+ -1 moreDescription of Work: During the wash cycle of my 9 year old washer the machine would stop & display a code for service repair. Upon checking with Angie's list I found that Fred's appliance repair had a very good rating so I called them. I talked to Fred's wife, Helen & she was very helpful. Although Fred was very busy with his work & could not answer my call for help for about a week, I decided to use him anyway because of his ratings on Angie's list. Fred arrived at my home on the day & time that we scheduled. He was very polite & professional. Fred took time to explain what the problem with my washer was because of the repair code it flashed. The problem was one of two things, ( I'm not a mechanic ) some kind of connectors need to be cleaned or the washer would need a completely new connection harness system which would coast about $400.00. I requested that Fred do the first thing I just listed, clean the connectors. After cleaning the connectors, I ran a load of cloths through the wash cycle with NO problems & I've had no problems since then. (Today is Feb. 11) While Fred was at my home , he also pointed out some other problems. My washer was not level on the floor & the drain tube was to far down inside the wall drain causing the rinse water not to fully drain. This problem allowed dirty rinse water to stay in the washer until the spin cycle got rid of it. Fred took time to level my washer & attach a plastic hose connection that held the drain tube up farther in the drain allowing ALL the rinse water to drain properly. I was very impressed with Fred knowledge about the washer. The jet dry in my dishwasher had been leaking out for some time. I asked Fred to look at it which he did without hesitation. Fred noticed the screw cap for the jet dry did not fit correctly & this was the problem. Fred took time to call several repair parts business until he found one that sold the exact cap. I obtained this cap several day's later & it solved the problem. THANK YOU FREDgreater than greater than greater than greater than I will use Fred for all my future repair problems. If you have any repair problems, don't hesitate to call Fred, you will not regret it........

+ -1 moreSpoke to the receptionist. Set a date and time to analyse the problem. Explain the difficulty. Located the problem (faulty valve). Find the replscement part. Install the replacement part. Chech to see that the dishwasher was working. Provided a check as payment in full.
Description of Work: Analysis of automatic dish washer malfunction. Subsequent identification of a faulty part. Search to find a replacemewnt part. Having found the necessary replcement part, Fred replaced this part and the dishwasher once again functioned well.

+ -1 moreI sent an email on Sunday about noon. By 15:00 I received a phone call that Fred had a call in the area that very day so we made the appointment for Fred to come the same day. Fred is very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. The whole service call took about 1 1/2 hours on a Sunday evening. Great experience. I hoped to be able to fix it myself but that didn't work out so Fred is the next best thing.
Description of Work: 14 year old Whirlpool dryer quit heating so Fred replaced a few parts and checked out the overall performance of the dryer. In addition I had him look over the matching washing machine. Fred discovered a few minor things wrong with the washer he fixed too. I am good for another 14 years.

+ -1 moreI went with Fred’s because they were the only company that could get there in the timeline that I needed. The price was great and they fixed it and it is working fine. He was willing to work with the fact that I needed it done quickly and the technician came out after hours to help us get things done but he didn’t charge extra. I believe it was the owner that came out. I have a two-year-old that helped him do his work and he was very nice with him. I've got his number in my phone for the next time I need him.
Description of Work: Fred’s Appliance Repair fixed a stove that went bad. We paid for a new igniter, the service call, and a new bulb for the oven.

+ -1 moreI found Fred's Appliance on Angies List after my dryer stopped working early Monday morning. I initially called two other places, neither of which could help me that week (Thanksgiving holiday). I spoke to Fred on the phone, had him listen to the problem over the phone, and was quoted a diagnostic price to come look at it. He also told me that, by what I described, the problem was more than likely the motor. He also said it could be something simple, like a sock falling down the vent, to the motor going out and needing replaced. He quoted me a price of what a replacement motor might cost should I need it. We set up a time for Wednesday to have it repaired. On Wednesday, he called 10 minutes early to let me know he was close and arrived earlier than expected. He went to work right away and found that the problem was a broken spring on the front of the motor. He said that the company does not sell that spring by itself and requires you to replace the entire motor. He then ran out to the van and produced a replacement spring off an old motor- saving me roughly $100. With the new spring in place the machine worked perfectly. He then pointed out that the belt, pullies, and tensioner were very worn, and recommended a maintenence kit. It was roughly $50, but I'm confindent now that the machine will last a few more years. He even gave me some tips on how to keep it maintained. The service I received far exceeded my expectations. I wish I could rate Fred higher than A. I've found a repairman for life!

+ -1 moreHis last name is Melin, and he is a gentleman. He is an independent repairman and is crackerjack. I find him to be very timely and truly professional. We can let him in our house and not guard our valuables. He is very good and he services appliances that we bought from a certain company several times. He has always done an excellent job. For our refrigerator there is absolutely no support provided for the repairman by the company, and the problems had proved to be a bit challenging for Fred Melin. He charged us for the initial call to look at the refrigerator. When he came out the second time he charged us for labor to replace the circuit board. Since then he hasn’t charged us a dime in spite of coming over and spending whatever time was necessary to figure out how to diagnose the problem. He actually went above and beyond for us.
Description of Work: We use Fred's Appliance Repair for any kind of repairs for our appliances. He has fixed our washer head, dryer, refrigerator, and has done other minor repairs for a very reasonable price.
