Services we offer
We build and install stairs and railings for residential and commercial sites, jobs both large and small. We also do stair and rail repairs, remodels and renovations including demolition.
Services we don't offer
The only type of stairs we are limited with are welded steel stairs and cement stairs, although in some situations we were able to do both.
Gordon's awesome. He's a master craftsman and our new stairs are beautiful; very meticulous work. He has very high standards, higher than the folks who originally installed the stairs. He also did a great job keeping the house dust free and making sure we could continue to use the stairs in the evening.
Description of Work: Gordon rebuilt a staircase for us. He removed the existing carpeted treads and railing and installed new hickory treads, posts and railing. He also installed a new railing in a different area.

Description of Work: He built a beautiful oak railing and spindles going from my main floor to my basement and tightened up all the steps to eliminate any squeaking. He did a beautiful job, all went very well and I am very happy and would hire him again.

Every thing went just great. He worked within my schedule and did an excellent job. I hadn't planned on spending quite that much but the results are absolutely worth it.
Description of Work: Years ago I had remodeled my basement and opened one side of the stairway. I never quite got around to putting up a railing. Now that I'm older I have found myself wishing I had one. I had Gordon Crosson from Staircases come over to see if he would be interested in putting up one for me.I had seen his work on line and thought my project might be to small for him - nothing fancy just a basement stairway. He was interested and did install a railing and spindles to make a very safe way down the steps. He also tightened the steps to eliminate some minor squeaking.

After having Gordon help us with the remodel of our staircases (we had new floors put in and needed to replace and match the stair wood to the floor), I cannot speak more highly of him as a person and as a craftsman. He was in our home nearly daily for over a month and I can speak to the quality of work he does and the quality of a person he is. He is extremely detail oriented, thorough, knowledgeable, experienced and truly cares about the work he does. After meticulous measurements and helping us order the proper wood to replace all of our stair parts, he proceeded to install the new parts and coordinate with our floor installer (Tim Webster - also a fantastic craftsman) regarding the staining and finishing of the wood. I truly feel he treated the job just like it was his own home. He even pointed out that one of the posts we purchased appeared to have cracked and recommended that we get it replaced despite the fact that this would likely delay the job (and make it more difficult for him to finish and proceed to his next job)--I have a strong suspicion other people would have not be willing to take the delay and would have just installed it anyway and kept us in the dark. He is a wonderful person and really was never a bother despite being in our house near daily for about a month. Some could argue that he works slowly, but if you see the quality and care he puts into his work, I think it's pretty evident that it's worth it. His schedule is often quite tight as he does the work himself, so if you have a stair project, I recommend you talk to him as soon as possible.
Description of Work: Replaced all the former rails, poles and endcaps on our 3 part staircase.

I first contacted Staircases LLC after a flooring person tore out two of my steps and, not know what to do, left them like that. Although Gordon was busy building a staircase for a Parade of Homes home, he took time out from his busy schedule to come to my house to provide a temporary fix so that we could access the upper level of our home. Gordon did excellent, painstaking work while being very mindful of keeping dust to a minimum and cleaning up as the job proceeded and after the work was completed. He also offered to provide/provided a handrail left over from a previous job. Gordon is a true craftsman, who takes genuine pride in his work. As such, he is currently in great demand. Therefore, if you're contemplating using his services, plan ahead and be patient. It is well worth the wait!
Description of Work: Rebuilt staircase; installed new treads and risers; installed new handrail.

If you are looking for someone to rebuild your wooden staircases that does an exceptional job, Staircases LLC is the Company you need to contact. The steps are perfect in appearance and no squeaks when you walk up therm. Gordon takes his time to make sure that you are overly satisfied with the results. He had to replace the spindles but we asked him to reuse the posts and rosettes. The result was incredible. We have received numerous compliments on how elegant our foyer looks with the addition of a wooden staircase. Well worth the cost and time.

Gordon helped us complete some finishing touches on our basement finishing project. We had done most of the trim work ourselves, but ran into trouble when it came to doing the trim around the stairs. The original builder hadn't left enough space in some places along the stringers to install skirt board along the stairs, and we were completely over our heads not knowing how to proceed. Gordon came out and expertly fixed the issue and installed the skirt board. While here, he also helped us with other finishing touches to the trim work, including installing some wood ledges, mitering a few remaining pieces of baseboard, etc. The quality of work and attention to detail were superb, and he was a pleasure to work with. The reason we went with Gordon over the other companies we called was that he was conscientious of keeping our costs down. His hourly fee was similar to his competitors, but he was willing to work with us rather than his own assistant. Thus, we could help with more manageable aspects of the project, instead of paying for a second person's labor. He also suggested working one very long day to get everything done rather than breaking it into multiple trips, which worked perfectly with our project timeline.
Description of Work: Trim work for basement finishing project, including installation of skirt board along ill-fitting existing staircase, installing some wood ledges, baseboard.

It took about 10 days for the old staircase and old paneling removed. Drywall was installed and then the stairs. We live in an old home and the walls were not square. Gordon adjusted each and every stair to fit the space. His attention to detail was amazing. He built the staircase first, then installed the balcony rail, the landing floor and the handrail.
Description of Work: Gordon built a new staircase in our home. The workmanship is flawless, the staircase is beautiful. In addition, he built a new balcony rail that is a replica of the old one he removed. The overall look is simply beautiful.

First, Gordon gave me a quote for his supplies and labor. For this job, he preferred that the customer purchase the supplies (which is nice for me, as it cuts out a middleman charge). So he walked me through the process of ordering supplies, gave me a point of contact at a millwork house, and suggested what in the brochures would work well in my house both in terms of size constraints and general aesthetics. He made sure the ordering process went smoothly and that I would get everything I need. I applied a few coats of finish on all the woodwork (with some suggestions by Gordon) and gave him a call when I was done. It took him a full work day for installation. Cleanup was thorough. The work looks great. He knows his stuff, offered lots of options and lots of suggestions. I definitely got what I wanted, and the price was worth it.
Description of Work: Installed balasters, railing and end posts (newels) along an approx. 10 foot hallway running adjacent to a stairwell.

He is a master wood-worker, measuring so he could prepare parts of the stairs offsite, and then completing the fine tuning in our driveway as needed. The old stairs were uneven, too steep, and composed of several older cobbled-together sets of stairs. (Our house was built in 1928.) And although they're now still strictly "not up to current code" b/c of lacking headspace, he made them both beautiful and functional. He worked well with the others on our job (another carpenter and the floor installer), and his work even impressed the building inspector.
Description of Work: Gordon totally replaced our old basement stairs and railings, with beautiful oak. Worked us into his schedule to coordinate with all the other construction going on in the basement. He is a master craftsman!

It took him a few days to get the job done in which I thought that was rather fast. The end result was phenomenal and the railings are really sturdy and stable. The price was really good as well.
Description of Work: A guy came out and installed 3 wooden railings for my stair cases. One of the railings was 16 feet long and two of them were about 8 feet long.
