Description of Work: We purchased our home with an HSA warranty included. We have had to use the service once, to replace a broken washing machine. Hold times were lengthy and I had to follow up on the process (as we were not getting timely updates) but beyond that, the rest of the process was as had been explained by the documentation we received with the warranty.

Description of Work: We had an HSA warranty for a year after purchasing our house. The contract cost was $479 and was used twice for a broken burner on the stove as well as a leaking water heater. Both items were corrected but the contractors they use are not the best. They are slow to respond and often require multiple Service visits. HSA does everything they can to avoid paying claims. It is a nice safety net to have but you can expect the runaround, and a lot of wasted time on the phone. If the issue is listed as covered be persistent and it will be taken care of.

Description of Work: My over the range microwave stopped working on June 1st, and was covered under a warranty by 2-10. I contacted 2-10, and they sent a contractor, who uninstalled the microwave and took it back to his repair center. After ordering a part and fixing it, the contractor brought it back and reinstalled it (trip two). So far so good. Within 48 hours, the handle of the microwave broke and completely came off. I called 2-10 and they sent the contractor out for the third time. He checked the microwave and called me later that day saying that the warranty company wouldn't cover the problem because it was cosmetic. I didn't argure that even though I wondered if the handle had been damaged from the trip to the shop and reinstallation; however, within 48 hours, the microwave stopped working again so the handle was not the biggest issue. 2-10 sent the same contractor out (trip four) who stated the microwave was officially dead and need to be replaced. I repeatedly contacted 2-10 and was transferred, put on hold, and told the contractor never contacted them saying the microwave needed to be replaced and that they could not replace it without a diagnosis. A few phone calls later, 2-10 finally received the diagnosis and said they would replace the microwave. They said they would email me choices of microwaves and I could either choose one from their selection, or they would give me a check to apply to the purchase of a new one of my choice. I waited and never received an email with the above choices. After several lengthy phone calls, I was told that they were waiting on a second opinion before replacing the microwave (but they had never bothered to tell me this or to set up an appointment for a second opinion). After three more weeks of lengthy (each at least 45 minutes) phone calls a second opinion contractor came out (service call number five) and agreed that the microwave needed to be replaced. He unplugged it, saying it was probably not safe to keep it plugged in. Days passed. I contacted 2-10 again multiple times about getting a new one, but was transferred, put on hold, and told the contractor never told them that it needed to be replaced and that they could not replace it without a diagnosis (sound familiar). After more phone calls to resolve this problem (apparently my responsiblility), I just wanted to know how to get the microwave replaced. More phone calls. I was told three different series of conflicting information by three 2-10 employees (because I kept getting transferred). I finally received a phone call message telling me to go online to see the microwave that they would install as a replacement. No choices. One microwave...not in the color I wanted. I called back and was told that there were more choices of microwaves, I just needed to be transferred to the department that could handle that (another 35 minutes on hold)...no, there are no other choices but they would double check...oh hold again...they never came back. When I have asked about getting a check to purchase a replacement microwave in subsequent phone calls, no one is ever authorized to get a check to me for a new one. They transfer me to a different department who (after 30 minutes on hold) needs to transfer me to someone else. Today was a new day. I decided to try again. I asked that I be sent a check for a replacement microwave. I was given two telephone transfers, 33 minutes on hold, and told that I should probably try a different phone number because they were so busy. I refused to give up and insisted that the person on the phone try to help me without transferring me again! He told me that he sent an email to the correct department asking them to send me a check to apply toward a new microwave and that I could call the second contractor to set up installation. He assured me that I did not need to do anything else, that I would receive a check, and that the contractor has all of the necessary information for me to call them to set up the installation. I will post a follow-up if I get a check. I have been without a microwave for eight weeks so far At least it was not air conditioning!

THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE LEAK WITH THE GLASS ENCLOSURE, THOUGH THEY DID REPAIR THE WATER HEATER, GARBAGE DISPOSAL AND THE DRYER. THEY ARE VERY PROMPT, IF YOU CALL THEY ARE VERY PROMPT AND CALL BACK TO CHECK TO SEE IF THINGS WORKED OUT.
Description of Work: WE PURCHASED A NEW HOUSE AND THE WATER HEATER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE GARBAGE DISPOSAL NEEDED REPLACE AND THE DRYER WOULD NOT HEAT. WE HAVE A GLASS ENCLOSED ROOM AND WE HAD THEM COME OUT TO INSPECT A LEAK AND TO SEE WHY WE WERE NOT GETTING ANY AIR CONDITIONING.

THIS IS NOT ON JC ELECTRIC, BUT TO WARN PEOPLE ON HOME WARRANTIES AND SPECIFICALLY 2-10 AMERICA'S CHOICE. ALTHOUGH WHAT THEY DID IS TECHNICALLY WITHIN THEIR CONTRACT RIGHTS IT CAN EASILY BE A SCAM AND MAKES YOU RELUCTANT TO TRY TO MAKE A CLAIM. ONCE YOU MAKE A CLAIM THEY CONTACT A SERVICE, IN THIS CASE JC ELECTRIC, TO COME OUT. YOU MUST PAY $75.00 BEFORE THEY CAN EVEN LOOK. THEN THEY CALL THE INSURER FOR APPROVAL, WHICH IN MY CASE THEY SAID THEY HAD TO REVIEW, AND THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT TALK TO US. THEY THEN DENIED THE CLAIM AND WE WERE OUT THE COST OF THE POLICY PLUS THE $75.00 AND WOULD BE AFRAID TO FILE ANY OTHER CLAIM AND LOSE ANOTHER $75.00. I REQUESTED THE RETURN OF THE $75.00 WHICH THEY REFUSED. I JUST THOUGHT PEOPLE SHOULD BE AWARE OF HOW THESE, OR AT LEAST THIS, INSURER WORKS. ONCE AGAIN, THIS IS NOT ABOUT JC ELECTRIC, BUT 2-10 HOME BUYERS RESALE WARRANTY CORPORATION.
