I had a coupon for a free Buckey Book with an estimate. We got a few estimates because we were ready to get the work done. They didnt bring the Buckey Book with them and he gave me a used one out of his truck. But we decided to go with him for the work. They had a middle of the road price. He seemed thorough and sincere and had a good attitude. He promised the design within 2 weeks and it never came. I called and I was promised it in another week. I received the schematics, but no quote. When I called this time he told me that he was too busy and didnt have enough workers. By mid July, we had now passed the point of getting our rain for the season. We had needed the lawn seeded and he didn't even do that. At that point, I called him and told him no thank you, and forget about doing the work for us. He wasted weeks and weeks of our time. We were never able to get our yard seeded professionallly last year because of that company. So we had to seed our own lawn ourselves in the fall.
Description of Work: We were going to hire AJ"s Landscape to seed our lawn, and also have them do a very extensive landscaping job at our home.

He took away the old driveway and ended up making the driveway higher than it already was. He cost me $2100 to have gravel removed from my driveway that I did not want in the first place. He rented equipment and used my name, also for purchasing the gravel. He damaged property and came to work drunk. Even after I fired him, he came back to my house continuously. Be very aware.
Description of Work: I had him out to fix the driveway (making it lower than the house). He came back to my house each day after the initial estimate, pressuring me into having him do the work.

1. The sod looks fine: it ran more than the estimated cost.2. The new portion of picket fence does not match the old (different spacing & widths of boards). One of the support posts is obviously crooked (which my poor neighbor has to look at everyday as it is adjacent to her driveway) and in some cases screws that were too short were used with the result that boards are loose.3. The deck boards are warping already. Many are wobbly when you walk on them. The ends of the boards have not been cut straight. I had an experienced deck-builder examine the deck and he reports that the boards need to be removed, flipped so that the wood rings on the board ends all face downwards (i.e. forming a downward "C" shape), and re-spaced in order to fix the warping. While warping is one factor in the general wobbliness, not utilizing enough screws is another: there are some boards I can lift the ends and wiggle. He also reports that most deck builders don't leave the "No. 2 Prime KD 19 HT 163" green lumber stamp facing upwards where you have to look at it everytime you walk on the deck. The gaps where the boards are supposed to meet the deck posts are kind of gaping: AJ's Landscaping had suggested putting trim around the posts--unfortunately I wasn't informed that the trim would cost me $50 more. Also, the trim was only lightly glued together and pieces are coming apart already. Despite running significantly more than the estimate, I have a deck that is not particularly sightly nor stable. 4. I was told that the painting service would include scraping off the old paint, and applying 2 coats of paint (primer + paint). There were places that weren't even painted once, much less twice. In the initial estimate I was told the lattice under the deck, as well as the peeling house siding adjacent to the deck would also be painted: neither of these were completed, and the cost for the painting was still $150 over budget. The good things about AJs Landscaping: efficient service and pleasant to kids and dogs. The bad things about AJs Landscaping: poor workmanship (i.e. warped or wobbly), costs significantly more than estimate, unsightly (i.e. looks crooked), shows up at customer's house unexpectedly (which can be startling first thing in the morning) At a certain point, I just gave up. What would be the point in asking someone who couldn't cut boards straight the first time or use the right length/number of screws to attempt to do it right the second time? I paid what they asked, and now its going to cost me even more to fix what they did.
Description of Work: 1. Sod laid in back yard2. Portion of picket fence moved/replaced3. Old deck surface boards removed and replaced with new4. Painted portion of fence, deck, and patio overhang

wow... where to start. I ws sold a service and didn't receive the service as promised. Hired them to mow a small cottage lot on 2 occasions and water flowers. Flowers were dead when we returned. Lied about actually watering the flowers- I asked if he personally watered them (as he told me prior that he did) this time he said he personally didn't. The dirt in the flower boxes & planters was rock hard! Parts of the lawn were ompletely missed. After our return, a lawn mower sat in our front yard for 24 hours. Before service was done on second location I was promised a quote. Never rec'd it. But rec'd a bill for 2nd location for $100! Who pays $100 to have their lawn mowed on one occasion? A typical subdivision lot mind you... he was argumentative and rude. So here I am posting for all future clients of his.
Description of Work: 2 week period... mowing two locations & watering several planters
