I called and spoke with a receptionist on 5/13/2016 to inquire on the possibility of obtaining a quote for a basement bathroom remodel. The individual that I spoke with asked if we planned on moving anything or were just looking for remodel services. I explained that we were looking to keep everything the same and just solely looking for remodel services. The receptionist then asked roughly 10 -15 minutes’ worth of questions to understand the project and what we were looking to have completed, at the end of the conversation, I as informed that I would be getting a call back within 3-5 days to set-up a in person meeting. As of 5/54/2016 I have not received follow-up from Bath & Kitchen Specialists therefore I called back to inquire on the status of the request. Following my voicemail, I received a call from Gordon who indicated that they do not completed basement bathroom remodeling. I expressed my concerns with the turnaround time of the phone calls and the waiting period to find out that they do not complete the renovation that we are requesting. He indicated that he had in fact called me. Upon review of my call log, I did find a call on 5/18/2016 however, there was no voicemail message left requesting that I return a call. The phone conversion with Gordon was unpleasant and abrasive/aggressive. During the conversation he mentioned all of the items of remodeling that they do not complete. I informed him of my conversation with the receptionist and the misinformed information I was provided – his response was “not every employee can know every detail of what we do”. While I understand those circumstances, I also feel strongly that customer service should play a large role in the impression that you provide to potential clients. Needless to say, I would not recommend Bath and Kitchen Specialist to any of my friends or family solely based on the conversation and impression received from my small points of contact.

WE DID NO WORK FOR THIS INDIVIDUAL. This individual starts her report by suggesting I did not return her original phone call which was left with our receptionist. By her own admission, she later admits in the same report, that I did return her call. Her complaints about the receptionist were unfair. Our receptionist does a great job and should not be expected to have the answer to every question. The receptionist's job is to take down general information about the remodeling being requested. When I return to the office, I call the potential client and determine if it is the type of remodeling we are specialized in. If it is, a design date is scheduled. This individual's project was not the type of work we do. Therefore, she gave us an F. I do not believe we ever received less than a B from clients we actually did work for. Consequently, I do not feel that reports of this nature, where no work was done, should be list or included in our grade averages! The only D's or F's we have ever received on Angie's List have come from situations similar to the above, in which we refused to do work outside of our expertise and guidelines, or there were personality conflicts. We urge you to please read the reviews written by clients whom we actually did a design and remodel for. Thank you.

They were awesome, the job came in on time and on budget. I'd highly recommend them.
It went Great! We are thrilled. First of all the team from Bath and Kitchen are really nice people and they are there every day from the day they start. They can do all the work which meant few contractors were coming and going from our home while we were at work. They were punctual and communicative filling us in on anything unexpected. They were patient with us as we make a few changes during the process. We could rest assured that our home was in good hands each day and our dogs were there in a back bedroom and we always felt they were safe. Secondly, the Bath and Kitchen Specialist team are very detailed oriented right from the first visit, we went though every detail of the job. We knew what was being done and approximately how long it would take and anything that might be consider a Time & Materials charge BEFORE the work began. We knew what to expect and they did not disappoint us. They are hard works who are wonderful craftsmen, they were done on time and within budget. There were very few surprises which can cause the costs of a remodel of this size to explode. That did not happen. There were a couple things that came up that altered how things would be done and they called and talked with us about options, they always kept us informed. The outcome is wonderful...this is a 62 year old house that my parents built, we wanted to keep the integrity of the house while updating it and Bath & Kitchen Specialists did that. They understood our vision and guided us our in decision making. We could not be happier. The whole project took about 6 weeks and we even felt confident leaving for a weeks vacation while they continued with the work. We would recommend Bath & Kitchen to anyone and will use them again in the future when we plan to add another bathroom to our second level.
Description of Work: We had a full remodel of our kitchen, a complete tear out including soffits, all new cabinets, flooring, counters, windows and electric which included opening a wall between the kitchen and dining room. Also, we had our dining room updated, with new cabinets, removal of old paneling, chair-rail installed, painting, all new windows, new flooring and lighting and finally we had our bathroom remodeled which included a new window, removal of all old wall tile, and a tub and a new tiled walk-In shower, painting and new flooring and lighting.

I am doing this review a year after the job was completed and still very happy with work done. The reason I picked them was price, the fact that they only do one project at a time and you have the same guys the whole time. I don't think you will find that with any other company. Gordon is the owner and a master plumber so he overseas the whole job. He has a designer, she helps you pick everything out and determine where you want things to go. The 2 guys that come everyday were amazing. They were on time everyday, made sure everything outside the bathroom was protected and cleaned up everyday before they left. They worked hard and steady the whole time they were here. They have worked together a long time and worked really well together. The estimate on the job was originally 14k but I upgraded several things and it ended up being 17k. There were no surprises. The time to complete the job was 7 days. If you have every had remodeling done you know how amazing it is to have the entire job done in that amount of time. The other estimates I got were estimating 4-6 weeks and they wouldn't have someone there everyday. B&K worked around when the electrician and others needed to be there working non-stop the entire time. They also had the inspectors there exactly when they needed so there was no down time. I love my bathroom!
Description of Work: Entirely gutted main bathroom all the way to the studs.

The entire process was first rate. We spent a day with Kim in the design phase making selections and working out all of the details. Dan and Mark did a great job and were very respectful of our home and did their best to keep things clean. From start to finish, they gave us a wonderful new bathroom in less than two weeks, which is what was predicted. The total price came in a bit over the original estimate, but this was not unexpected since we were told there may be some surprises once the soffits were removed, and indeed there were. Overall, we are extremely happy with our new bathroom, and the process that made it happen.
Description of Work: We had our main bathroom completely remodeled. with all new fixtures and cabinets, new tile floor and tiled tub/shower area. We also added an exhaust fan.

Homeowners should be able to go out and purchase their own materials since that is normally a huge savings. Being forced into buying contractor materials isn't fair. Plus who knows where the materials came from, if they are defective, etc....Based on these factors I would NOT recommend this company.
Description of Work: Basically told us that if we don't use his materials we're out of luck.

WE DID NO WORK FOR THIS INDIVIDUAL. We feel there is no justification in this negative review. His email requests could not be accomplished in a professional or business-like manner, and he refused to provide a phone number or call us to properly discuss those issues. He requested a bid without us seeing the job. He expected us to install products we did not guide him through the purchase of, and guarantee those installations. Our customers can furnish certain products and can choose any reputable manufacturers’ products they prefer. Our company guarantees those products and any labor to repair or replace those products for three years. His idea that a home owner reaps a huge savings by purchasing their own materials is a total fallacy, and is a misleading sales tactic used by some contractors. Their services are not free, and they will charge more somewhere else. When obtaining bids, the total price will tell you where the savings are, if you are careful to obtain bids for equal product allowances and services. Angie now provides her members with the ability to qualify another member’s reviews by clicking on “View This Members Profile”. It’s a great tool for members to analyze how this member, who did a review on our company, got along with other service providers. This will help you obtain a more accurate understanding of what took place in the email exchange we had with this individual. We also urge you to read the reviews written by customers whom we actually did a remodel for. Thank you.
We had met with several potential places to perform our work as this was the first major renovation we have ever done. After comparing the amount of time spent with us, truly listening to our concerns and providing us with what we wanted, and providing it at the best cost made this a very easy selection for us. Kim, the designer is amazing. She had a ton of ideas when she visited our home and made it a truly positive experience. The actual "design" took over 8 hours at the office to make sure that every little detail is planned out ahead of time. We were exhausted at the end of the day. However, without doing that, you can easily see where remodeling projects get out of hand and end up costing a lot more dollars and time. The cost also remained within the original quote (we made a few minor adjustments for a couple hundred dollars at our own choosing). An estimate of the time for the project was provided. Dan and Mark performed the actual work. They were great, kept us informed and did fabulous work. The site was kept clean which was tough considering there was a lot of snow outside. They also finished at the lower end of the time projection that was provided to us which was great as I had to go on a business trip and wanted to have this wrapped up. After the work was completed, a detailed walk through occurred for us to make sure we were happy with the work, to ask questions and to advise how we were to take care of all of our new products. This was extremely helpful. Within a month or two, we had a minor fix that was needed. Dan came out and took care of it right away. We also had a few more questions in the past month and spoke with Gordon, 11 months past the project date, and Dan again came out and answered our questions, and made a couple of minor adjustments. We are confident that if something comes up, we can continue to ask questions or have someone out if needed. We are so pleased with our results (and everyone that comes through is very impressed), that we will probably look at a kitchen remodel in 2015.
Description of Work: Remodel of 15 year old master bathroom including flooring, tiling, vanity top, lighting, toilet, shower (inlcuding raising the ceiling over the shower by 12". Only things not changed were the whirlpool tub and the cabinetry which was still in great condition.
Bath and Kitchen Specialists? approach to the remodeling project was nothing short of amazing. Their attention to detail became apparent on Kim?s first visit. An eight page list of preferences was completed. Kim?s next visit included a computer mock-up of what the remodeled bathroom would look like and a complete list of the estimated cost. A one day ?decorate? with Kim was then scheduled. Although totally exhausted after a full day of selections, I knew my job was done and it was in their hands. I was given an estimate of when the project would begin as the jobs are scheduled in order of receipt. BKS?s technicians, Dan and Mark, are true craftsmen and great to work with. The beauty of having two people doing the work is you don?t have a string of contractors in and out on their own schedule. The time estimate for completion of the project was eleven days and came in right on time. All along the way, I was kept totally informed. The project organization was incredible. There is no doubt in my mind that BKS is the best around!
Description of Work: BKS remodeled the master bathroom, last remodeled about 1998, gutting the interior, installing new shower, toilet, sinks, vanity counter top, tile floor, replacing woodwork, removing wallpaper and painting.

We were very pleased with the entire process of working with Bath and Kitchen Specialists. The initial consultation with Kim was very detailed - and helped us get our thoughts together. Based on this meeting, Kim worked up a very detailed proposal. Much different than other contractors that we worked with. We appreciated this level of detail to make sure we clearly understood what was included. Once we decided to move forward - we spend an entire day with Kim to pick out all the materials. We didn't think it would take that long - but it really did. It was amazing how many decisions that were needed to be made. It made it so much easier that we could do everything at one time - in their showroom - instead of having to run around from store to store. Once we signed the contract - the orders for all the materials were placed. They didn't start working until everything was in - which really helped keep things moving along - the entire project took about 2 weeks (with a bit more time for the shower glass). The process went smoothly and both Dan and Mark were on site every day. They were very efficient and communicated with us on pretty much a daily basis. We were very happy with the results and love our bathroom. There were some concerns in other posts about the level of detail in the contract, etc - I appreciated that level of detail so there were no surprises. You can tell that they have many years of experience under their belt and have the bath and kitchen remodel process down pat.
Description of Work: We had our master bathroom remodeled. This included removal and replacement of the vanity, countertop and sinks. Also removing a shower and installing a frameless glass shower, all tiling and re-routing plumbing as necessary. Also tiling floor, painting and lighting.

We were very pleased with the quality and workmanship. Bath and Kitchen Specialists have a great process. They only work on one project at a time, so my kitchen remodel was always their top priority through out the project. The owner, designer and craftsmen are very detail oriented and listened carefully to our ideas and vision. They worked on a previous project for us, the master bath so we knew they would do a wonderful job on the kitchen project. We highly recommend using Bath and Kitchen Specialists for your remodel project.
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel, powder room remodel and remove dining room wall to create a great room.
They are probably the best contractor I've ever come in contact with. They're true craftsmen, and their attention to detail is unlike anything I've ever seen. Dan and Mark were the guys on site everyday, and they were excellent. Kim was the designer, and she was awesome to work with. They worked very cleanly, and the end result exceeded my expectations. They are even using our kitchen in their portfolio for the upcoming home remodeling convention season. I would use them again!

While they were a little more expensive then others, their work and pride in craftsmanship showed through and was well worth the small extra price. The detail that Bath and Kitchen Specialist's goes through in their "decorate" was incredible as it took 9 hours, but once again, it was well worth the effort. We could not be happier with the results. We would recommend Bath and Kitchen Specialist's to anybody. I give them a 10 on a scale of 1-10.

BKS did an amazing job on both of our projects, and we will be using them again for additional bathroom remodeling projects in our home. Their in-house design services are outstanding with every possible detail being covered before the project begins. Their documentation of the process, materials, and costs is extremely detailed and accurate - there are no surprises after the project begins. BKS is a small company which means you always know who to contact, and you always receive a prompt reply. Based on my research, BKS completes projects in much less time than other remodeling companies. Our master bathroom was completed in 8-9 days, and our kitchen was completed in about four weeks. We were amazed with the level of craftsmanship in incorporating the new cabinets, piping, vents, wiring, and molding into the existing home, which is 40 years old. They were also very professional and respectful of our family while working in our home each day. After using the new kitchen during the holiday season, we could not be more pleased with the design and all of the details are perfect for our family.
Description of Work: We have used BKS for two major remodeling projects in our home - a master bathroom three years ago and a kitchen this past summer.

We were thrilled with our experience with Bath and Kitchen Specialists, Inc., Our kitchen turned out even better than anticipated in an incredibly expedient manner and at a reasonable price. Communication was excellent. All questions were met with a great attitude and answered quickly. From the designer to the technicians, when they were working on our kitchen, we were given their full attention. There was much time spent preparing us for what to expect during construction. Being a 60 year old house, there were quite a few things that needed to be corrected to make for a nice finished project. Their depth of experience made for very little drama and gave us great confidence in their abilities. Thanks to Gordon Caesar and his expert staff we have a new sense of pride in our home. Now, time for a new bath!

the project was completed on time. The "Technicians" get an A for creative thinking in adapting an older home to modern design. When I commented to the owner that changes were not unexpected, his response was "well good for you". Of course ever adaptation had a cost associated which we paid for without delay. The contracts are laboriously long and it might help to have a contractor and lawyer by your side. We are pleased with the end product.

We are very pleased with the drawers and the service we were given! This is a WONDERFUL company, and we would use them again!!
Description of Work: A year and a half ago, we had our kitchen and family room remodeled by Bath and Kitchen Specialists. A few days after Christmas, we noticed that two of the pull out drawers in the kitchen were coming apart., due to the fact that we had put too much weight in them We called Mr. Caesar, and he told us to bring the drawers into his office and he would take care of them for us. He had them repaired in a timely manner. We feel this service was over and above what a company should do, since it really was our fault the drawers fell apart.

We could not be happier! The entire process, from design to completion, went flawlessly. The process of picking the colors and materials went very smoothly. Really enjoyed being able to do it all in their office, rather than chasing all over town to various suppliers and sub-contractors as some of our other bidders would have had us do. The actual demo and construction process went as well as could be expected. Their technicians were very friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us trying to live around their tearing the guts out of our first floor master bath. The whole process took a little over a week and they were very good about cleaning up at the end of the project. This bathroom serves our master bedroom and 1st floor living space, so it was certainly a major disruption of our lives for the time they were there. We were able to use our second floor bathroom during the project. I don't know how it could have been handled any better than it was by B&K Specialists. B&K has this process down to a science. If you let them do their jobs and take their advice on the logistics of getting the project done, you will be very happy with the results! I know we were.
Description of Work: Complete Master Bath remodel. All old fixtures, counter tops and cabinets removed, walls stripped to the studs in most places, old fiberglass shower stall removed. Counter top and sink removed from adjacent dressing area. New counter tops and cabinets installed. Mirrored medicine cabinet installed above counter top. New plumbing and electrical fixtures installed. Ceramic tile shower stall installed. New cabinet and sink installed in dressing area. New Dura-ceramic flooring installed.

After identifying this company as one that we wanted to pursue an estimate with, I called to start the bid process. I was greeted by a friendly woman who asked me some general questions about what we were looking for, about our home set-up, and preliminary questions about timeline and budget. I knew that the company had some requirements that had to be met before they took on a job, and she made sure to screen those areas to make sure that this was a job her company could potentially take on. After our conversation, she took down my contact information and let me know that the owner would get in touch with me, and gave me a timeframe for that call. When the owner did call, he asked me some more questions about the job, and made sure that we were willing to make the monetary commitment that a full kitchen remodel requires. After affirming this with him, I was told that someone would call me back to schedule a site visit, and he let me know that it would probably be a few weeks before we could be scheduled in. Since we had no time restrictions, this was fine with us and we continued pursuing our other estimates while we waited for the appointment. We got the site visit scheduled and one of the lead technicians, Mark, came to our house for the appointment. He was very pleasant, and went over quite a few details for us. He presented their process, gave us indications of what would happen, and filled in a checksheet as we went further into detail about what we wanted, and what ideas we had to start with. Then he made measurements of our kitchen. Since this was the final company to come do a site visit out of all the companies we had contacted for an estimate, we had an idea of how other companies did their initial visits. From the get-go, Bath & Kitchen Specialists stood out from the others. We were impressed by the orderly and detailed way they went about gathering the necessary information. They covered a lot more ground than any of the other companies. We also really appreciated that a key employee within the company was the one who came by for our first meeting. They didn't send out a teen sales associate who didn't know or care about the project - they sent a tech who actually ended up working at our site to do our renovation. He was knowledgeable and experienced and was not there to make a sales pitch, but to gather the applicable details to make an informed estimate. The next step was for Mark to take the measurements and details to their designer who would help form a preliminary plan off of which they would base their estimate. Mark and Kim, the designer, came out together so that she could actually see the space and talk to us about the proposal they had drawn up. Again, this visit was very informative, professional, and structured in a way that made us comfortable that all aspects of the job had been identified and accounted for. We had the feeling that we wouldn't have to fear a lot of "surprises" if we went with them for our project. They gave us an itemized list of all of the work work and materials that would go into the final design, with numbers, lengths, and all sorts of well-considered details. We went through item by item and made changes, clarifications, or recommendations as needed. At the end of this in-person presentation, we were given our estimate for both price and work time for completion. We'll admit that after seeing how thorough and inclusive Bath & Kitchen Specialists were with their estimate process, we were afraid that their estimate was going to be significantly higher than the other companies who had already given us their bids. However, that was not the case at all. Bath & Kitchen Specialists was able to come the closest to our goal budget, as well as having already won our respect for their process and attention to detail. We chose this company with confidence in having them deliver the final result that we were looking for. Another very impressive aspect of working with Kim to further design and refine our choices was that she was very willing to respect our budget and always had good ideas or tips to get us what we wanted in the best and most cost-effective way. We never once felt pressured to spend more, or judged if we made a request or suggestion. She was always there to lend expertise where we needed it, or to assist us when we needed decision tie-breakers. We were asked to set aside an entire 8 hour day to go through the entire plan and choose everything we wanted, but it was necessary and it was worth it. Kim even took us out to lunch for a break in the middle, and drove us around to see the actual items we were considering. When the time came for the actual work to get done, we were again impressed with the speed and efficiency of the two technicians responsible for the entire job, Mark and Dan. Communication was very good, and if anything ever came up during their work, they would give us a call and talk it over before going on, no matter how small the question was. This gave us a sense of control and assured us that the project was going as planned, and that we wouldn't end up with nasty surprises. Since just two main techs did the entire job, we never had to worry that they were doing sloppy work or not committed to how the final room would look. They were responsible from start to finish, and the pride in their workmanship showed and was very much appreciated. The guys even completed the work in less time than they anticipated, and we encountered no hold-ups on any of the specialty items (plumbing, electrical, counter-tops). Everything was very well planned and executed. At the end of the project, we were so happy with the result and with the final cost. This company does a superb job, and their high volume of job requests shows that. If you have a job that meets the company's requirements (which are there so that they can provide the best results possible), and the time availability to wait for a spot to open with them, we recommend that you do - it will be worth it!

Prior to signing the initial proposal I had requested to visit their office to view some of the product we were discussing to see if it was of the quality I was looking for. There was huge resistance to this since the office is not necessarily a showroom. However, as I would not agree to sign until I could visit, arrangements were made. I think this should have been my first clue. The proposal given by B&K informs the customer that planning the project should take 7-9 hours. I found this to be impossible due to the amount of legwork and options one must consider in making product choices. When I commented that I was trying to work within a particular budget, Gordon Cesar showed his true colors by actually yelling at me about how much I had cost him in the extra hours I had taken of his company time during this planning stage. I was also put on notice that he never wanted to hear from my husband again who apparently had asked too many questions during the initial stages. I STRONGLY recommend that a potential client request to see ALL paperwork that will be required to be signed so you are not surprised at the last moment with something you need to digest or discuss with an attorney. The need for this extra time will be frowned upon. Trust me that there is nothing in the contract that protects the client, only the company. In fact, in the final contract, the client must agree that only a single individual will speak with the company or it's employees so if there are two spouses, only one is allowed to communicate. There was never a moment during the weeks I worked with this company when I did not leave their office feeling I had just been bullied and intimidated. These feelings were so intense that at the moment of signing I simply could not do so as I felt I would be selling my soul if I did. When we were confronted by the owner about canceling this job, he accused us of having only engaged them so that we could steal their ideas. That's right, Gordon. I gave up $700 to walk away empty handed and have to start all over again. I can tell you this .... it was a spectacularly expensive but worthwhile lesson. Never again will we allow anyone to treat us the way this man did. I only hope his employees make the same decision, as it is profoundly apparent he bullies and intimidates them in the same horrendous manner. If you are looking for a customer-friendly company who will support and understand you through a project that can sometimes bring surprises and frustrations, this is probably not your best choice. Final Response: 1. There is NOTHING stated in the original posting that was untrue. 2. I am certainly delighted past and current clients they have worked for have had a positive experience. My purpose was in sharing my own experience which was not positive and appreciate that Angies List provides an opportunity to express that so the general public can make an informed decision. In viewing this provider's entire list of reviews, it is evident I am not the only individual who had a negative experience. 3. There is nothing in the contact we did not honor. 4. Their proposal does make a statement that the decorating process generally takes a specific number of hours and indeed it took longer than even I anticipated, but there is nothing in the contract that sets a limit as to the time you are allowed (although I wouldn't be surprised to find there is one now) and I never knew this to be a punishable offense. In fact, I was stunned that I was yelled at for having taken up so much of their time. 5. I did ask about the possibility of supplying some of my own product ..... again another punishable offense? 6. The state and federal documents were given to me only at the end of the week-long decorating process when I was also asked for the check, not at the beginning. These documents were disconcerting as they are disclaimers that state that some of the materials that are ordered, like wood finishes or flooring, may not come in exactly as the samples that are chosen. However, if this happens, the client is still required to accept them. This is where, after everything else, I felt too uncomfortable to go forward without further consideration. Stating this discomfort made Kim, the assistant, extremely frustrated. 7. My husband did indeed show up the next day without an appointment because I had promised to return their sample materials, which is all he intended to do. I will not cross the line to state the details of the conversation Kim had with my husband, but when he explained why we would not continue with this company, she said she fully understood and then, in great emotional distress, told him about her frustrations and fears with regard to her job. My husband lent an ear and a shoulder, was shocked by some of the information and offered her some sage advice about resources that could help her in her situation. The information was so distressing, I felt torn about calling to check on her well-being the next day. 8. Again, having never worked with a contractor of this nature, I feel our experience has been invaluable.
Description of Work: We engaged Bath & Kitchen Specialists to do a complete master bath remodel. After a tension-filled introduction and proposal by the company, we decided to hire them based on previous Angie's List reviews. We paid the deposit to begin the planning stages and that's when the nightmare began.

Response from BATH AND KITCHEN SPECIALISTS, INC
THIS IS A NO-WORK DONE REPORT. THESE MEMBERS DID NOT HONOR THE CONTRACT THE WIFE SIGNED, AND THE FINAL SERVICES WERE NOT PERFORMED. PLEASE READ OUR RESPONSE TO HEAR THE ENTIRE STORY. The dedicated staff and I, who were involved with this couple, are saddened, insulted, and shocked by the collection of untruths in this unappreciative, inaccurate and unbelievable report. Please review the many overwhelmingly positive reports written by customers for whom we actually did a remodel. Since this report on our company was made, two different Angie's List members we have done work for called with support and advice. They questioned this member's intent. They wondered why this member went through the entire preliminary process, if everything was so terrible from day one, and then bailed out when a down payment was required. Their combined consensus was that Angie's members are responsible for providing accurate reports, so that other members can make accurate choices. They did not feel this member's report could be accurate because they had gone through an entire remodel with our company that was entirely positive. They encouraged me to respond to a report of this nature by sharing what took place, without trying to be gentle and politically correct. Here is the rest of the story. This couple wanted an entire bathroom remodeled with the tub converted to a shower and the basin location moved. After the initial visit to their home, which we call the design stage, we went back to their home a second time for what we call the presentation. At the presentation they were provided with a very detailed proposal which included the work to be completed, and quality product allowances for those products they had not decided on. Floor plans and 3-D colored renderings were shown as to how the room would look after the tub had been converted to a shower, and the basin moved. A few days after the presentation, the wife called and apologized for her husband’s treatment of the designer at the presentation, and said they wanted us to proceed after her husband talked to the owner. When I called him, he stated that in order for our company to get this job, we would have to absorb any increase in expenses that might occur if their final decisions exceeded allowances given in the original bid. This unrealistic request was obviously turned down, yet he did decide he wanted to go ahead and have us remodel their bathroom. We then began at our Selection Center what we call "the decorate" which only the wife attended. At the decorate our talented lead designer, with 30 years experience, helps the customer color-coordinate all the products from floor to ceiling and make final product choices. The proposal is reviewed, and any changes requested by the homeowner are made. State and federal documents required by law are provided along with the contract and payment schedule to be approved by the homeowner. The decorating process for the final decisions on a bathroom of this scale typically takes 6-8 hours, including a one hour break for lunch. For this customer it took five days, totaling 31 hours including additional office time. Keep in mind that prior to this we had spent 26 hours at the design, presentation, preparing floor plans, renderings, proposal, and pre-decorate. On the third day of the decorate she announced that her son was a contractor, and she wanted him to furnish materials. We cannot guarantee materials or service on materials furnished by others. On the fifth day of the decorate she signed the contract. She claimed she had forgotten her checkbook but promised to bring back, by the next day, a check for the down payment along with a signed contract by her husband. Her husband had not attended the decorate on any of the five days. This contract now included $2,847.00 in changes and upgrades made by the wife over and above the original bid. Three days later the husband showed up at our office unannounced, and without a signed contract or down payment. The lead designer was there alone and listened to him for over 10 minutes. He had never met her before, yet he told her what was wrong with her. Also, he had only negative words for the policies and procedures our company follows. These are the same organizational policies and procedures that other members and customers appreciate and compliment us for. Furthermore, this man has never met me. Yet, when I called him for some clarification on his visit to our office, he proceeded to call me names and make negative and insulting remarks about me. Then without allowing me a response, he hung up. We have not received the down payment or have we heard from either of them since that phone conversation. In conclusion: We feel that as long as Angie’s List includes reports about contractors who HAVE NOT PERFORMED A SERVICE along with reports where a service has been performed, the threat of a bad report will be abused by a few members with unfair or unrealistic demands. This can diminish the integrity of Angie's List and the company on which the report was made. We sincerely thank the many courteous Angie’s List members who have been great customers, and have been cooperative and enjoyable to work with. Our great team looks forward to serving many more members in the future. Thank You.

We are thrilled with the bathrooms. We spent a lot of time with Kim (the designer) selecting every item for each bath from the many choices available. She was such a pleasure to work with and so very knowledgeable about the products from faucets to counter tops. The detail she went over with us from the type of products available to the exact placement of each towel bar, the decorative tile and every other detail was amazing. By the time we left Kim, there was nothing left out and we fully knew exactly what was going into each of the bathrooms. Kim provided us with a Final Proposal for each bath that was over 4 pages long (for each bath) listing every detail and we mean EVERY detail. We also got detailed floor plans and a computer rendition of what each bath would look like. The proposal also clearly spelled out what would be Time & Material charges, which we did have. The workmanship was absolutely great. Dan & Mark (the technicians) strived to make everything just right. There were no crews of different people, only Dan and Mark every day, except for an electrician on one day. We really like the idea that there was stability in who would be in our house every day, especially since my husband and I were home every day with them. What we really impressed me was that Dan & Mark took the time to think everything out as they were doing it and gave me additional options along the way. The estimate for the remodel was for 18 workdays for the two baths and they came in right on time. Dan & Mark are the most efficient workers I have ever seen. Tile was measured and laid with precision. They accidently popped off plaster from two walls (in the hall & bedroom) and fixed each area so well you cannot see the difference. As noted in their company description, they do leave their truck backed up to your garage, which they use as a workspace. They also leave tools in the house every night, but contained it very neatly. This does make it readily accessible for them so that they can just hop to it every morning. This method of operation probably accounts for their efficiency and the fact that they can do such a complete remodel in a short period. There is no wasted time packing and unpacking everything each day. We have nothing, absolutely nothing else but high praises for Bath & Kitchen Specialists. Our bathrooms look First Class!!
Description of Work: Bath & Kitchen Specialists completed two full bathroom remodels, one bath had a tub and the other a shower stall. All of the tile was removed from the walls, soffits were removed above the shower and tub and a new ceiling flush with the rest of the room was built. Part of a wall in the shower was removed. Galvanized pipes to the sink and toilets were replaced with copper. A heating duct had to be moved unexpectedly. Tile was installed on the lower part of the wall in the non-bathing area and up to the ceiling in the shower and the tub surround. New soaker bath tub was installed as were new vanities with quartz counter tops, all lighting and faucets/shower/mixing valves. All walls and ceilings to be painted were prepped, primed and painted in the colors of my choice. An in wall heater was installed. Towel bars, towel ring, hooks and toilet paper holders were installed. A custom shower door was ordered and installed by the shower door people, not Bath & Kitchen.
