Description of Work: Worst install... EVER. Caulk everywhere. 6 months out, doors don't close properly, I can see daylight. I can feel air. Installer "promised" to come out in the spring and repair and replace the horrific trim (didn't know caulk counted as trim). Wont answer my calls. Avoid at all costs! Contacting Pella directly is useless. They advise me to contact the salesman, who farms me to the installer, who, well, see above.

Description of Work: Two very large front windows replaced. Pella isn't cheap, but it's worth the dollars. They are great looking and fully functional, including inside blinds. We have done a door and nine windows so far. Three more downstairs windows to go, maybe next year. But it will be Pella.

Description of Work: Had a bank of Windows (6' by 12') replaced. Installation was mostly completed in one day, but lacking some materials, the installer had to return later. I was concerned about exposure to the elements in the meantime. The installer came back to secure the area until he could return to finish the job. Overall, I'm satisfied with the quality of the product and installation.

Description of Work: Everyone was very friendly and courteous and did a great job of installing all the windows in my home. I we had one bad window and they got him and took care of the problem right away. The repair guy also looked at other concerns I had without complaining and without charging any extra fees. Very very happy!

+ -1 moreFIRST, OUR SALESMAN ON ALL OF THESE PROJECTS (BOB DIETZ) HAS BEEN OUTSTANDING (THE MAIN REASON THAT WE KEPT GOING BACK), PELLA HAS GREAT PRODUCTS, AND VERHALEN HAS SOME VERY TALENTED TRADESMAN ON STAFF. HOWEVER, THEY HAVE BEEN VERY BUSY OVER THE PAST YEAR. THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN OUR FIRST WARNING (WE COULD NOT GET OUR FAVORITE CREW AS THEY WERE TIED-UP). TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA HOW FRUSTRATED I HAVE BECOME OVER THE PAST WEEK, MY GRADES FOR VERHALEN 3 MONTHS AGO WOULD HAVE BEEN A'S ACROSS THE BOARD (PRICE WOULD HAVE BEEN A C). HOWEVER, THIS SUNROOM PROJECT HAS BEEN A BIG HEADACHE FROM DAY ONE. THEIR GRADES FOR THIS PROJECT SEEM TO BE GOING DOWN EACH DAY AS I DISCOVER MORE CONCERNS. WE MAY BE ABLE TO WORK-OUT MOST ISSUES WITH BOB, SO I WON'T GO INTO DETAIL YET. MOST OF THE PROBLEMS ON THIS PROJECT APPEAR TO REVOLVE AROUND ONE OF THEIR STAFF WHO APPARENTLY MIS-ORDERED (WRONG SIZE WINDOWS, WRONG TRIM), AND INCORRECTLY SPEC'D-OUT THE PROJECT. I HOPE TO HAVE A BETTER UPDATE SOON.
Description of Work: THIS PARTICULAR PROJECT WAS THE 4TH PROJECT THAT WE HAVE USED VERHALEN (PELLA WINDOW AND DOOR PRODUCTS) ON. THE FIRST 3 PROJECTS WERE DONE EXTREMELY WELL, INVOLVING MOST OF THE WINDOWS ON OUR HOUSE AS WELL AS THE ENTRY DOORS. THIS LAST PROJECT (JUST INSTALLED LAST WEEK) INVOLVED 6 LARGE WINDOWS, AND 2 LARGE SLIDING PATIO DOORS IN OUR SUNROOM. IT WAS A VERY EXPENSIVE PROJECT, BUT WE FELT COMFORTABLE USING THEM BECAUSE THEY HAD DONE SUCH A GREAT JOB FOR US OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS ON THE FIRST 3 PROJECTS. MAYBE WE SHOULD HAVE QUIT WHEN WE WERE AHEAD.

I'VE WITHHELD PARTIAL PAYMENT HOPING THIS WILL ENCOURAGE THEM TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. + -1 moreEACH OF THE THREE PRODUCTS ARRIVED IN DAMAGED CONDITION. IT TOOK FOUR MONTHS TO GET THE RIGHT PARTS AND THE SERVICE APPOINTMENT TO GET THEM REPAIRED. DAVE EMOND IS AN HONEST SALESMAN, AND WE WERE HAPPY TO WORK WITH HIM. THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS THAT WE RECEIVED WITH THE PRODUCTS WERE FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION. THUS, THE INSTALLATION COULD HAVE BEEN EASIER. ONE WINDOW AND THE PATIO DOOR ARRIVED WITH LOOSE SCREWS INSIDE THAT FELL OUT WHEN WE OPENED THEM. ONE OF OUR WINDOWS DIDN'T LATCH CORRECTLY. ANOTHER WINDOW ARRIVED WITH CRACKED WOOD. THE PATIO DOOR DID NOT CLOSE PROPERLY AND HAD TORN WEATHERSTRIPPING WHEN IT ARRIVED. WE EXPECTED MUCH MORE FROM A COMPANY LIKE PELLA. WE WERE DISAPPOINTED IN THE QUALITY OF THEIR WORKMANSHIP. WE ARE CURRENTLY SHOPPING FOR WINDOWS FOR THE REST OF OUR HOME, AND WE ARE NOT LOOKING AT PELLA WINDOWS.
