About us

We know how to treat our customers and ensure they enjoy the best experience possible. That's right, Aqua Fun's roots reach way back to 1955, when two professional carpenters, Jim Behlman and Bill Reiss, whose partnership specialized in home building, built the first "Home Show" home at the Old Milwaukee Arena. In those days, the home was given away to a lucky winner, and after the show, it was dismantled and re-erected on their lot. In 1963, carpenter contract work got very competitive, and not very profitable, so Jim and Bill decided to apply their construction skills to a relatively new product - the Inground Swimming Pool. Their earliest pools were, believe it or not, constructed with wood walls! Then came Spartan galvanized steel walls, then Fox pools. In 1967, after several years of doing a blend of pool building and carpenter contract work - including complete indoor pool rooms, they decided to devote all their energy to pool building. They changed the name of their business to Aqua Fun Pools. Service had always been a large component of their business as Carpenters, and that tradition continued in the Pool building business. Fence contracting was added to the business 1976. In 1981, Aqua Fun began its first full service retail operation where it stands today, in Sussex. The showroom features 10-14 hot tubs on display, chemicals and supplies for Pools and Spas, and Above Ground Pools displayed outdoors. Located on what many remember as State Hwy 164, the road has recently been re-designated as Hwy 74. It has always been known as Waukesha Ave to the Post Office. Also in 1981, Aqua Fun was the First to display a hot tub - or spa - at the Home Show at State Fair Park. Most people asked: " ...how can I fit this into my bathroom?! " We've come a long way since then! In August, 1983 the building was struck by lightning and completely destroyed by fire. By June of 1984, a new, larger Showroom was complete and we were back in business. Jim Coughlin bought out Jim Behlman in 1985 to become the full owner of Aqua Fun Pools, Inc. In 1993 Aqua Fun Pools was recognized as one of Aqua 100. One of our sales men thought it would be a wonderful idea for us to sell above ground pools. So in 1998 Aqua Fun sold their first above ground pool. May, 2000, marked the opening of a second retail outlet in the Big Bend/Vernon area at the Southern end of Waukesha County. Located on National Ave. and Enterprise Dr., this store offers a closer option for those in the Southern 1/2 of the County. In 2002, an outdoor above ground display area was constructed at the Sussex Store. This display included two above ground pools, one soft sided and one metal sided. Along with one of our Vita Spa. Aqua Fun Pools was honored to take part in “Joshua’s Wish” with our Marquis Spa Manufacture and Make-A-Wish in 2002. Joshua received a Marquis Wish Spa donated by Marquis and Aqua Fun Pools Provided the Labor to get the spa to Joshua’s home. In 2003, Vita Spa presented Aqua Fun Pools with the “Dealer of the Year” award out of 250 Dealers nationwide. Aqua Fun Pools teamed up with Make-A-Wish again in 2010 to help grant “Taylor’s Wish”. Taylor wanted to have a pool. So Aqua Fun worked with Make-A-Wish to help get Taylor and above ground pool. In 2010 Aqua Fun Pools also teamed up with the Special Olympics of Wisconsin. They purchased, at a discount, an 18x30 Soft Sided Pool and Ladder for their Whitewater Polar Plunge. Aqua Fun set up and took down pool for the event with some local volunteers. We have done it ever since. Special Olympics asked Aqua Fun Pools, in 2012, to participate in the Kenosha Polar Plunge as well, since the pool is used there to now. Over the years, Aqua Fun has maintained a high level of service to our customers. A full time, year 'round, Service Dept. is actively managed to provide repair and maintenance for all brands of Pool and Spa/Hot Tub products. Aqua Fun features Sentry Inground Pools, Sentry RiverPool®, Vita Spas, Chois and Atlantic Above Ground Pools, and full line of accessories, supplies, and chemicals. Pool Opening and closing, repair, Hot Tub/Spa opening, closing, repair, installation and removal, and New Pool and Fence Design and Construction are all included in our services. Design Consultation and Customer Education are the hallmarks of Aqua Fun's approach to marketing. Just moved into the house and the hot tub was not working. I called them because they had serviced the hot tub before. Did not look at reviews, and I should have. The top side (control panel) was broken. They convinced me to buy a whole new circuit board and heater and top side since mine was discontinued. Said that it cost $450 for a top side, and $600 for control panel and new top side. When I looked on Ebay, I found the top side for $210. ... could have done it myself. Then, they charged my credit card before install when they ordered parts, and did not warn me of that. The man that took calls was rude and not helpful. Would tell me he would call me back and wouldn't call for days. From time of order to install, it was about 8 weeks ... Positives were the installation man was very nice and did a very professional job.
Description of Work: Replace top side of hot tub, ended up needing to replace the heater and control panel too

Was not familiar with problem we ultimately had diagnosed. Salesperson was friendly and sold us chemicals that didn't help. Waste of time.
Description of Work: Had problems with pool chemistry. Did not do water analysis.

We bought out hot tub there and they have been extremely kind and questions that we've had about it, giving us the best equipment to use with it. They will even call out a reminder when it's about time to generally replace filters and stuff. It's a smaller business so they are very nice. Their location is very convenient for us. When we go in it was very homey and friendly.
Description of Work: We use Aqua Pools for our hot tub. The last time was in November when we bought supplies to drain our hot tub.
