Burlington Fireplace & Heating

Just like one other reviewer, we had identical problem with this place. Must be their business "Modus Operadi". We also went to the store where they gave us a price of $1300 for stainless steel. Paid $157 for official measuring that was to be deducted from final cost. Quote came out to $1680. Very expensive. We didn't want to lose that $157 so we went for it. They installed the top and said we owned $1680 plus for some minor work. I asked why $157 wasn't deducted from $1680, and they said it was. That made my $1300 chase top $1857. Nowhere in the quote did they say $1850. So, we went from $1300 to $1850. Wow! We will never use Burlington Fireplace again, and will tell everybody who asks to stay away from them also.

Customers beware of this company. My wife and I recently went into Burlington Fireplace and asked for an estimate to replace our fireplace chase top. We told the salesperson that our brick chimney dimensions where approximately 2 ½ ft. x 6 ft. and were given a verbal estimate to be about $500. The salesperson did say they would need to send a person out to get exact measurements prior to getting a final quote to fabricate a new chase top. So, after a few days passed after the service technician was supposed to be sent out to take measurements we called to see if they had our quote and were asked to pay $157 prior to the quote being released. The $157 was the cost to have the exact measurements taken at our home. Since the $500 was supposed to include the measurement charge, we paid the fee and then the salesperson gave a verbal quote of $1100 (+120% higher than initially estimated). We asked to get a quote breakdown sent to our email and have the original salesperson call us regarding the huge discrepancy in cost between the original in-person quote and the final one. We never received a call back or written quote. So, buyers beware. This has been the most dishonest sales experience that I have unfortunately ever witnessed, and we feel they basically took us for the $157.

The owner discussed choices, the guys never took a break, and they completed it in one day... it was challenging because they had to drill through concrete.

They went ahead and pulled down the fireplace, They also did the stonework for the fireplace and hearth. Very beautiful job, gorgeous, absolutely stunning. Those guys were working hard and we bought them lunch, They were very upbeat and stayed late to work on this fireplace. Every time they showed up they'd have smile and were a pleasure to work with. Steve, the technician, showed us how to start a fire in the fireplace and how to stack them to ensure a clean fireplace. WE told him that it was something we never knew and it was really cool to see how to keep it clean and use it properly. It is a high end fireplace, and we didn't know you had to burn the wood Vertically. We've been using our fireplace a lkot more, and it burns so much hotter than it ever did. They are a smaller company, family run, but they are really wonderful to work with.

fine, efficient, professional, always available if I had questions. Did have to wait a bit for parts to come in that were delayed in shipping order.

I recently called a technician to replace my air conditioner, the technician explained to me that I would have a problem replacing the air conditioner because of the furnace size . I explain to the technician that the furnace was only 6 years old, he checked the furnace and informed me that the furnace Burlington Fireplace installed was a four year old furnace not a brand-new furnace as quoted. Also, the furnace that was installed by Burlington Fireplace was undersize for the size of my home, which causes a problem trying to purchase the right size air conditioner. I contacted the owner of Burlington Fireplace for an explanation, his exact words to me were "you have the gall to call me after six years and then he hung up on me". Because of his dishonesty, I have been informed that I will have to purchase a new furnace to get the correct size air conditioner for my home.

I haven't used them since 2013.

I visited the shop to see about getting some repairs completed on our fireplace. Old fireplace is what they called a "Christmas and Thanksgiving" fireplace whereas you really should use it 2x a year. We used it constantly. Developed some damage and wear very fast. Old fireplace was 19 years old when we bought the house. I knew the fireplace was bad from three separate chimney/fireplace inspectors. From the show room floor I bought the Eurozone wood burning insert fireplace. Owner came to my house promptly the next week and we settled on a price. Had to remove all the old parts to old fireplace and had to remove the old brick due to wear and needing to lift the mantle higher due to the awesome heat the new fireplace would create. Scheduled a date, and the contractors he had showed up promptly in the Burlington Heating van so I knew this was not 'Sub'ed Out" Took two days to install the fireplace and all the stone as promised. Could not be happier with the end result. Simply fabulous and the Mason who installed the stone is an artist! Recommend fully.

The were responsive at first. The scheduled an appointment right away and showed up on time. They said they would provide an estimate in a few days. After repeated calls over the course of 2 months with no response, I finally gave up and will give my business to someone else.

It took over 2 months to finely have a fireplace

I initially contacted Burlington regarding a free estimate for installing a gas insert via their website, and heard back from them I believe within 24 hours to set up an appointment. Rich, the owner, came out to provide the estimate and was extremely knowledgable, professional, and friendly. He followed up our appointment with a prompt estimate via email. As an additional note, he was running late for our appointment, but I had not only received a call well in advance from the Burlington office letting me know this, but also from Rich as well. I really appreciated this! We had some additional questions after Rich's first visit, so we had asked if he could come back out to our home, and he was more than happy to do so. Again he was running a bit late, but that was totally fine since he gave me a call to let me know this. It was very easy to set up the appointment for the installation. The three guys who came out to do the work were on time (I received a call about an hour before they arrived letting me know they were on their way), very professional, extremely friendly (they were so sweet with our 2.5 year old son), knowledgable, kept everything very clean, and did their work very efficiently. The insert itself is absolutely beautiful! We can't wait to use it all winter long! Overall I couldn't be happier about the entire experience with Burlington. To sum it up: EXCELLENT customer service. Awesome employees. Beautiful product.

The first time Burlington Fireplace came out they dismantled the stove and cleaned it out and re-embered it. I admit that it did need a good cleaning first, but this did not solve the problem. So I called them again a few months later and Burlington Fireplace came out and took a deeper look at the stove and found some low voltage coming off a thermal sensor. The sensor was replaced and the gas stove is working great now. I actually did not pay for two service visits because they were already out and did not fix the problem initially. All in all I am very happy with them...I also might add that they are good about answering their phones and getting back to people which I find is a rarity these days.

Purchased a used log set from Rich at Burlington Fireplace ( he said there was nothing wrong with it ) When I went to install it, I bumped a log and it came apart, called Rich and explained what happened, he said I could fix it myself, so I took the unit downstairs to my shop to see about fixing it when I noticed it was repaired once before ( found a drywall screw in the log ) no wonder the log came apart so easy. So I called Rich back and told him what I found and he said, which log is it, the one by the gas control ? ( wonder how he knew that ? )told him I want to return the defective item but he said he would order a new log set. It's been over 35 days and it's still defective. Both Rich, His son and Burlington Fireplace has stopped responding to my emails. I am also having a issue with the gas pilot light, I have asked them how I can correct it, they havent responded..... All I ever wanted was to return this item and get a refund back. What a shame Update: After contacting the Better Business Bureau we finally received our money back 01-07-2013

Everything went fine. They were very good. I especially like the guy that did the fireplace. He also solved a problem I'd had with the fireplace. I do recommend them to others!

Wanted to have my air and furnace cleaned. Called Burlington and scheduled an appointment. The service guy came out and gave the units a clean bill of health. 3 days later my air conditioner stopped working. I went out to the unit outside and shaked the unit trying to see if I could get it to work but nothing. Of course it's Sat. and it's 89 degrees. I called and left a message. The service guy called on Sunday and said he would come out on Monday to look at it. He came out and found a rusted broken wire. He said he must have missed this when he came to inspect my unit a week earlier. How can a professional come to your house waste your time and money doing an inspection and not even look at something that must be looked at as part of the inspection. I would pass on Burlington if I had to do it over.

excellent service. Jeremy and Brandon were on time, efficient, cleaned up afterward and put furniture they moved back in place. They were curteous and very professional. The owner of the company, I feel gave me a fair dealer and I particularly appreciated that they are a local business and would be able to provide service for all my heating and air conditioning needs. I would highly recommend this business.

He then turned his attention to the blower looking at it and playing with the knob. It became apparent that he and his partner didn't have any experience with Heatilator add - on blowers and hadn't repaired them before or possibly even seen this brand or a blower before. He mentioned he would be installing a furnace later so that might be what he normally does. I was explaining to them how it worked! That it took about 10 minutes of fire before the blower kicks in, but they still looked at, turned the knobs and didn't have a clue on how to fix it. The other guy then took off my switch plate from the wall, disconnected some wires and said my wiring might have some problems and I should call an electrician. They then decided maybe that wasn't it and said maybe they should replace the control knob box even though the blower was now working! They called into the store but no one there could figure out what blower it was. This all added an additional hour which I was charged for, even though they were not familar with or qualified to work on a Heatilator blower. I paid the bill and sent them off, thinking we would need a new control box. I then tried the blower myself and it was working perfectly and has since. I called a "real" Heatilator distributor who said over the phone that it probably only needed the cleaning and wasn't getting hot enough to set off the blower! He knew immediately and even told me what to look for over the phone for free. I spent several phone calls later to the owner's wife and the owner, who said they would get back to me but didn't, trying to get the extra hour taken off. They said he couldn't reimburse the extra hour because he sent two guys ( one in training)which I didn't ask for, and had to pay them. He said if I paid for a furnace cleaning, another $100, he would throw in a free filter but who knows if his furnace tech knows any more about furnaces or was in training and the job would turn into $200. For the first time, I was mislead by all of the good Angies reviews. Way too much money for a 10 minute vacuum cleaning of my fireplace that my husband and I will be doing from now on.

All aspects of our experience with Burlington Fireplace were first-rate. The owner made sure to show us all of our options, even making a house call the same day to discuss. The installation crew was exceptional. Taking time to discuss the installation and operating procedures, going above and beyond to remove a dead animal from our fireplace. The crew also made sure to cover all carpets and clean up the entire job site. I have and will recommend Burlington Fireplace to all my family, friends and co-workers.

Arrived on time. The installers were professional and pleasant to deal with . They gave you updates on the installation, and asked questions so they knew exactly what I wanted. (new duct added and AC moved to a different location). Gave instructions on operating the new system. Cleaned up afterwards. Very happy with the service provided.

Excellent from beginning to end. Salespeople were very friendly and knowledgeable, they gave us the information that we needed without trying to sway us to one particular model or brand. The installers were amazing, they were on time, clean and answered all of my questions. They also took the time to show me exactly how to light and maintain the stove so I didn't have to rely on the manual.

Ron showed up as promised between 12-4 on Fri. Couldn't get the rest of the fireplace to light, said he believed it was the gas valve (special order part, taking 5 bus days and around $300-400 for the part alone, said they'd call me when they received it.) Charged $147 for labor/trip charge. I called Wed to ensure the part on it's way, Rich said they're having trouble finding part (part # written down wrong by Burlington). Thurs they called said they need to stop by again to write the correct part # down, so they did. Fri they called again, said they'd like to measure the fireplace just in case a new fireplace was needed. Jerry researched the part nationwide on Thu/Fri, called and said only 30 parts were available nationwide and they had 1 in their stockroom. Sent Ron back to install it within a few hours and it worked. Charged $370 for part and labor. Thank you Burlington for being responsive with an impending house closing deadline looming.

I have recommended this company to others and will continue to use them myself.

I WILL USE THEM EVERY YEAR, AND SO WILL OTHERS, THAT I TOLD ABOUT THEIR SERVICE.

WE HAD HEATING ISSUES DURING CHRISTMAS. (HOT WATER HEATING.) THE EMPLOYEES WERE VERY HELPFUL AND RESPONSIVE. HOWEVER, WE CONTINUED TO HAVE PROBLEMS. BURLINGTON STATED THAT WE NEEDED A NEW BOILER SYSTEM. ONE MONTH LATER A PIPE BURST IN OUR CEILING CAUSING DAMAGE AND WE HAD TO FILE AN INSURANCE CLAIM. NOTIFIED COMPANY AND THEY DID NOT RESPOND. HAD TWO OTHER HEATING COMPANIES IN AND BOTH STATED THAT THE HOT WATER SYSTEM WAS NOT ''BLED'' PROPERLY LEADING TO AN AIR POCKET THAT BURST. BOTH ALSO STATED THAT WE DID NOT NEED A NEW BOILER. VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE LACK OF RESPONSE!!!

INSTALLED GAS FIREPLACE IN OCTOBER. IN NOVEMBER, IT WAS BROKE. CALLED AND HAD TECHNICIAN OUT WITHIN 2 DAYS TO REPLACE UNIT AT NO CHARGE.
