DO NOT GO TO THIS GUY!!! I went in to get my boat motor diagnosed, he told me that he would get it done within a couple days, ok fine not a big deal. I then had to call him up and find out what was going on a couple of days later, he told me they hadn't taken a look at it yet and they would get to it that day, ok fine, not a big deal. Brian Hesse, the "owner" (I use quotations because I can't think of an owner who conducts business as this guy does) calls me up and lets me know what is going on with the boat (I am pleased at this point and say thanks). He tells me that the parts and labor will cost around $300, I told him to let me think about it, and initially told him no thanks, however, I decided that I would go with the process anyway. He then told me that he ordered the parts and they should be in around a week. I called him up a week later and he told me that the parts hadn't come in and to check with him in a couple of days, ok, fine not a big deal. A couple days later I called him up, and he told me that the parts were in, but then he told we they weren't. I gave him a couple more days and I called him again!! Finally, the parts were there, I MEAN FOR REAL THIS TIME! He told me that he would get them put in right away.....NOT!!! I had to call him up a few days later to see what the deal was. He laughed when I asked him if they had put the parts in yet, he told me that they hadn't gotten around to it because they were so busy, and to give him another day or two, ok, fine, I am irritated, but ok with this. I call back a few days later and he tells me this..... WE AREN'T GOING TO BE ABLE TO PUT THOSE PARTS IN FOR YOU BECAUSE YOUR CARBURETORS NEED TO BE CLEANED, A $500 TO $600 JOB. Now I am p*****, I had just gotten the carburetors redone the year prior (this is not to say that he may have not have been right, I am merely saying that I only wanted the parts put in so my motor would run for me, and I could put some cleaner in there to clean the motor out, and he wouldn't even do that!!!! So I took the boat home and tried everything that I could to get the flywheel off to put the parts in myself, and I failed to do so. I put my differences aside and called up Brian to see how much it would cost to just get the flywheel off, he told me no less that $20, ok, fine, that is fine we can work with this, I dropped the boat back off to Brian and then waited for about three days, he told me they hadn't gotten around to it yet. I gave him a few more days, he told me they were busy and he would try and get to it within the next couple of days. I THEN ASKED HIM IF HE STILL HAD MY PHONE NUMBER AND HE TOLD ME YES. I was fuming at this point. I gave him a couple more days and called again, still nothing. So I waited, and waited, and waited, and waited for a call, and still nothing. I went to go pick my boat up today 11/19/2015, an entire few months after initial contact with Brian, the first thing I did when I got there was pull the cover off of the motor, guess what, HE NEVER EVEN TOUCHED THE MOTOR!!!! I just want to point out that this has nothing to do with personal feelings as I don't know Brian or any of his team members on a personal bases, THIS IS STRICTLY A BUSINESS RELATED REVIEW, and an important one to read too if you feel like taking your equipment to this place. Description of Work: HE WAS SUPPOSED TO PUT IN A NEW COIL PACK AND A SENSOR IN MY MOTOR, BUT DID NOT. i THEN TOLD HIM TO JUST TAKE THE FLYWHEEL OFF AFTER HE TRIED GETTING ME TO PAY FOR MORE THINGS THAT I DIDN'T NEED TO PAY FOR, HOWEVER, HE FAILED TO JUST TAKE THE FLYWHEEL OFF!

We are sorry you were not happy with the service that you expected. Normally we do the diagnostics and repair of any unit. We did install the coil and sensor as you instructed us to, but after that we could see clearly it was not going to run right with that done. I see in our records that you picked your boat up in mid September and paid the parts and labor for installation of the coil and sensor. We did not charge you to diagnose the carboration issues. We really didn't understand why you were pulling the fly wheel off, but we do process units in the order that they come in. So if it didn't get done right away it is because there were other people who had brought their units in before yours that needed to be done first. It helps to schedule an appointment ahead of time and that way it doesn't sit here longer than necessary. If I remember correctly this was an older unit and we didn't have the proper fly wheel puller to get it off. Last year we serviced well over 1000 units in our shop and to my knowledge, I have over a thousand happy customers. It is generally our policy not to do "partial repairs". It always works best for us to do the full diagnosis and repair. That way we can send it home with you in confidence that everything is running well. We have been in business for 12 years, and I promise you we do not lie to our customers, we don't do repairs that are not necessary and we do our very best to provide top quality service to you. You didn't say what you ever did to get it running properly so we are wondering how it ended up for you. I want to apologize for any miscommunication or misunderstandings. I am not sure about what you said that I laughed at you, as it is not my personality to make fun of people or make light of difficult situations. I try to put myself in your shoes and be as helpful as I can while respecting the time that was promised to other customers first. We always appreciate the opportunities we are given to earn your business. Unfortunately, people will always take the time to write about whey they see to be negative experience, yet rarely do people take the time to share the positive ones. In looking at your records I see you have been back to the store this spring and that we have been able to provide you with some things satisfactorily. Please feel free to give us a call in person to discuss any further issues that you have so we can work together in the future.

I took my boat to Sport Country to have it serviced before going on vacation in Kentucky and they did a great job. The only thing that they should have looked at that they didn't was my trolling motor. It did break down while on vacation and had fishing line in it but I did not specify that I wanted it looked at, just figured they would. Next time will specify. Over all, service was great! I will use them again.

I has been a pleasure to provide service and products to you and your family over the years. We just wanted to clarify one thing that we are not a Minnkota authorized service center. We are able to sell and install Minnkota trolling motors and check to make sure all of the installation and connections are good, but we are not allowed to do work on the motors themselves. The only service center that I know if in Wisconsin is Scheels. Even so, the electronics items like these are difficult to provide "preventative" maintenance as electronics items just go out suddenly without warning. If the small accessories for that unit such as remote, foot pedals etc go out we can certainly replace as they are not worth repairing. As I said, it has been a privilege to provide products and service to you over the years and we look forward to many more years of continuing that relationship.
