Showed up late on the first day. Lost his temper because he had a bad morning. We decided not to use his service because of the attitude. Charged for visits he stated he would not charge.

Response from HORIZON ASSOCIATES INC dba BUILDING PERFORMANCE SO
This poor rating is completely misleading and inaccurate. I arrived to do the work I said I would, on the day I said I would be there. I did not lose my temper, but did become defensive after being confronted by Ms. [removed member name]because she assumed I would be at her house at 8am, which I was not. Fortunately for me, I did not show up with a crew as 1) The house was not in any condition to begin a mold remediation project, and 2) I was not allowed to proceed with the planned project. When I arrived Ms. [removed member name] did not answer my greeting for some time. She was clearly agitated, she confronted me and said "You cannot believe how pissed I am right now. I assumed you would be here at 8 o'clock." I indicated that while I had intended to call her while en-route but left my phone on my desk. She said to me "that's not my fault." I agreed but she insisted that I still should have called (although I don't know how that would have been possible). She wanted to know where my crew was and I told her that at the beginning of a project like this there are specific protocol that must be followed and that a full crew is not warranted on this day. I told her that I need to collect mold samples and make sure certain areas of the house were contained properly. I also indicated that absolutely no remediation could begin at this time because the house was not in the proper condition as some furniture was still present, clothes were in the closet(s) and some other personal effects were present. When we agreed on a remediation start date, I was assured that the house would be cleared of personal items, and clearly this was not the case. When I indicated this to her she said that her son was supposed to get the furniture but had not. I said I completely understand that things do not go the way they should and using her own words I said to her "It's not my fault." At that point she rolled her eyes at me and began to walk away. I told her that if she was going to treat me in that manner that I was going to do the same. This was probably not a reaction that I should have had but after receiving the verbal abuse from her, I was not going to take it any longer. Ms. [removed member name] communication was extremely poor. As part of the project, I arranged for a dumpster to be on-site prior to my arrival so the [removed member name] could begin to remove carpeting. I was completely unaware that this was not delivered as I had expected and was told. Ms. [removed member name] assumed I knew this. When I asked her how I would have known, since I am base more than an hour away from her house, she had no response, but was still infuriated at the fact I didn't have the dumpster delivered. Again, I made arrangements but clearly this did not happen as planned. There was no phone call or email regarding the lack of its delivery so I had no reason to believe it was not there as planned. She proceeded to get angrier, indicating I could begin in the basement area. When I entered the basement to begin collecting samples it was evident that more containment was needed. Ms. [removed member name] then entered the basement and told me that they were going to hold off on the project because I could not give them a guarantee that mold would not return in their house after I completed the removal. I told her once again (we had discussed this issue on multiple occasions), there can be no guarantee beyond the day I finish that mold will not return. She still, after multiple conversations, did not grasp this extremely important concept the expectations of what to do after remediation to maintain a healthy environment. She did want me to complete the mold sampling however I told her that I would not at this time. I had already been to her house on four occasions and would not perform anymore work until I have been compensated for what has been done already. She began to walk away and told me to send her a bill. Once I collected my equipment that I had brought into the house I tried to reason with her again and apologized for being on the defensive and did not want to leave on bad terms. She said point blank "Too late". At that point I turned around and left her house. I have sent a bill for services performed but have not received any compensation to this point. In my opinion, Ms. [removed member name]' expectations were completely unreasonable, at least with my dealings and her public postings regarding my company have been misleading. As I indicated, I did everything I said I would, up to and after the point of my dismissal. I realize that this is a huge issue with problems the [removed member name]' have been faced with and I have tried on every occasion to be helpful. The problem(s) and solutions(s) regarding this project were laid out, both verbally and in print, in a clear and concise manner so expectations on how the project was to proceed were clear. Again, I did everything on my part to assist them in getting their house back in order. Additional point of fact: there have been multiple contractors, in varying capacities, that have been dismissed from the [removed member name] premises. I'm quite certain all have received unfavorable ratings in some form or another. An investigation has also revealed that previous contractors have also not been paid for services, so there is a clear pattern here.

Tim Reeder was wonderful and helpful and bent over backwards to help us with a mold disaster in a house in Wisconsin after having pipes burst while we were away. Mold levels were more than twice the acceptable levels. We saved thousands because he gave us directions on how to remediate the problem ourselves properly according to the strictest EPA guidelines on top of his own. The post test revealed very low levels of mold much below the acceptable level. We past our city inspection with flying colors.

As a response to the member's recent review of my company, I can only say I wish all customers were like the member. It's sometimes difficult to work around two people's schedules but the member understood the challenges and was a perfect customer. Thanks member for the kind words and if I could, I would give him an A+. Tim
