The overall job was done well but a couple months after the install the wind blew a section of siding off. The peice has been hanging off of the house since January. I took a closer look at the siding and it seems they cut it too short and it will not snap into place. I contacted the owner, Paul Perkins, about it in January. He assured me that someone would come out to replace the peice of siding that week, (first week of January). After nobody showed up I called Paul back, he said that they may not have made it out due to inclimate weather which I understood. He again assured me that someone would be out before the end of the week. Again nobody showed. I called a third time and Paul seemed frustrated. He explained that he was worked out of town in Wisconsin and he has a crew working this area in Illinois. He told me if they didn't come out to repair the siding that he would personally come down to fix it. I had to leave town and told my grandma to expect the siding workers to come by. I returned at the end of February and saw they siding was fixed, or so I thought. A week and a half ago the same piece blew down again and is hanging today. The crew had come out and stuck the same piece up and did not replace it. I called Paul but got no answer so I left a message explaining that the piece is hanging and was not replaced. Then next day I called again asking for a response, I had even texted him a picture of the siding. After the weekend I called last Monday and left another message, this time I was not very nice or passive as I had been. I explained that I wanted the siding fixed, that there is a 7 year warranty on it and it has been hanging off of the house for 2 months. On Wednesday after no response I called again, I left a message claiming that I will report him to the media and to the BBB. I told him that this is unacceptable and something this simple to fix should not go on for 2 months. As of 18MAR2013, it is sitll not fixed. I will update my review when it does get fixed. UPDATE: We have not recieved a call but a worker arrived 2 days after this posting. He stuck the hanging piece of siding back up and prepared to leave. I stopped him and told him it needed to be replaced because it doesnt fit properly. Also there was a small hole at the crease where the siding had bent and flapping in the wind for 2 months. I question the workers integrity by leaving something like that. I asked him to replace the piece and he agreed. He had to go to a supply store to get a piece of siding but he returned and cut the new piece to fit. So far it looks good and the siding is now fixed.

Im sorry for the delay. Did not respond to his calls Because i never delt with him and did not know who he was, delt with another family member and had know file on him or a contract.. Once that was resolved and reliezed who name the contract was under i then explained that we needed to wait for tempetures and weather to be more condusive for the vinyl siding..when the crew went out they had new pieces with them and were looking to see what was improperly installed with piece that was their so they could report back to me.. I never have the same crew that worked on project go on repairs this way i get oppinions and not an excuses.. Crews that have made repairs get paid from crew that made incorect instalation. I feel this is the best way to stay proffesinal.. We did and will take care of any and all problems that could arise...Also he didnt explaine that they had a winter storm with 55 mile an hr winds. Job was completed in Bellvelle ILL , this gentelman lives in indiana..

The work was done fast. The job took two days. They stripped the old shingles, felt, and decking and replaced the decking and felt on the main part of the house the first day. At the end of the day they cleaned up most of the mess before leaving. The second day they did the rest of the work. It looks great. Paul did come by two times the first day to check on his crew and make sure they had all they required. He came by two times the second day, once to check on the crew and talk with them, the second time to check the clean up and accept final payment. He may have come by more but I am normally a day sleeper but I saw him on those occasions. As mentioned above, I tried to get him to allow me to get the new synthetic shingle underlayment instead of felt (tar paper). When the materials arrived I saw tar paper and started a lot of calls to Paul. He did not return the call but did come to the my home to check on his crew. At that time I talked to him about the underlayment. He said that he could sell me the system and even quoted the price ($1.00 more than at Home Depot. I was about to drive and get it myself before he arrived.) but said the shingle manufacturers had not yet approved the product and it would void my warranty. I then asked for the heavy felt and he said that was only warranted for specific types of shingles. He said he would use the synthetic underlayment if I insisted but could not provide the warranties. He said he felt it was his job to help protect his customers and their warranty. I accepted his advice. Their final cleanup was complete. I have had a lot of contractors that did a poor job cleaning up after themselves. This crew did not. My only complaint at all was with problems contacting Paul Perkins. He is apparently very very busy and does not return phone calls until the end of the day. I think on every call, (requesting bid, telling he got bid, changes in contract, ...) he did contact me the same day but it was usually in the evening. Paul did submit the insurance paperwork immediately, providing me with a copy of the fax messages on successful transmission. I am not sure about do's and don'ts. I think for a do, do listen to him. He seems to be interested in giving an excellent service at a good price. For don'ts, don't expect to call his service and expect an immediate response.
Description of Work: I had my roof fixed. This included replacing all the plywood decking and bracing any trusses with damage to them. (I had squirrels in the attic area.). I was originally just doing this for normal house maintenance and upgrades (below), but after Paul inspected he said I had hail damage and should contact my insurance company. The insurance adjuster inspected and agreed saying I had $5371.90 in repairs needed. (Paul's estimate had been $5865.00 but he included complete replacing of the decking, which the insurance company did not think was needed.) After being told by the insurance company that I would receive insurance checks to cover $4371.90 in repairs, I met with Paul and added several upgrades. The normal shingles were replaced with architectural shingles (longer warranty and look great), an ice and water dam to prevent water at the edge getting under the shingles and onto the decking and I had them change my roof vent from a powered mushroom (ugly) vent system to a passive ridge vent system. I also thought we had agreed to synthetic felt instead of the tar paper (see below). The total cost with all my upgrades was $6677.00.

Although it was quite nerve-raking through the complete Procedure, the final results were very satisfactory and we were Quite pleased with the project.Jeff was here for the second inspection of the framing, but neither was here for the final Inspection, which was the best of all.
Description of Work: I initally contacted Pekins Quality Exteriors, (Paul Perkins) in April, 2012. Recieved an Undated Estimate which Paul brought to the house.During the long delay waiting to hear from him (Paul), I contacted another Contractor, who also provided an estimate for a roof which was extensively larger, ( 7' wide by 16' long) and was Approximately $2000.00 less expensive. When Paul Perkins, finally arrived with his printed estimate to build a 5' X 5', hip roof, according to cities codes and would be responsible for all city permits. Upon showing him the other estimate which had several other additional items which I did not wish to chance on, Perkins Quality Exteriors would call and say he would be RIGHT OVER to my house but wouldn;t show up for at least 1/2 hour to 45 min. Every time he complained about the "CITY OF MILWAUKEE" not accepting his application when he brought the original estimate he told me "Everything is now OK and we are ready to go. He also said he was going to send a corrected contract, which was never received. The end of June 2012 he came to the house with a Contractor and explained to him what had to be done.Jeff (Sub-Contractor) showed up Mon July 2, at about 10:00am in 8o% temp. He unloaded the materials required and began working.Later in the day the temp was in the 90's and he left about 2:30pm (4hrs). He returned Tues about the same time and left about the same time. (another 4hrs) Temps again in the 90's.off Wed the 4th and back Thur and Fri (again in the 90's). Inspector was to be here between 2:00pm & 2:30pm. I had notified Paul of the schedule and he said he would be here for it. Paul called and said he was running a LITTLE bit late but would be here, I attempted to call him about 3x's but he never answered, nor did he return the call. He finally showed up at about 4:00pm. Rafters needed hurricane straps as did the support posts. Inspection not passed. When Paul did finally arrive he took my copy of Report.Mon. July 9th, Jeff, Paul and Jeff's Son arrived and got to work. (Cooler Temps). Jeff finished the shingles, the framing, the railing while Paul worked on the facia, soffits and the Gutters. All worked till about 5:00pm.

The owner Paul came to do an estimate for my project on march 8th at the time we had agreed upon. Paul gave a very knowledgeable presentation of the work to be performed. His price was better than the other 3 estimates we had received and offered a very affordable life time warranty which others had not. My wife and i felt his knowledge and professionalism of roofing exceeded his competitors. We signed a contract with an agreed start date of march 14. The crew arrived at 7:30 on the 14th as agreed and began work, paul was on job at 9am and again at 3pm as the crews were finishing up. After a thorough clean up we inspected the roof. The following day the gutter crew arrived and installed our gutter system, paul supervised the gutter crew and after completion a full inspection was done. I was very satisfied with the job. The estimated amount was the same as the final bill. I would certainly use his services again.

He talked me into doing the job right before an impending snow storm telling me he could do the entire job in one day but he couldn't.He then had to tarp the roof and put my tv antenna back. The antenna was put back incorrectly and blew off during the storm and was damaged. After they finished the roof, they put the damaged antenna back and he promised to pay for a new one.He never paid for it. The antenna again blew off the roof (I found out they put it up with just roofing nails).I had it replaced and have tried to call him back but he doesn't return my calls.

He is correct storm came way before anyone excpected. We worked in horrible conditions and made sure his roof was water tight and i feel all my guys did a great job protecting themselves and the home. The roof DID not leak during or after the storm and till this day still no leaks . We installed the antenna temporarley so the customer would have it reinstalled like he stated on chimney not through a brand new roof. I Paul Perkins would be more than happy to pay for antenna

The company owner, Paul Perkins, provided two estimates on two dates about a week apart, one for replacing the roof shingles and another for some trim work. I had previous experience with Perkins when he replaced the roof on my detached garage about one year ago. I had learned about his company from my next door neighbor, who had Perkins do his house roof. After getting a total of four bids on the shingle work, I decided in favor of Perkins for the shingle replacement, but did not make any decision for the trim work. So this report is only for the shingle replacement. Paul Perkins arrived at my home at the appointed time so that I could sign the contract. He stated that the shingles and other supplies would arrive the next day, and the work crew would start the day after that. Both dates were met. The crew arrived and commenced work at 7:30 in the morning. Paul Perkins called me at work a couple hours later to advise that the old shingles were all off, and that he had just completed an inspection and found no problems with the roof's wood, so the new shingles were going on and should be done by mid-afternoon. I arrived home after dark, so I inspected the new roof the next day, and it looked like I expected it to be. Paul Perkins came by, as arranged, that morning to collect my payment. He had not required a down payment, so I wrote the check for the full amount. I pointed out a couple small defects in an aluminum drip shield, which was not included in the contract (in other words, it was not to be replaced as part of the job), but the damage had happened during the work. He promised to come back the next business day and repair the slightly bent parts of this metal work. Update 4/7/11: In actuality, it took about two weeks before Perkins made it back to complete this trim work, although he did call me to advise of the delay. The brand and type of shingles used was the type agreed on. Paul Perkins did get a village work permit and left it with me when he came for the payment. I have no complaints with his price or the work done. The four members of the work crew seemed decent and presented themselves well to me before starting the tear-off work. Update 4/7/11: The village inspector completed his work and pronounced the job as "being in substantial compliance with codes and ordinances to the best knowledge of the Building Department". In other words, no objections on their part. Perkins seems to me to be a company with prompt and timely service and a good reputation. They do the work themselves instead of subcontracting. The owner comes to the job sites personally. I gave the overall rating a B only because of the drip shield damage, since it should have been caught during Perkins' own inspection rather than being caught by me later on. As of 4/7/11 the roof has held up to two rain storms without noticeable issues, has passed its inspection, and all agree-upon work and follow-up has been completed. The Lien Waver paperwork has been received showing that 'there is nothing due or to become due to any person for material, labor or other work of any kind done..." (an important formality).

The owner, Mr. Paul Perkins, came to supply an estimate and was polite, punctual, and professional. He explained and provided samples of available materials to choose from. This estimate was our third to replace our 12 year old roof and gutters. His estimate to tear off and replace our roof with 30 year shingles and new gutters beat any previous estimates. Mr. Perkins informed us that his company does not use sub-contractors and did not require a deposit. We signed a proposal with Perkins Quality Exteriors, Inc. on 4-30-09. The roof was started and completed on May 5. From their early start that day, I requested extra care around my numerous foundation plants to avoid any overhead damage. The roof team covered all my trees, shrubs and plants with tarp around the perimeter of my home so nothing was damaged in the process. When the roof was complete that day, I was pleased with the clean-up of my yard. All debris was removed from the process, tarps were removed, and a magnetic roller was used to clean my lawn areas. The gutter replacement started on May 6, but due to rain, was completed on May 7, 2009. This crew was also punctual and professional and only took a few hours to complete on our two-story home. Mr. Paul Perkins stopped by the following day to ask if we were satisfied with the completed job.

We had C-Perkins Quality (now that's a good joke) Exteriors do our roof a few years ago. Paul Perkins, the owner of the company, was the individual that sold us his lies and subsequently showed us his lack of commitment to post-roofing problems. To make a very long story short, he reroofed our house for $5,000. He reused the original baby tins which were bent by then, didn't install enough ice and water shield, and did not install any gutter guards. As soon as the first heavy rain came along, our roof immediately started leaking. We filed a complaint with the State Licensing Department and we started legal action. The bottom line is we lost out on $5000 and we need to make repairs to our roof and internal ceilings which will easily cost us another $5000. Thank you Mr. Perkins and C-Perkins Exteriors for an expensive lesson; it was well learned.
