are called. did not want to take our calls , instead they wanted us. to email them. So I did, they got back to me a week and a half later and with no explanation on why they had canceled ou policy instead they just said that they reserve the rights to canceled anyone. Their goal is to make money not to satisfied their customers. FFFFFF
Description of Work: No service was done at this time. I had called the Home Warranty Company on Nov. 2011, to set up an appoinment , at this time they informed me that they had dropped our policy. No phone calls, no notice over mail ,no email were ever sent and I could not get anyone to give us a reason why they had canceled our policy. After 7 years with the same company, you would think that I least a notice would be sent to you. On those 7 years the only major appliance replaced was our water heater and minor repairs on our AC unit. Not a major claim to drop us. This is the worst company and they have no loyalty to their customers. I rate them with an "F"

Not good at all. This warranty isn't worth the paper it's printed on.
Description of Work: I am supposed to be covered under the Suprem Protection paln. There is nothing surpreme about this plan. The plan is supposed to cover any repair to my range. So, after slicing my finger on a crack in the galss of my cooktop range I decided to call the warranty company to have it repaired. They sent someone out to look at it (after I paid $50 for deductable). The next day someone from the warranty company called and said the repair wouldn't be covered since I slammed something or dropped something on the cooktop. That NEVER happened and I told her this. Then she stated that someone else must have done it without my knowledge. Problem with that is I live alone so I guess someone broke into my house just to crack the glass... Appliance repair guy warned me that they probably would say I did this so they wouldn't have to cover the repair. I really didn't believe they would be this dishonest, but lesson learned and all I can do is warn others not to pay for this 'warranty'

Response from Home Security of America Inc
The Office of the President at 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty has received and reviewed the complaint submitted by Ms. (Member). Thank you for the opportunity to review and respond. We do apologize for any frustration or inconvenience Ms. (Member) experienced during the claim handling process. We have reviewed the claim in question for the cracked glass on Ms. (Member)’ cook top and unfortunately we are unable to honor Ms. (Member)’ request for coverage for the needed replacement of the glass. The diagnosis received by the independent service provider advised the crack on the cook top occurred as a result of some sort of impact or external force and was not caused by normal wear and tear use of the unit. A picture of the cracked cook top was provided to our company showing that the glass does have an impact spot where it is clear that something hit the cook top causing it to crack and need replacement. We have attached the picture to this response as well for your reference. Unfortunately since this failure was not caused by normal wear and tear of the cook top it is not eligible for coverage under our warranty. Our warranty is a Limited Service Agreement and does not cover everything. This Service Agreement is intended to provide repair or replacement of eligible equipment that fails due to normal wear and tear; per section E-8 of the attached warranty terms and conditions our warranty does not provide coverage for any failures caused by misuse or abuse. We do empathize with Ms. (Member) and that fact that this failure is not eligible for coverage under our warranty. Although we cannot provide coverage for needed replacement of the cook top, as a gesture of goodwill, because we do value Ms. (Member)’ business, we are willing to reimburse her for the $50.00 deductible that was paid on the claim to the independent service provider at the time the diagnosis was completed. We will process this reimbursement immediately and will send a check to Ms. (Member) within the next 7-10 business days. Again we do apologize for any frustration or inconvenience Ms. (Member) experienced. We do regret we are unable to find coverage under the Agreement for the broken cook top. We do value Ms. (Member)’ business and our records do indicate that although we were unable to provide coverage for the cook top, a previous repair was completed through our company on the dishwasher in August 2011 and we do hope that Ms. (Member) will see the value of our Agreement. Although we cannot provide coverage for every failure that may occur our warranty is very beneficial and provides extensive coverage for systems and appliances that fail due to normal wear and tear. Sincerely, Elizabeth Wright Office of the President 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty Corporation

I was not satisfied with them. The first time I used them, they were okay. I had called them because the faucets were leaking. They had sent out a guy to look at the same. I had received a prior quote from a local plumber for $300. The guy, who came out, did quote me the same amount. However, as the work proceeded, he kept telling me that he required more things. He broke the tiles for no reason at all. After a while, I grew tired of his work and asked him to stop the work. A couple of days later, the inspector visited my home. Apparently, the guy that had come out was not eligible to work in the state. The state building code inspector had been looking for him as he (the plumber) had ripped off military people, charging extra for the jobs that were already done. This company had covered for him and I did not like that. After many arguments back and forth, they did reimburse the money that I had paid him. They said that they would get the person to fix the problem in the future, but I did not like the fact that they were sending out unlicensed people to do the job. I could not trust them. They reimbursed me $700 that I had paid the guy. It was a $1,000 job. I was not pleased with the quality of the work done. When I called them, I had an argument with the lady that spoke with me. The plumber had written a statement, wherein he had mentioned that he had to replace the wall and the tiles. I told the lady that the tile was fine. He had charged me for breaking the tile. The lady refused to believe me and I told her that I had pictures of the same. I told her that I wanted my money back. I wanted to talk to her boss. Then, I got another guy on the phone, who told me that he would reimburse the money that I had spent as far as $700. Their regular customer service was not good. The lady should have referred me to the supervisor.

The HSA warranty was purchased for us by the seller of our home, we had only been in the home since June 9th when we filed our first claim. On Wednesday July 13th at around 4pm I used their online claim service to report our broken air conditioner, it was one of the hottest days of the year. It automatically assigned us an HVAC company and said we should expect a call within 2 hours and if not we should call the company. It also said that if it was near the end of the work day we may not receive a call until the next morning. The guy from the company called us at around 8:30pm. He said he had just checked his voicemail and apologized for not returning the call sooner. He said he could come the next day if someone would be home to let him in the house. He came the next day (he was not just on time, but actually early!) and fixed the problem - we just needed a freon fill-up. He also cleaned out the air conditioner for us. We paid him the $75 visit fee that is standard for an HSA visit. A week later I received an email from HSA which says that our claim for the air conditioner repair is approved and we do not have to pay anything on top of the $75 we already paid. We could not be happier with the home warranty! Every step of the process was easy and the contractor they chose was great.

2-10 sent the worst, most unprofessional service company to do the work on my problem, Household Appliance Repair of Concord. When I told them this company was rated a "D" by Angieslist and I would prefer another, I was told this was the only possibility if I wanted repairs. In the past 2-10 has told me requests for service were not covered, so I accepted their choice. The serviceman took a week to get parts, showed up with only one of 3 parts he had said I needed, did not repair the problem, then said there was nothing he could do about it. But he did take my $100 check. Upon calling 2-10, I was told they would look into it and be back in touch with me within 24 hours. They never called back.

My husband And I called for service on our Noritz Tank-less Water heater....It was Cutting out about once every two weeks. It was getting annoying So we called. We Told them it was a Noritz and tank-less and what the issue was. They said they would send someone out. WELL..... They sent out a company that doesn't even work on tank-less water heaters, So I had to pay the guy 75 BUCKS for nothing! (that is our deductible) So I figured oh well, I will just call HSA and get a refund. So I called ......They told me I could not receive a refund , that I had to FIND a plumber that serviced Noritz water heaters my self and then Submit invoices and they would review them And If they "Qualified" under my plan I would get a refund in 21 days. >< REALLY!!!???!!! So I said listen you guys are the ones who sent out a technician that didn't work on Tank-less Water heaters..... So just give me a refund. They wouldn't , I spoke to a manager who informed me that my deductable is 75 bucks no matter what happens, Even if it turns out they SCREWED up and Sent a company that had No Knowledge of tank-less water heaters. I insisted that this is A simple customer service issue, "You guys screwed up=Refund " Then after I stated again "Your a manager Can you not see this is simple , your company messed up and Sent out a company that can't work on tankless water heaters and you have no companies in your network that Can service a Noritz heater, May I please just have a refund and An apoligy and we can call it a day" She hung up me >.> So if you got one of these with the purchase of your home , Please please save yourself a headache and either opt up to the 7-star or MAX plan or just check out techs on Angie's list and BBB , you will get better service and odds are you won't get hung up on by a manager, P.s. We also had an issue with a attic furnace where HSA did the same thing , Sent a guy out who had no clue. So much for second chances. P.s.s Oh! and I was also informed by "Mrs. Hang-up" that you can't cancel these warranties under any circumstances. <---That is just Weird. @@

They have come out to fix my garage door and a busted pipe behind the washer. Both times, the contractors were courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable. I was able to get appointments relatively quickly and one came right in the middle of the time they told me, and the other came about 15 - 20 minutes afterwards. One experience I had with customer assistance (during the business hours) was amazing! The other (after business hours) was not.
Description of Work: I've read lots of terrible reviews for this company-- but it came with my house paid for by the seller. I have found myself grateful that I have them, as they cover things the other warranty I purchased doesn't. First there was an issue with the website- it kept saying that i wasn't yet able to file a claim. When I called, the staff were very helpful in finding the problem and resolving it. Though when I called at night about the pipe being busted, the person I got on the phone was clearly not happy to be in his position and seemed to not really be listening to me. Its like he was stuck in automaton mode. When I asked if we could expedite the contractor coming out because a pipe had busted and we'd had to turn off the main water supply, he told me he could only expedite if there was no water in the house. (?) I again restated that there was no water in the house because we'd had to turn off the main water supply. He then filed the claim. I called the plumber in the morning (Allen from Majesty Plumbing), and they got someone out that afternoon. He was GREAT! Very prompt and professional, and cleaned everything up!

Recommend avoiding HSA. We received the warranty when we bought the home, but will not renew with HSA. The first service call they covered in full, but it took a couple calls until they could send someone to respond to an urgent plumbing issue. For the second service call they refused to cover a routine issue (the hose faucet leaking) because it is on the outside of the house and not covered by our contract. The plumber who came to do the work gave a reasonable discount to us for his work since HSA was not being cooperative. (This is after their claim line kept him on hold a good 45 minutes (longer than his repair) and then a good 10 minutes after that to say they wouldn't cover it.) The plumber said his company worked several other home warranty companies. He did not like working with HSA because he always had a long wait to call the claim into HSA. In addition, they seemed to refuse covering more service calls than they covered. There are better alternatives available. So, based on my experience as a customer and the feedback from a service provider, I will not renew my warranty with HSA.

When we purchased our home we just inherited the offer; we did not choose them. They just came with our home purchase. We also renewed our warranty for the upcoming year. We pay them an annual renewal fee. It's not structural. It's for all the appliances, electrical, and plumbing. It's for anything associated with the home apart from structural issues. We have to use their contractors. I guess they contract with various contractors in the area. Their punctuality is not great.

After 6 lengthy phone conversations with HSA, they are sticking by the Sears model. The fact that it is not approved for built-in applications is like the pink elephant that they just will not acknowledge. I am completely frustrated by their apparent denial. They keep quoting that they only have to match comparative features and function. They apparently don?t comprehend that the design specifications meeting the safe usage requirements is the most important ?feature? of all. The cheapest convection model available that can be used in a built-in application is about $200 more. I suspect this is due to the additional features that let it be installed in a cabinet. I would think that a convection model creates a lot more heat and proper ventilation is of a greater importance. I asked them if they put in writing that they are over riding the manufacture?s recommendations and they went straight in to CYA mode and stated that ?we can not be responsible for the use of the appliance once delivered?. On the last phone conversation with a supervisor, I told them I still felt this was unacceptable and I wanted to know about mediation prospects. I was then told that the claim should not have been paid in the first place but they were going to do me a favor and still honor it. Now I feel they are trying subtly to scare me away so I?ll just take what they offer. The main point is, I will have to spend over $200 of my own money just to get the minimum working solution to my problem. I am not talking about an upgrade , but a usage requirement (this would be like them trying to replace rated safety glasses with cheap dollar store sunglasses ? yes they?d fit on your face, but would not be approved for impact resistance).
Description of Work: My built-in convection microwave went out and needs to be replaced. The Sears unit HSA wants to replace it with is not suitable for built-in applications (counter top only). HSA thinks just because a generic trim kit is available that there’s no problem putting it in the cabinet. I went to a Sears store and then contacted their “Blue Crew” via phone and both confirmed that it was NOT suitable for built-in applications.

See the service performed as noted above. I paid $85.00 for the Mainstreet Mechanical evaluation and because of what they recommended and because I believed that there had to be another option to evaluate the problem, I called another service provider and paid $231.00 to evaluate the problem. They determined it was probably a frozen pipe because the used a camera to evaluate which I thought should have been done by Mainstreet Mechanical prior to recommending the excavation and which by following the second service providers recommendations, the problem resolved itself. I called HSA and reviewed what had happened with them. They (Gabriel Gobelli) too, agreed that prior to an excavation recommendation, there should have been camera work done. He also said that HSA was prepared to pay up to $600.00 for the excavation according to the contract. He also later stated that they would refund the $85.00 paid to Mainstreet Mechanical due to the misdiagnosis but would not pay me back for my $231 paid to the other provider because it did end up being a frozen pipe which he stated is not covered in my contract. All I want is a refund of the $231.00 too.
Description of Work: HSA is our home warranty company. We have been a customer for 3-4 years. We pay over $800.00 each year for the service. We had a problem with our septic. They sent out Mainstreet Mechanical of Indianapolis who stated that the only way they could figure out what was wrong was to dig up (excavate) our septic area to determine the problem. The cost would be over $1200 and they would not cover the repair of the lawn/ any other damage.

There is a $100.00 deductible before anything can be fixed and Third General Plumbing wanted the $100.00 up front even before looking at the issues! My water heater is 17 years old (the average live span for a water heater is only 12 years) and all he wanted to do was replace the element! It doesn?t even have a pan under it so if it leaks, it would run right into my carpet! He said all he could do is what he was authorized to do. I told him if that?s the case, that he should leave since he was trying to rip me off! I was shocked that this warranty company sent this company out. You think they are trying to cut costs and only authorized him to repair the unit.
Description of Work: I called my home warranty company and they referred me to Third General Plumbing for issue I was having with my water heating.
