Very professional from start to finish. Completely cleaned up after themselves and demonstrated the workings and necessary maintence needed. We were impressed with the company and will definitely use them again !!

He is wonderful. I had an emergency, and they did an inspection. There was a problem with a pipe that was 70-something years old, so I had to move out of the house. They didn't think it was leaking. I have used them for more than six years. The neighbors use and love him. He's such a nice man. He is a nice person that does good work. They have also done bathroom remodeling for us. They stand behind what they do. When the thing leaked, they came out. They don't try to push you off or sell you things you don't need. They explain everything.

They came on time and did the work well. They cleaned up well too. So far I have had no problems with their work. They were pretty right on with their estimate. The price was no more than what the person who had come out initially had estimated. I had priced around, and many providers were a lot more expensive. I would use them again in the future.

We had a good experience. We had used them before and they do a good job. He know's what he's doing and communicated with us what was needed and what was being done.

At first, I thought this was going to be a big hassle because of the age of the toilets. When Randy came over to quote the job (he wanted to check out the existing conditions), he assured me they could get it done. After getting the quote, we hired them and scheduled an installation date. They showed up on time and had the new toilets installed in less than two hours. My only regret is not having them do it years ago. The new toilets work great.

Randy Zachow was amazingly the only one out of three recommended contractors that took my call on the first try. He came out the next day and gave me a very fair estimate to install a entirely new sump pump including the capping of a Palmer Valve, excavation, all electrical and finish work. He was recommended as one of the best by a foundation consultant that is familiar with his work. The crew was very courteous, prompt, and informative. They did a wonderful job in the prep, finish work and cleaning up after themselves. Our sump looks very clean and professionally done. The price would have been about $80 less if I hadn't insisted on an upgrade to the pump motor horsepower.

They returned my initial call promptly and gave me an over-the-phone estimate immediately. When I called to tell them I wanted them to do the work, they immediately scheduled an appointment that was convenient for my work schedule. I was there to meet the plumber at 6:45 a.m. and felt completely comfortable leaving a key with him so I could go to work. When I got home, the job was completed. Two days later I needed an adjustment to the water temperature and they had someone out the same day.

Very professional and highly skilled. Exceptionally clean work area and made a good effort to mimimize dust, etc. Great job on the installations. Took the time to explain everything to me, including the maintenance procedure and schedule for the BFP. They were on time, on schedule and made it look easy.

Had been calling all over town to find someone to fix our Kohler Shower Valve. Three plumers turned down the project so I was thrilled to find someone willing to fix it. I spoke with Randy Zachow, he told me Don would be out to fix it. Don showed up with no parts, but took a look at the shower valve. He then proceeded to fix the faucet leak downstairs. 2 days later, Don showed up with 1 of the 2 parts needed to fix the shower. After he left, the downstairs faucet began to leak again. Called Randy Zachow to find out what was going on. 7 business days later, Don showed up with 2nd part and had to rework the downstairs drain. Charged me 3.25 hours of work for which I can only account for 2.5 hours of actual labor being performed. Still have not heard from Randy and have no idea what the parts will cost. This was a very dissapointing experience considering we used them to replace our Water Heater which was a fabulous experience.

In May 2010, after heavy rain, I had water in the basement. I dithered about what to do, and finally called Zachow, based on Angies List. We arranged a time with their subcontractor, and they called me at work giving me time to get home (hardly anyone can manage to do this!). By this time, the waters had receded. They diagnosed the problem as the drain out to the city lines. They brought in their big snake machine and worked for about 2 hours solid, getting out lots of roots. Ever since then, the basement has been dry, even in the big July rains. Was I pleased!

Zachow send their subcontractor who does drain cleaning. Two guys showed up - the grumpy old man and his cheery helper. I can understand the job is not the most fun, but the old guy kept complaining that he did not want to do the work as he had been at the state fair cleaning sewers and thought he would get a day off since it was raining. Fortunately I had put down drop cloths and such b/c they did not bring any and would have stained my carpeting if I had not put any down. They did clean out a couple drains, but the main problem I was having was my basement floor drain was running slow. I showed the guys where the cleanout from the basement was located (and I put up plastic in that area to keep it clean). I showed them the second cleanout in another area and them I did not want that one worked on. When I returned to the basement later the crew was at the one I did not want worked on, and made a huge mess, staining the wall, adjacent boxes, shelving, a ladder. The grumpy guy said they could not get the first cleanout open so they used the second. The cheery helper told me not to p*** off the grumpy guy. Had I know they would use that cleanout I would have put up plastic to keep it clean. Cleaning that lateral did not solve my problem - I don't know why they thought it would. It took me hours to clean up the mess. I just wanted them out of the house, as I did not trust them. I called Zachow that day to complain, and the lady who took the call listened but did not offer to do anything about it. When I got the bill I called again to complain and talked to Randy Zachow, who said I should have called the same day as the service. He was not very sympathetic and did not appologize for his subcontractor, but did take $30 off the bill. I would not trust these people in my house again. I would never hire them again as they did not solve my problem, were hard to deal with, and made a huge mess.

These guys are always good. Their staff is always friendly and professional.

My hot water heater was out.. I tried to relight the pilot light several times and was unable to do so. I call Zachow's and was told someone would call me back. I got a phone call about 4:45pm from Don, saying he would stop by on his way home - he showed up about 5 minutes later. I was pleasantly surprised, as I only expected a call back, to schedule a visit the next day. Don checked the heater out, explained and fixed the problem within minutes - he replaced the 'thermocoupler' - he didn't have the price of the replacement part..but explained the service visit charge and 1/4 hr labor charge. I am very satisfied. I had called Zachow's in the past for a leaky toilet/replacement. I got their name from Angies List and have been very satisfied with their service both times.

I had called a few other places and because I wasn't a repeat customer to any of them it would take a few days for them to come out. Zachow came the same day and fixed the problem. They gentleman was very courteous.

The water heater was leaking. Called Zacho on a Friday evening and the owner came right over to inspect. e knew it was over 10 years old and at the end of its life, so we believed him when he said it was time to replace. it was opening deer season the next day, but he found a qualified employee to do the job right away the next day. We were hoping for a better price, but considering the emergency and saturday repair, we were not disappointed. The quality has been good, and I would definitely use them again!

Did not come when called (6pm), agreed to come next day. Therefore, leak continued for next 18hrs which caused more damage to downstairs unit. Happy with results and repairman's professionalism. Not too happy with price. I feel service visit fee ($60) should be included in work charge since work was performed at time of visit. Especially since no emergency/after hours visit was made. Would use again, but would call others first and check rates and sevice call fee policy.

They arrived at house exactly as promised, 7am. They were professional, explained what they were doing, cleaned up afterwards and finally showed me how to access and maintenance the valve

They were very responsive to my phone calls and questions. I'm very satisfied with their services and I haven't had any issues with the leak since!

The worker was willing to answer my questions. When I heard he had to open up the wall I admit we were a bit skeptical. When you are in an emergency situation though you are unable to contact someone else for a second opinion. My only complaint is that the worker gave me the incorrect hourly rate. He told me it would be $18.75 per fifteen minutes. It was $27.50 per fifteen minutes. I did pay our bill in full. I just want Zachow to be aware.

We feel that we were over charged and asked the owner to compensate for the type of job his plumber did.. We asked that he remove the 3/4 of an hour in which his plumber went to the store for parts. The owner said that the tank was draining at the time, but the plumber could have during this time replaced the shower head and cartridge. . Zachow's plumber charged us for 2 hours and 45 minutes for testing/replacing an element and replacing a shower head and cartridge. The owner said no he would not reduce the bill by 3/4 hour. We think this is unfair.

We were looking to have a new water heater installed and were considering the new Tankless variety. I found Wm. A. Zachow and Sons on Angie's list with an excellent member rating. This was my first forray on Angie's list so I thought I would test it. One of the sons showed up exactly on time for a walk through and to review it to provide an estimate for the job. He spent about 30-40 min. here looking at the situationa nd discussing with me the pros and cons of the tankless systems. For all intents and purposes, he convinced me that it would be more cost effective to continue with a regular tak heater but convert from electric to gas. I received a quote the following day and they accepted my approval over the phone to do the work. They were in two days later at 8:00 a.m. to begin the work and were completed by 2:00 in the afternoon including clean-up. The job included re-piping gas for the new heater and tapping in to an existing stack for exhaust. I was so impressed with them and their entire work ethic, I wish there was more to say positively that they were absolutely flawless. I will use them again and would recommend them to anyone. What immpressed me perhaps the most were two things: 1. They didn't make me pay until I returned from a business trip 3 days later so I could inspect the job before final approval. 2. I was looking at a $3,000-4,000 job of installing a tankless system with code requirements and all with a marginally improved efficiency in energy performance. They were more interested in doing what was right for my situation. That is worth gold in my experience. Thanks Wm. A. Zachow and Sons, A+ from me.

They did a nice job and were there when they said they would be there. The plumbers are excellent, personable and lovely. I would indeed use them again.
