I want to share my experience with Brookfield Auto so that I can try to prevent the same thing from happening to others that happened to me. I started taking my truck to Brookfield Auto last summer for AC issues. Since then, I have had to bring my truck to them 5 different times. Every time I dropped my truck off with them, I would with pick it up and have the same issue a week later or they would fix one issue but cause damage/issues with something else. Eventually, I found myself without AC and heat after taking it to them! I attempted to take my truck elsewhere after the second time I picked up my truck from them and was still having issues, but no one wanted to work on it since Brookfield Auto care had already messed with it. I had no choice but to keep taking it to them. $1800 later and over a year later, I still had no AC/heat or it would kick in and out. I went all last winter without any heat and had gotten stranded in parking lots on more then one occasion because my defrosters would not work. I finally decided to ask my boyfriend and a friend of his to try to help. They started doing a little bit of research on YouTube and asking around, and figured out that the blower motor failing is a common issue with Chevy Silverado pick ups. They picked up the part from Auto Zone for $95, changed it in one hour having almost NO experience with mechanical work, and my AC and heat have been working beautifully ever since. It turns out it was an easy, cheap, and simple fix all along but Brookfield Auto never even bothered to try it. The guys at Brookfield Auto are not only incompetent but also dishonest. Dan and Rick will act like they care but do not trust them. One of the the times I dropped my truck off by them, Dan quoted me $750 for the repair. I went in there that same day and talked to Rick before I had decided if I wanted them to move forward with the repair or not, who then quoted me $250 for the same exact repair! I hope no one has to put up with as much crap as I did from Brookfield Auto but if you do chose to go there be prepared to be taken advantage of and lied to. I wouldn't trust these guys with a kids bicycle!

I had an initial good visit when Mike (I guess a guy named Jake is there now) was there because I felt comfortable with that place I had my wife take her car there to replace the brakes. Unfortunately I was unavailable for a long time and when they called her they said all the calipers, rotors and pads had to be replaced because one caliper had stuck out and had "unbalanced" the rest of the calipers so they were all stuck on the interior portion. They quoted my wife $1300 dollars and unfortunately they car was already in the driveway before I could even weigh in. The business must have changed hands recently and now I most definitely will not be going to this place knowing that they game their customers on things like this. I could understand replacing one caliper but all 4 with an excuse like that! They even sent a postcard in the mail stating that the water pump and the timing belt should be changed soon.

All good reviews were when Mike was there. Since he left they are now pulling the usual stuff we all fear. My main beef was that they marked up the parts so much. I checked and was charged 100-125 over retail at Advance, Oreilleys auto part price. It was even 20 more than the GM oem! I just got the feeling I was being taken advantage of. Over 50 percent of the time they recommended oem GM parts. Thats ok if I need it but I'm better off at the dealer with their warranty and expertise. Based on there labor rate if that's the case I'm saving 40 buck by taking it to these guys. I had 3 serial repairs in the 600-800 range and it just seemed odd "spooky". Then found out cruise control wasn't working so I began taking it somewhere else. Turns out the wire was disconnected?? New mechanic asked anybody working on this, I'm like no. He said these don't usually come apart its 10 pins with a latch "spooky"?

I dropped my car off for service and was given a ride to my workplace, not too far away. I had indicated that I would need the car back by 1:30 pm. When I called around that time the service was completed and Mike, the manager sent an employee to pick me up at work and take me back to the shop. This has been my consistent experience in dealing with Mike and Brookfield Auto Service.
Description of Work: This visit was for an oil change. But I have used Brookfield Auto Service going on two years and for much more serious issues such as replacing serpentine belts and new brakes, I previously had my car serviced at the auto dealer where I purchased it and believe that I was way overcharged. Brookfield provides reasonable pricing and accurate estimates of what the cost will be. No surprises.

After never finding anyone that we felt we could trust to give us an honest appraisal of what needs to be done on our cars, we finally found Mike at Brookfield Auto Care. He gives us an honest "you don't need to do that now, come back in a few months and we'll see then if it is needed" opinions. He is not trying to push you into getting stuff done just because. He takes the time to look at the car itself and not at your wallet. We finally found someone who we believe can give us an honest opinion, do automative work at a reasonable price and is very kind and professional. We trust our cars to Brookfield Auto Care because they care.

I have a long history with these guys. I found them when I was looking for someone to work on my '92 Cadillac Allante. They do dealer equivalent work at lower prices. In this case my wife called right after her little accident and I had her drive it over to Brookfield auto - if it could not have been driven I would have called for Brookfield to come tow it (free service). I called my insurance company (Safco ? a good insurance company) and they went out to appraise the car. They worked with the manager at the shop to determine the damage and decided not to totals the car (a near thing). Brookfield auto represented my well in this conversation - rejecting a request to find used parts for some of the work. I appreciated this as used parts would have seriously compromised the quality of the repair. Once the repair plan was established Brookfield Auto proceeded to use their body shop and larger service shop (all located within 5 miles) to do the work. I was kept informed of the progress and I visited the car once. I was able to talk with the crew doing the work and the owner. I was very pleased with the experience. I marked them down on Quality and Punctuality because I am a stickler for grading. In my business excellence is a hard thing to achieve. One item had to be brought back for additional work (alarm system) and the original date was missed due to a parts availability problem. Having said all this - please be aware that Brookfield Auto does indeed stand out as a good alternative for service on your car. BUT - this is very much buyers beware market. Even the good shops, like Brookfield Auto, are moving a lot of vehicles in and out every day. There is not a lot of time for in depth analysis. Mistakes can be made because assumptions are left unchallenged. Anyone taking a car in anywhere for work really needs to force a detailed discussion on options and expected out comes.
Description of Work: I took a 2005 Subaru Forester to them that had been in a small fender bender. Since Brookfield Auto is actually one of five shops under the same ownership I knew they could do all aspects of the repair. This was run through my insurance company and they had no problems working together. Even though the Subaru is not a common car the repairs were done on time and to my satisfaction. We had body work done, an entire wire harness replaced, new radiator/fan and the ABS pump replaced.

I took the car in for muffler work after my wife had taken it to another shop that performed patch work that lasted only a few days. Brookfield Auto Care determined that the entire exhaust system needed to be replaced. They were a day later than promised in determining the problem which is the reason for the "B" in responsiveness and punctuality. The work was performed as promised and when they discovered that they could not use the Pieces that were patched into the system the called for approval to replace it. This is a 16 year old Nissan Altima, but is runs and runs with 270,000 miles. I've had work performed on both my cars by them and have always been happy with their work

I HAVE A 10-YEAR-OLD CAR. I EXPECT PROBLEMS. BROOKFIELD AUTO CARE NEITHER UNDERSOLD NOR OVERSOLD. THEY ALSO PROVIDED SHUTTLE SERVICE. ALSO, THEY COULD HAVE EASILY SAID I NEEDED MORE DONE, BUT THEY DIDN'T. INTEGRITY.
Description of Work: Used $30 coupon for oil change, tire rotation, brake check on car. Car is 10-years-old so I expected at least brake work as needed.
