ERIK'S UPHOLSTERING

The 7' couch was done but poorly and had to be redone after two weeks of delay. We purchased more material and they did it but it took 4 weeks when it was to take two weeks. The cushions were not tight and sloppy. The pillow took 3 weeks and they cannibalized the pillow instead of copying it and didn't match the pattern (no button). I had to continue to call them to find out if it was ready and it was delayed continually!

Everything went wrong here. I had written instruction in the contact. They followed some and no others. I said that I wanted extra padding in the cushions which I didn’t get. The cording was crooked. One cushion is a little shorter than the other. The delivery was delayed by 2 days and they had to take one cushion back and still waiting on that. I specially said that the skirting on the bottom shouldn’t be any lower than what was on the sofa that I delivered them. Of course it was too long and reached the carpet. They also have a very sloppy showroom. They were not prompt and it was hard to communicate with them. I felt they didn’t listen. It was difficult to do business with them. After all of this the sofa is going to have to go back.

I needed to recover the seats of some older Scandinavian-design chairs to match some newly purchased ones (same model.) I supplied the fabric, ordered from the Danish manufacturer along with the new pieces. I could have done them myself, but opted for working with (and paying) a "pro" because I wanted the recovered chairs to look as tight and smooth as the new ones. When I went to pick up the seats, I was furious! The work was sloppy and amateurish - I could have done a better job! My brother, who worked for Bassett Furniture (Virginia) later told me that factories (and professional upholsterers) get tight, smooth seats by using 'seat-presses' that compress the air out of the padding. Obviously, Erik didn't have the right equipment to do a professional job, but took the job anyway, knowing exactly what I wanted! Dishonesty about your capabilities, and doing sloppy work using up the customer's own material imported at $140/yard from Denmark, do not make for a happy customer!

It was easy to use this company. I had several bids from companies using photo's and descriptions. This company offered the lowest bid. I have used him before and knew that he would do a good job. I had bought the fabric and he put it on. It is 99% perfect and has the "wow" factor.

ERIC'S IS NOT A FANCY SHOP FROM THE EXTERIOR BUT THEY HAVE EVERYTHING YOU'D NEED OR WANT TO UPHOLSTER ANYTHING. THEY REMOVED SOME PAINT SMEARS ON OUR CHAIR AT NO CHARGE AND COVERED THE WOODEN CHEST TO CREATE A FOOTSTOOL NO QUESTIONS ASKED EXCEPT THE RIGHT ONES.

WHEN THEY FINISHED THE JOB, THE CHAIRS HAD SEVERAL PLACES ON THEM THAT WERENT DONE QUITE RIGHT. I HAD TO KEEP CALLING THEM BEFORE THEY FINALLY RESPONDED TO ME. THE JOB THEY DID WAS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED AND I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN.

THEIR TIMING WAS GREAT! I WOULD HIRE THEM AGAIN FOR A SMALLER JOB.

CLEAR ESTIMATES WERE NOT GIVEN FOR THE ENTIRE JOB. THERE WAS DISAGREEMENT WITHIN THE SHOP ON METHODS FOR MAKING PATTERNS, SO MULTIPLE TRIPS NEEDED TO BE MADE TO COMPLETE THE ORDER, AND CUSHIONS NEEDED TO BE REMADE BECAUSE ORIGINAL INSTRUCTIONS WERE NOT FOLLOWED.

THEY HAD FREE PICK-UP AND DELIVERY, STARTED ON MY FURNITURE RIGHT AWAY AND FINISHED EARLIER THAN THE ONE MONTH THEY HAD ANTICIPATED.
