Curt was fantastic. He was cheerful, energetic, proficient and finished the job in about 15 mins. He was able to do the job a day early and called about that in advance. Curt effortlessly popped the roller back into the track with a turn of the wrist and replaced cables on both sides. He also checked condition on other garage door in 2nd bay. He sprayed lubricant overall. I was delighted. This is my 2nd positive experience with this company and cost was reasonable at $130. I will continue to recommend them for their flawless service. Administrative Assistant was also courteous and knowledgeable when I scheduled appt.

I expected a little more professionalism. When I called the lady just answered the phone "Geis" and that was it. Also trying to schedule a time seemed to take 2 different people which is odd. I had to cancel my appointment due to a scheduling conflict which was all my fault, but they never called back to re-schedule like I asked. Instead I got a call a few days later from a tech saying he was 20 minutes away. This was news to me and luckily I was able to make it work but there just seems to be a communication disconnect. The technician was really nice and did a great job so there is nothing but good things to say about the work itself. However the back office appears to need some work.

The garage door is beautiful and I think the end result will be totally satisfactory, but getting there was a little iffy. The installer said the job was finished, but when he opened the door to show me, I commented on how noisy the opener was, compared to the old one. He didn't think anything was strange, but after investigating I saw that the chain going from the opener to the door was slack and was dragging on the metal rod below it. The installer adjusted different things and after a very long process was finally able to get it fixed. It didn't leave me with a lot of confidence in the installer, but it's working okay now, so hopefully everything else was done right.

Showed up when they said they would. Did all work as promised. Neat, workmanlike approach to all aspects of job. I've used Geis twice previously through the years, also good experiences. The garage door is one of those conveniences you hate to be without, and they always come through for us without hassle.

I have a history calling Geis for garage door repairs and replacement. However this time the experience was so horrible I am making sure everyone I can contact knows how bad their scheduler, Bob, ruined their reputation! Called them to totally replace a Wayne Dalton garage door opener which they had done for our 2 car garage previously, so I knew the routine and that it was a labor intensive process. The tech that came out to look over the situation and what would be required was so polite, helpful and left me actually looking forward to getting the door replaced! The estimate he gave was around $450, but it could be different. The estimate was close to what we paid for the 2 car garage opener, which I thought surprising, but it had been approximately 5 years ago, so inflation, okay. Called and talked to Bob the scheduler for Geis and he told me at least twice how expensive this was going to be and it was a long process, at least 4 hours work. The estimate he then gave me was $750!!! Again, I was shocked at the difference! I told him that wasn't happy to put that much money into it, but it needs to be replaced! In Wisconsin during a normal winter, if you can easily come in and out of your garage, you want to! Bob said they would not be able to get to me for two days and stated Thursday 8-12 was available. I said that was fine and I thought the appointment was scheduled. Waited for the 3 hours of the scheduled appointment and no one had arrived. So I decided to call Geis back and verify they were going to make it to the house as scheduled. Bob told me I had not called him back to book the appointment and again told me how expensive this work would be and they could not get to me until the next day. Just for clarification, I never said anything about calling back during our conversation 2 days prior. I had stated we were putting the house up for sale in the spring and so we needed to get the problem remedied. Bob said he had his notes in front of him and he wrote down about the house being put on the market, but that I was going to call back??? Flabbergasted I told him I never said I would call back, and he gave me the time frame and had again reminded me how expensive this was going to be. He then got quite aggressive towards me and pretty much called me a liar. I informed Bob that in all or the 5 houses we lived in and had made repairs during all our moves, this was the worst customer service I had ever experienced. He not only did not in any way try to fix the situation, he again told me he never made the appointment and reminded me I was going to call back for the appointment. I told Bob he had sufficiently talked me out of ever using Geis and that I would make sure other consumers did not experience the same lack of customer appreciation, especially for "such an expensive" service. He told me that was fine. I called back after hanging up and asked for the owner's phone number. I called and spoke with the owner and he was quite gracious. He offered a discount, but I told him the damage Bob created was too substantial for me to ever use or recommend Geis and that I already had booked Hartland Overhead Door for the job. During the conversation with the owner I informed him that as my husband and I are both HR professionals with over 20 years experience each as well as both of us holding Master's degrees in Organizational Communication, this whole experience was unbelievably disappointing! Explained to him we owned a small business previously ourselves and having people on your team that don't appreciate both cultivating and keeping customers is so detrimental to both the customers and the motivation of the entire team. I really cannot express to you how bad this situation was without writing pages. Just don't use them! Save yourself the hassle! Who needs any more hassles these days!!!
Description of Work: In the 8 years we have lived in the Lake Country Area, I have always called on Geis for every garage door need, including replacing a 2 door opener about 5 years ago. Never again! Called them to come out and give estimate on replacing the second garage door opener, which was $750, that seemed high, but went ahead and called Bob and booked the work. They never showed up and Bob pretty much called me a liar that I had ever booked the work! Worst customer service ever in the 7 states we have lived! Stay away!!!

The installer arrived right on time and began work immediately. My old door was removed in no time and a new door and opener was installed in about two and a half hours total time. And what a nice door and opener. I can't believe how quiet it operates compared to my old door. Both the door and the opener look very durable and should last a very long time. Thanks to Geis and the installer Kurt for a very pleasant transaction.

The Geis garage door services are very pricey, but you know, they have to pay for all those radio commercials with the catchy jingle (Don't think twice ... call Geis). We ended up using another provider who had a much lower quote. But I did want to say that I was happy with the responsiveness of the Geis staff. I called on a Saturday afternoon, and the answering service was very friendly and helpful. She had someone call me back right away to discuss whether we needed emergency service and what the pricing would be (super expensive for emergency service). The man told us what to do and not do until we could get repairs done on Monday. I thought that was very professional.

We were told that if repairs needed the price would be $90 if just reprograming needed $45 would be the price We knew the wireless keypad needed reprograming and the opener system worked fine as we could use our remotes When service man finished reprograming he tried to charge us for repairs that were not done nor needed When questioned on his price he stated "Oh my Bad" and corrected the price to the $45 I have no trust for the company and will not use them in the future

Geis was able to come out within 2 days. I was told the morning and serviceman came around 1PM. They installed a belt drive garage door opener that I had purchased (no existing one to remove). Their quote was $90/hr for labor with estimated install time of 1.5 to 2 hours. The serviceman recommended using a single piece steel rail, rather than the segmented one in the garage door kit, as it was more stable and had a longer lifespan. This was $60, but supposedly saved time on the install, therefore was price neutral. Install took one hour. He programmed the remote and wireless keypad and gave advice about garage door maintenance/lube/etc. Total cost was $150 ($90 for one hour of labor and $60 for the steel rail). Very satisfied and I would use again.

Gies office told me to be home between 8am-12pm. I took off work to be available. I called Geis that morning as I waited, at about 10am and they said Cary would be here as promised. I waited til 12:30 for Cary. No call, nothing. At 1:15 Cary calls me on my cell phone and says and quot;I understand you have a problem with a garage doorand quot;. I am now back at work. (Cary tells me he is calling me on his cell phone). I tell Cary I will not do business with him or Geis and will report the incompetence and lack of consideration for a customer. This company must be in decline. The office does not communicate and the service person is clueless. Even a call to me saying he was going to be late would have indicated he understands customers and other peoples time. When I reviewed their website it's obvious they have hired a web site and quot;scrubbingand quot; company to prevent reviews of their poor service. I am thankful to Angie's list to share this unacceptable situation.

It all was essentially seamless. Once Marcy and I had decided on the materials and design, a crew came out to measure our old doors, and Marcy was then able to give me a quote. Once I'd signed the contract and put down the deposit, the order was placed, and I was told it would probably be 3 weeks or so before the installation could be done, mainly due to the need to paint the doors. The installation date came in very close to that projection, and all went very well - with the doors being installed in less than a full day. The only glitch was that one of the windows had been cracked at the factory, and I was told about this, being given the option to wait on the installation until the window could be replaced at the factory (roughly a week or two), or to go ahead with the installation as planned, with the guys coming out a couple of weeks later, to replace the cracked window when it became available. We went with the second option, and the window replacement took perhaps 20 minutes two weeks after the initial installation. Our original garage door openers were still functional and working well, so that we did not need to replace the opener; Geis just hooked it up to the new doors. The doors work very well, and look absolutely beautiful, really, I think, enhancing the appearance of our home. The windows also make the garage interior much brighter; I hadn't realized how dark the garage was, before the door replacement.
Description of Work: We live in a 22 year old home with a 3 car, 2 door garage. The double door had had a horizontal buckle in it for at least a year, and we were warned by several people that this buckling was a potential harbinger of complete breakage of the door, and that replacement was essential. I went out to Geis' showroom after reading good reviews on Angie's List, and happened to be handed over to Marcy Dunlap (for which I am thankful), who showed me all of the potential options for replacement doors. We had had wooden painted doors, and had to decide whether to replace them with wood, steel, or a different type of composite material. The were decisions, then, to be made as to the exterior design. There were also options as to the interior "lining" of the doors, and whether to include windows or exterior hardware. We ultimately decided to stick with wood, though with a much nicer design than our old doors, and to include windows. The interior (I believe, steel) lining, was also a new feature. The doors were painted prior to installation, with a very good match.

I called Geis on 9/19/14 to make an appointment for a service technician to come out to fix my garage door. Two rollers kept coming out of the track causing the door to open awkwardly. Made the appointment for 9/23 between noon to 4PM. The technician whose name is Steve called at 2:30 and said he would be at my home in 20 minutes. He was there right on the spot. I explained the problem and he went right to work on it. It took him about a half an hour. He replaced some nuts that were missing off the track and straightened out the track where it was bent so the door could move up and down smoothly. He also said the door overall was in decent shape and did not need to be replaced at this time. I asked him the cost to replace it and he said the range was between $700.00 to $900.00 depending on the type and style of door. I was very impressed with Steve and the whole experience. Geis Building Products certainly has earned their reputation as an excellent company to work with. When the time comes for a new door Geis will definitely get my business. Great job Geis !!

The entire process was perfect. My old garage door had buckled and died. (It was only 1 year old and installed by a family member, who did his best, but an imperfect job.) The dead door was in the open position so I could at least use the garage. A neighbor had had a new garage door put in by GEIS a month before. I called GEIS for a quote (I knew exactly what kind and style of door that I wanted), the rep came out to the house while I was at work and left me a written quote. It was exactly what I hoped to pay. I called back to ask for installation. GEIS had an open slot the following week. I even paid over the phone, they did not charge my credit card until after the work was complete. The installation was done while I was at work. GEIS put in new tracks, new springs and the safety sensor, using my existing opener. They hauled away all of the removed items. It's been 4 months and the door is working flawlessly, and this time I am secure in knowing I have a guarantee. I loved the entire experience.

No problems with the install or service call years ago. On the wireless features, like a recent remote keypad problem, they talked me through a simple fix to the problems, or mentioned I could get a new keypad (which I did, through the internet) and install it myself, which was easy and saved having service coming out to the garage, which can be expensive.
Description of Work: Geis installed a new garage door way back in 2000, and there was one time they came out several years ago for a broken spring, and the service man found another problem with a roller and fixed that also at the same time. Two other times, when I had problems with the wireless features, they gave free advice over the phone.

I called the company and they scheduled Jim to come out to give me an estimate within a few days. He was very knowledgable and explained what they were going to do and why. He answered my questions about the quality and features of the door in the estimate. They were able to schedule my install within 2 weeks. Dave (Technician) arrived and got right to work, removed my old garage door and installed the new one. He also adjusted the antennae on my garage door opener to improve the range on the remotes. He was very nice, professional, knowledgable and answered all of my questions. He left my garage neat and clean when he was done. He did a great job and I am very happy with my new door and I would recommend this company to others.
