Description of Work: We have had ADT for over 4 years. Their website is great and it is easy to work with that. If you need to call and talk to a person, good luck! You'll wait on hold for at least 10 minutes and then get a lethargic person.

Description of Work: I have had ADT security for 10 years. I called them to change my service to wireless. Since then it has been a nightmare. I ordered upgrades and then changed my mind and only wanted part of those upgrades and a lower monthly service contract. Don't ever ask them for customer service or try to change anything with them. Since then they have continued to not respond to phone calls and e-mails and continue to charge me based on the first contract that was cancelled and not on the new contract that was agreed to and signed by them and me. This is for service being provided in the Columbus Ohio area. The original salesman, Gary Stimmel, never got back to me after being told to contact me by ADT Customer service and after I e-mailed him. And the Residential Sales Manager for the Columbus, Ohio area, Jason Prescott, has repeatedly failed to respond to my e-mails and calls and get the billing problem corrected.....this has been going on for going on four months. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau as well. Don't go with ADT. As soon as I can cancel my service with them without a financial penalty, I plan to change to Front Point Security which is the highest rated Security Company in the United States.

Description of Work: had security system put in 2 year ago when it was broadview security,adt bought them out and since then service not as good.for the last 10 days at 3 am our alarm beeps a problem on there end,was told it would be fixed in 72 hours,well 10 days later,i'm stillhaving the problem.glad my contract is up end of year.

Description of Work: have had art only a short while as the took over brinks/broadview, called to have my service updated, made appointment by phone sales person never showed. I took of work early just for this. Time to dump adt , no call, no show! my service date is off by the fact are true.

+ -1 moreThis is the second house I have an ADT system installed on. The reason for me choosing ADT was primarily due to the features and equipment the system offers. I was very disapointed by the fact that the first time I used ADT, we were not trained properly on how to manually activate the fire alarm so when we had a fire on the house we pushed the fire button instead of pushing it and holding it for three seconds. The sad part is that even though the system included monitored smoke/heat sensors, the system did not report a fire to ADT, instead it reported equipment tampering as the smoke/heat detectors were melting with the fire. Pretty sad! I asked the company to refund me the $500.00 deductible of my insurance claim but they refused. Perhabs with the system working as advertised, the loss would have not been nearly as great.

+ -1 moreSpoke with the salesman, Cory, at a home and garden show. He explained their equipment and process of installation. When Cory came to the house he explained in complete detail how Brink's works, and how their equipment(which is always brand new, no refurbished equipment)would operate in our condo. The installer(Craig)were very courteous, professional, and upfront with all answers of our questions. Craig explained everything he was going to do, discuss options, explain how every aspect of the system worked. Very satisfied with both the sales aspects and the installation.

+ -1 moreI let Brinks know of my interest in their product on their web site, and a representative called me within a couple of days to schedule an appt. The representative came the following week and made a good presentation, stating pros and cons of the various feature options. Once I settled on the ones that would meet our needs, he scheduled the installation for the following week. It was a snowy day, and initially the representative called to say they might have to reschedule. He called a couple of hours later to see if they could still come since the roads had been cleared by that time. One installer came and was soon joined by another. It took about 5 hours to install everything, and they cleaned up the debris and put everything back. The only inconvenience was that I had to empty a closet so they could have access to the upper attic to install the upstairs fire/heat sensor, but it did force me to do some weeding out afterward! After two weeks of having the system in place, it has been easy to use. So far, so good!
Description of Work: We had Brinks install a new home security system to replace an existing one from another company. This included one control pad, two smoke/heat detectors, two key chain controls, a glass break detector, and three door alarms. We really liked some of the advanced features that had not been a part of our previous system.

+ -1 moreThe installation went as planned. The technician was prompt, professional, and considered all the approaches for wiring my windows and doors. He called in for backup support and together the technicians completed the work in 5 hours. They cleaned up after themselves and provided us detailed instructions. They even arranged for us to try the medical alert button so that my family member knew how it felt to push it. I am so pleased that I was able to contact this company, arrange for a sales call and complete my installation in less than one week. The Brink's sales person recognized my anxiety about my other security company and the challenge my work schedule presented for scheduling installation. I can return to work following my holiday vacation knowing my home and family are monitored.
Description of Work: I called Brinks on 12/22/08 to inquire about them taking over my home security monitoring. I was concerned that my current company was not monitoring my home as I never received a bill for my annual payment and an appointment I scheduled with them was missed without any phone calls. Brink's scheduled a sales call for noon on 12/30/08. The sales person was prompt and professional. He answered all my questions and found the best discount options. He recognized that I was concerned that although I had a security system, it was questionable if I was actually being monitored, thus he was able to work with my schedule and scheduled installation for 1/5/09. To my surprise later that afternoon, he called to inform me that an opening for installation on 12/31 was available and that a technician would be at my home at 8 am to install the new system.

There were problems with the camera installation and set-up, which was explained as camera installations on residential properties being a relatively new area for ADT. There was no one locally who could set the video system up on my AT&T DSL line causing a delay. I signed up for the service contract and needed service because my remote access stopped abruptly and also prevented me from accessing the Internet from my home. A technician was scheduled to come to my home within a 5 hour time frame. Since I, like most people, work during the day, I asked them to call me at work when they were on their way so I could meet them. I was informed that technicians don't have cell phones so they cannot call the customer. It's "company policy." Hire them if you know you'll never need service or have hours of free time to sit and wait. There is a "first call" option if you can be home in the morning.
Description of Work: Installed front and rear door alarms and 1 camera each in front and rear of house, with DVR that records for 30 days and live viewing with remote access. There are hard wired heat and smoke detectors and a carbon monoxide sensor. There is an additional monthly fee for monitoring the alarm system.

+ -1 moreThis was one of the worst experiences in our life in this house over the past 17 years. ADT refused to come out and fix the problem. They gave us an estimate of over 2 weeks. They did not return calls and their response time to alarms, although false, was grossly inadequate.
Description of Work: No work was performed. I fired ADT because they were completely unresponsive to our needs when we had a major problem with the smoke alarm that kept causing false alarms and causing firemen to appear at our door.

WE HAD A COUPLE PROBLEMS EARLY ON WITH THE SMOKE DETECTOR GOING OFF WHEN THERE WAS NO SMOKE. IT TURNED OUT THAT THE STEAM FROM THE SHOWER SETS IT OFF. WE'VE USED THE VENT WHEN SHOWERING TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE SMOKE DETECTOR IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIES THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THEY WERE HERE IN A MATTER OF MINUTES. WE ALSO SET OFF THE SECURITY ALARM BY MISTAKE EARLY ON AND RECEIVED CALLS FROM BRINKS VERY QUICKLY.
