Pella Windows and Doors

They destroyed the air quality in the house, as they removed every single window at once and it was a hot windy day when they installed the windows. They were determined to get it done in one day. I sure have paid the price for that. The flies they let in the house were in the hundreds. The dust was (and still is) unbelievable. We are going to have to have the duct work cleaned, replace all the wall to wall carpet and put in an electrostatic air cleaner on the furnace. We had hundreds of flies in the house, as they took all the windows out and then put the new ones in 1 at a time. I have developed allergies that I can't escape from. We contacted Pella immediately and NEVER have I been treated so rudely. We had fly strips up to catch the few that got in, as I have parrot and chemicals are not an option. The man I contacted implied that all those flies were in the house already, because I use fly strips. We had to spend 2+ hours killing them that night. We asked for compensation because of the dust and the 1000.00 + it will cost to clean the ducts and the house. We clean the carpets (with a carpet machine) every month or so - still tons of dust. They did send us a check for $250.00 and said that should be more than adequate. It is not. Then one of the windows was installed opening on the wrong side. That was partially our fault, as we didn't see the fine print that the diagrams were from the outside. The salesman did not point that out either. After withholding half the cost (which I felt was the ONLY reason they did anything) they offered to replace the window for about $900. At this point we were not happy at all. They finally said, IF we pay them what we owe them, in full, they would replace the window correctly for $375.00. I paid them and we have not heard a word from them regarding the new window. The patio door froze shut over the winter. By the time someone came to inspect it, spring was here and it worked fine. They added a small amount of insulation and said it was because the humidity in the house was too high. Even the cheap door we replaced worked better than the new (very expensive) one. We are waiting to see if it freezes shut again this winter, I have a bad back and it took all my strength to get it open to let the dogs out, so this situation is unacceptable. My advice is to do your homework if you hire Pella and be sure to regulate how they install your windows. I can only hope the product is far superior to the people we have dealt with.

Company always provides excellent service

They were easy to deal with. The man who fixed the showed up even when i was not there. I was not charged.

The experience was good but we did not go with their windows. I thought that the salesperson was very professional. We liked his knowledge of the windows he was trying to sell us and I thought he presented the products very well. Their pricing was very competitive.

They put it in when they said they were going to put it. It went ok. I had an after installation problems with the set up of the window like the open and close. They made a mistake with the cranks that they used because it’s a big window and one on each side. One of them came with a wrong crank and wrong colour and that had to be replaced. After that when they came to put the spring and I opened it they wouldn’t close. They did come back each time and they did fix them. I didn’t have any service charge for it. They had to come back again and fix the window that had the original problem on with the entire wrong crank because it wouldn’t close. I didn’t have any problems anymore. It was so far, so good. It was a bad mistake to make with those things. In terms of their pricing, they’re high. They’re higher than some of the brands of some of their competitors do and they’re equal in quality. It’s a great window. It’s what I wanted in there. I had no ventilation in that room at all. It’s a good product but it was just an odd set of mistakes or problems with the window. They had to come twice to resolve it. I think there was a third call but it was not a big deal. It was the same window but they got it done. They were very responsive.

I had a great experience with them. They were very good. Their services were outstanding and had great quality.

It was a very good experience. The quality and price compared to some other places stood out.

Awful and it's still not finished. First off I prepaid because I received $608 off the price. I thought this would be fine because they are supposed to be a top of the line company. There was supposed to be a one day install on 5-19-14. No one showed up and no one called, so after some calls on my part and half of day I was told they weren't coming and they would reschedule. The next install was set for 5-26 and 5-27 it turned into a two day install. On5-26 no one showed or called so I called again and they said they broke down but would be there. One man showed worked two hours left for two hours came back for two hours and left for the day. The next day they showed up and stayed till nine PM. They did an awful job , didn't finish and kicked a dent in the patio door. They came back the next afternoon and supposedly finished. Then on 5-29 I called and complained on 5-30 the company sent out two guys to inspect and they agreed it was awful. Then they insisted on sending the same installer back I argued but lost. He came back on 6-5 and did a pretty decent job I did some of the finishing work myself touching up the new doors and painting around the door they ordered too small. On 6-12 they came out to inspect and we found more broken pieces on the patio door and said they would call me the next day to schedule finishing the job and to settle up with me. No one called and that's where I'm at now. The only reason I paid so much for five doors was because I didn't want a hassle I wanted a one day install and a warranty. Boy was that a mistake.

We have had a good experience with them. I don't have any complaints. I am very satisfied with the quality. The responsiveness was very good.

They were here when they said they were going to be, the work was done very quickly, and the clean up was good.

The workers were very very nice and they cleaned up themselves before they left. I want to use them again. They did a good job.

I have had wonderful experience with them. They were excellent, timely, clean, and respectful. You get what you pay for. We were very satisfied with everything.

I think they're great. They're very good. They want to satisfy customers, so they tell me whatever I wanted they would do, and if I wasn't pleased with it, they would make sure that they would change it, so I was pleased. The fact that they have good pay plans without interest and the fact that they do good work because I had two windows replaced by them a couple of years ago and the workers were very very nice and they cleaned up after they left. The workers they have, the stainers and the installers and all of that were very very nice. The only thing was they put in a dark mahogany door on the front and I didn't like that. I told them, they had to match with my other cabin tree, because it's right next to the kitchen. My kitchen is in the front of the house and I wanted them to match, color wise, stain wise. So, they gave me a temporary door on there and took the door back and re-did the whole door and stained it the color I wanted.

The service worked out fine. The original window was painted, and they wouldn't paint around this one.

Salesperson answered all our questions beforehand. Crew sent work reminder to us day before. Crew professional throughout. Cleaned up and removed old materials. Finished product matches look of old windows beautifully. One concern we had was that the new windows didnt stand out, so very pleased with product. We were shown how to operate and clean installed windows. We are very pleased with the work and the product.

The windows were installed well and I am happy with the end result. However, I did not receive a telephone call before the appointment to confirm, nor did I receive any mail from them with a date confirmation as is standard. I also require some touch-up work done on the trim of the windows but they have still not called back to schedule that. They have not been responsive or communicative this time I have used them and I have never had trouble in the past. UPDATE 6/20/14: I was never reached out to by a Pella representative, another indication that they just don't communicate. Also, I had to take two days off of work for the painter to come in, and the job still isn't done because he didn't have the right paint color either time. I can't take any more time off work to have a 30-minute paint job done. The communication and has been incredibly abysmal and I'm never doing business with them again.

The repairman was great (independent contractor) but we had to wait a month for service that took ten minutes.

The new assembly is far superior to that originally placed in the sunroom. There is no heat loss now in the winter. It is very attractive and easy to go in and out onto the deck. We had a 3-window combination replacement by Pella into the same room several years earlier, and are very satisfied with it as well. The installation jobs for both endeavors was excellent and as future windows need replacement, we will definitely use Pella again.

Window was broken May 9th, 2013 by a lawn crew of my neighbor and the order was called into Pella Window and Door and Vanhalen window (who works as a contractor for Pella window in the Milwaukee area) the same day. Incidentally , it was paid for immediately ($600+) which in hindsight may have been our big mistake. To date, February 19, 2014, my window has yet to be replaced. On five occasions the window install date has been set and on each occasion Pella has cancelled due to problems with my replacement window (first time, pane cracked, second time, frame cracked, third time, window frame not stained, fourth time, window frame strained wrong color, fifth time, window stained wrong color. They have had a color sample of my window frame from day one but it seems no one is willing to take the time to own this project. I've had various costumer service and managers call and apologize and promise me to get the job done ASAP. The last time I heard from anyone was October or November 2013 after I specifically requested that the job be done before winter set in. At this point its beyond a joke and I'm past being upset. Now my standard reply is, "stop apologizing and promising personal attention to my project. I will believe it when it gets done on install day". Upon completion of my window replacement I will post an update to this website.

We contacted Pella this summer to consider having them replace several windows. During the course of the sales presentation, I mentioned a service issue with our sliding patio door. The salesman called the service department, right from my home, and was told to get a credit card from me to pre-pay and that the technician would be out in 6 weeks. I did not purchase our new windows from Pella specifically because of the poor service issues

It has been a total disaster. Following repeated conversations with their service department that started in June 2013 we received six replacement screens; none were correct. We received one for a right casement, three duplicates of a left handed screen without grommets but with incompatible slider controls for the blinds, one undersized left sided screen without grommets and one correctly sized units without grommets. They sent a service technician and his order was the last, correctly sized but no grommets. I ended up driving to Brookfield (56 miles one way) and leaving the last screen which I hope has been modified to work.

Jim and his son arrived on time and completed the work replacing our patio doors in a timely fashion. They had to add wood to each side of the doors because of the size difference from the original. They also had to replace some rotted wood on the bottom of the door, where a colony of ants had made their home. They were very friendly and professional and spent extra time explaining the project. They did an exceptional job and I would recommend them to anyone. The doors look beautiful.

They are very great. There was a little problem but they fixed it right away.

The windows and doors were received exactly as ordered. We could have gone with lesser windows/doors, but we learned Pella is a good product so we were willing to spend more. The products are good...but our installers were outstanding! Father and son Jim and Tom were on time, did everything right from putting up proper signage, etc., to a beautiful job of installation. The inside wood trim around the three separate windows in our living room is expertly done and exceeded my expectations. After installation they did a better job of cleaning the inside and outside of our home's work site than I do! They were informative, professional, and just darn nice guys. We love the windows and doors but the installers made all the difference. We also liked the paperwork we received with our order: a list of people working on our project and their phone numbers in case we had a problem, a list of what is expected of Pella and what was expected of us (Site Responsibilities), even a photo along with name, phone, and email of our project coordinator. I never had to wonder who to call if we had a problem (I never had to call anyone). A very pleasant experience.

I have had the worse response with Pella and it's service department. They were here 3 weeks ago to address the issues shown above. I called them last week friday and was told that there had been no communication from the tech who was here to give me a quote. I was told they would call me back. I called back because I have not gotten a response. I was told that they were emailing the tech and would call me back. I still have not heard from them in regard to a quote on this work. For a company who has a reputation as Pella I expect more. They charge too much and do not respond as they should. There seems to be no communication between the service department and the management who sends out work quotes. This is not the first time this has happened and I feel trapped with them because these are Pella windows and should be replaced with such.
