It was a pretty big project, lots of moving people and parts. Jim from Elite did a great job visualizing with us what we wanted and was very knowledgeable about options. Elite uses an online program (also has a mobile app) to layout the plan and track progress as well as handle communication. I found this was extremely helpful for my wife and I to use as we could check on things and add our own pictures and questions. My wife and I now have a fantastic completely remodeled master bathroom and we couldn't be happier.
Description of Work: I needed a complete bathroom reconstruction/expansion. I also added building out a laundry room and some other miscellaneous tasks. The current bathroom was too small, faced the wrong way and needed to be torn down to the studs, expanded and then rebuilt to custom specifications.

Had a meeting setup for someone to come look at my windows for replacement at 5:30 in the evening. Brittany even called to confirm appt day before, I spoke with her and said that I was looking forward to consult. 5:30 came and went, with no contact to inform me of someone running late or wanting to reschedule. Its now more than 24 hours later with no word from them. Pretty dissapointing, if they can't handle showing up for a meeting why would I spends thousands and trust them to be professionals?

Went really well. The repairs to the sill ( 8x8 beam) was not expected so original bid of $32,000 for new siding was sort of blown out the door and cost us an extra $23,000 but well worth it as it will prevent the house from falling down in the future! Work crew was professional and helpful, answered all our questions throughout the process. Getting started was the hard part, waiting for the crew to get to us, so things were done little bits at a time until the entire crew could get to the job. Am looking at more work next year with a new garage and a breezeway addition with them. Was very happy.
Description of Work: House is 170+ yrs old. Removed all old siding and blown in insulation. New LP SmartSide, new sheathing and paper, new rock wool insulation, new gutters. Made repairs to older decorative trim and painted it. Put in vents in porch. Completely removed rotten crumbling sill on both sides of house (unexpected find) made repairs to rock foundation as needed.

The project was completed to my satisfaction. However, I had a little trouble because of the chimney work. Ideally, I would have liked the chimney work to have been completed before the new roof was on. Because of the weather (cold) the chimney repair had to be redone, after the roof work was complete. Communication was an issue as well, James is good about returning calls, but promises to show up on a certain date and time were not always kept. The crew would show up, but not on the day I expected them. I was surprised more than once to find out there was work being done. Overall, I would hire Elite again, because the quality of the work they do, which is excellent. Just be prepared to be a little flexible with your schedule and expectations.
Description of Work: Removed several layers of roofing shingles, replaced with new, including rubber membrane to avoid ice dam issues. Replaced gutters, installed rubber roofing on the rear of the house. Installed heat tape where necessary. patched chimney and poured a new concrete chimney cap.

Jim was very professional during our visit. He discussed options to reroof our flat roof. Submitted estimate quickly. We chose to use a different contractor, but not because of anything he did wrong.

This is a full service outfit, properly insured and craftsmanlike, and they did everything we needed well at fair prices. The fact that our house had a 1948 asbestos roof was a complicating issue, and caused me to do serious research to find the most professional outfit that I could find, one with a work crew that was constant rather than recruited haphazardly. Removing an asbestos roof is highly regulated and expensive by its nature. The crew has to use plastic coveralls and masks (not a pleasure in July heat), the tiles removed must all by tightly wrapped in plastic, and the fee to have the refuse hauled away and disposed of goes up continuously. We elected to have the old roof replaced with GAF Timberline, a good midrange choice. "dimensional" (with an "architectural" appearance, rather like shakes) and with a GAF "lifetime" material and labor warranty (good for purchaser's ownership and transferable once to another owner, fifty year maximum total, non pro-rated). Note that for every part of the roofing job GAF materials were used, necessary for the full GAF manufacturer's warranty. This included proper cap shingles, 6 foot leak barrier, pro starter strips, drip edge, and Shinglemate 30# Felt Paper. It also included six nail installation to have the high wind guaranty, and all new flashing around chimney and openings, with occasional tuck pointing on the two chimneys if necessary. Note that Elite also gives a separate 10 year workmanship guaranty. Elite's bid on this part of the job was $9,860 for a 2,000 sq foot house, which I consider a good price considering the additional costs of asbestos abatement. I also had additional work done on this job, including full passive attic ventilation by ridge vents on both the main roof and the lower roof over the family room, new aluminum ventilated soffits and fascia and molding cover right around the roof line so I (and future owners) won't have to do high altitude painting on this brick house, and plastic rafter baffles to direct the ventilation intake properly toward the ridge vent. I also decided after the original bid to have new step/counterflashing done at the top of the lower family room roof just to avoid any future problems. The cost of this extra work brought to the price to $13,500 total. In sum, my impression was that the roof bid was very good, the extras bid was down the middle, the work was professional and craftsmanlike, cutting no corners and using a first-class crew. If I needed another roof replaced, asbestos or not, I'd have Elite make a bid.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced a 1948 artificial slate roof, with a high asbestos content, all according to the strict regulations now applying to asbestos remediation. Replaced the main roof on the house, the subsidiary roof over the family room that projects into the back garden, and the garage. New aluminum soffits, fascia, and trim cover right around the roofline, meaning I can avoid almost all high ladder painting on our home in the future. considerably reducing the high repainting work that was formerly necessary on this home. Replacement of the very inefficient (and broken) fan and gable vent attic ventilation system with a passive system using the new ventilated soffits and a ridgevents; similar ventilation on the smaller roof area over the family room at the back; other detail work. See below for specifics.

We sought several estimates for our roof replacement and James at Elite Improvements provided the most detailed and thorough estimate at the most reasonable price. We wanted the work done in a timely manner so we could get an updated appraisal for a refinancing, and James made sure to accomodate our accelerated schedule. The crew that did the work was professional and courteous and answered all the questions I had. They did a great job protecting our landscaping and patio and the clean up was so good you couldn't even tell that they were there. Most importantly the new roof looks fantastic. What was most impressive about Elite Improvements and the service that James Hembrook provided was evident after the roof was completed and there was an issue with the existing furnace/water heater vent on the roof. While replacing this vent was not part of the original scope of work, when James realized there was an issue , he made sure there was a crew back within 24 hours to replace the vent in question. I was very impressed that they went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the work they did. I highly recommend that you contact them for any future home improvement projects.
Description of Work: Complete tear off and replacement of roof. Add ridge vent. Remove faulty attic vent. Install new furnace venting stack. Minor tuckpointing of chimney with sealant. Install new venting on lower roof.
