It was a terrible experience. I would not recommend them. They subcontracted out and the work wasn't done nearly to the estimated time and cost. They were way off. Our bathroom was out of commission for three weeks. Sometimes the handyman didn't show up. It was a really bad experience. I had to call the owner of the company and have him come down to do the job. He was very good. Their original estimate was $2000 but the final bill was over $3000. I had them come out to my house but it still didn't get fixed. I sent him a letter saying that they received my money. He was fine with that. They didn't push it at all. The pricing was fine. I got what I paid for. It was only for the labor. We bought the toilet and we bought all of the fixtures. They just put it in.
Description of Work: Handyman Network had the top board moved and we had a window put in where the rotten window was. They also hooked the stuff up for the plumbing work. They put in a brand new toilet and a new sink as well as the new tub. We got tiling done halfway up the wall.

First, the workman that came to our house gave us an quote and then told us after the fact that it didn't include the electrical work. The drywalling was terribly done, he missed sections around the beams in the garage, didn't cut the drywall straight and around the garage door it looked like it was patched together. Then when he begain to paint, he hit the roof/ceiling of the garage with paint. When I commented on the job that was being done, he said it was only a garage. Before he started the job, I told him the reason we were doing the garage, was because my husband has antique classic cars that we would be showing off in the garage and that we wanted the garage to look as nice as the inside of our house. The company came back four times trying to fix the badly done job. Now after 9 months, the drywall is starting to crack in places.
Description of Work: The company was to install drywall on two walls of my garage and flush the electrical outlets and light switches behind the drywall, then tape and finish the drywall and paint the inside of the garage.

What was to be a 1 day job, turned into a 6 day job. First worker had an asthma attack and left for the day without informing homeowner. 2nd worker on 2nd day could not navigate the slope of the roof to complete the paint job. 3rd worker tried to stuff all debris into homeowners garbage cans. When contacting the supervisor to complain, we were assured that all work could be completed in one more final work day. That turned into two more, with end result being black trim paint splattered and blotches all over three sides of the home on the white siding. When confronted, the response was "sorry folks , about the siding, we did the best we could." When settling up, they still tried to charge us the full estimate of $880.00, which we refused on the spot. No clean-up of scraped areas chips left all over roof, no primer, we provided the paint and had to clean up everything ourselves. Very prompt and courteous at estimate, but not a positive experience at all as project unfolded.
Description of Work: Minor repairs and paint. 1 window and dormer trim on exterior of home above roof-line, clean up of chimney top, demo with removal of debris of old drywall in garage.

THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY COMES TO OUR HOUSE AND AGREES WITH US THAT THE WORK IS SUBSTANDARD AND PROMISES TO PERSONALLY SEE TO THE JOB GETTING DONE RIGHT. YET THE WORK IS ALWAYS OF POOR QUALITY. NOW HE WON'T EVEN COME TO OUR HOUSE TO DO AN EVALUATION. SINCE DECEMBER WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT HE HAS BEEN SICK. IF WHAT MIKE BRUCE'S WORKERS WOULD DO WHAT HE PROMISES THE PROJECT WOULD HAVE BEEN DONE A LONG TIME AGO. THIS WAS TO HAVE BEEN A 5 DAY JOB. IT STARTED ON AUGUST 1, 2005. IT IS NOW APRIL 1, 2006.
Description of Work: THE FIRST MAN THAT RE-DID OUR BATHROOM DID SUCH A BAD JOB HE WAS FIRED. THE WORK WAS THEN REDONE OVER A PERIOD OF 4 MONTHS. THE WORK STILL IS NOT DONE CORRECTLY. THE COMPANY HAS A SATISFACTION GUARANTEE AND A PEACE OF MIND GUARANTEE. YET WE CAN NOT GET THEM TO COME TO OUR HOUSE AND FINISH THE JOB. WE HAVE BEEN GETTING THE RUN AROUND FOR TWO MONTH'S.

The original job was substandard. Handyman Network removed all of the original substandard work, replaced it at our cost. It included purchase of material and labor. It included additional tile work at no extra cost, material or labor. Additional tile covered an area of approximately 18 - 20 sq ft. Been back to this client's house on numerous occasions responding to new complaints re workmanship of the completed job. We responded same day, next day, or when the client was available until recently. The more recent complaint included sending someone other than our own staff to rectify a problem. We sent a licensed plumber at our cost in a final effort to appease this client. We have re-grouted the tile in the tub surround on two separate occasions. We could have charged for this work. The grout had discolored, we think from hair dye not being removed before it had a chance to penetrate the grout. We have responded to every complaint to date in a friendly and professional manner. We have reached the limits of trying to appease complaints. Our opinion is this client is attempting to obtain a full refund and will continue to complain about anything that we do, until they receive it. The job is completed to industry standards and we are prepared to undergo an audit by NARI to identify substandard workmanship. WATER DAMAGED THE WALL. ORIGINALLY HE SAID HE WOULD DRYWALL, BUT IT WAS A PLASTER WALL, SO HE REPAIRED THE PLASTER, BUT HAD ORDERED DRYWALL AND CHARGED THE DRYWALL PRICE. HE TRIED TO TAKE THE DRYWALL WITH HIM. WE HAD TO ASK HIM FOR IT BACK. WE PAID HIM FOR A GALLON OF PAINT, BUT HE USED AN OLD USED CAN. WE DIDN'T ASK FOR THE PAINT BACK. WE WEREN'T HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE. I WILL NOT CALL HIM AGAIN. I ALSO HAD TO CALL BACK AND HAVE THEM COME BACK OUT TO FIX THE PLASTER THAT HAD BUBBLED UP. I LIKED THE MAN, HE WAS NICE. BUT, THE HANDYMAN SERVICE NEVER CALLED BACK TO SEE IF I WAS SATISFIED WITH THE SERVICE. ALSO, I HAD TO CLEAN UP THE MESS OFF THE FLOOR FROM WHAT HE PEALED OFF THE WALL.

THEY WERE NICE AND VERY PROFESSIONAL. THEY SPENT OVER AN HOUR AND A HALF TO MAKE SURE THEY HAD ALL OF THE DETAILS ON THE JOBS I NEEDED. THE ONLY REASON I DIDN'T USE THEM WAS THEIR PRICE. I WAS FLOORED WHEN I RECEIVED THE ESTIMATE. THEY CALLED BACK TO SEE WHY I DIDN'T USE THEM, I JUST EXPLAINED THAT THE COST WAS OUT OF LINE.

I HAVE NOW GONE THROUGH FOUR DIFFERENT WORKERS, ONE GOT FIRED. A FEW OF THE GUYS WERE VERY GOOD, BUT OVERALL IT WAS A DISASTER TRYING TO GET EVERYTHING LIKE I WANTED IT. I EVEN HAD TO CLEAN THE HOUSE UP AND HIRE SOMEONE ELSE TO HAUL AWAY THE WASTE. THE OWNER HAS BEEN RUDE TO ME AND ESPECIALLY MY DAUGHTER AND HAS BEEN REALLY UNWILLING TO HELP. I EVEN TOLD THEM TO LEAVE MY HOUSE AND DON'T BACK THAT'S HOW FRUSTRATED I'VE BEEN. I WAS AS NICE AND PATIENT AS POSSIBLE AND EVEN GAVE THEM PLENTY OF OPPORTUNITIES TO FIX THE PROBLEMS. THEY NEVER ONCE HAD THE ORIGINAL COPY OF THE WORK TO BE PERFORMED AND I EVEN HAD TO POINT SOME THINGS OUT FROM THAT. I JUST FEEL LIKE THEY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ME AND THIS WRONG.
Description of Work: THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO SKIM THE WALLS, SHEET-ROCK FOR THE CEILING, ADD A FRONT DOOR AND A SCREEN, ADD A FRENCH DOOR, PULLING OUT AN OLD CHINA CABINET, PUTTING IN SEVERAL LIGHT SWITCHES AROUND THE HOUSE, PUT IN TWO FAN FIXTURES. ALSO HAD TWO COATS OF PAINT AROUND THE EDGES OF THE FLOOR. AND HAD SOME BASEMENT WORK TO DO AS WELL ADDING OUTLETS AND SUCH.

Discovered contracted HM to remodel a bathroom on the side also not finished. Inspected job within hours of call. Found job was only 50%% complete. New HM + certified electrician to complete the 2 original jobs. All electrical work completed 2/9. All work completed 2/15. Did nothing to bathroom, client problem. 2 F/U's recvd - yes and would use again. HM was great. Needed more work done. Front porch quote in April. Never told to leave and never return.
