Our home was built in the 1970’s with straight plumbing...no shut off valves. The shower started to leak and the only way my husband could see to repair it was to Putnam in a shut off valve. This contractor was hired for thst service and while in our home, my husband wanted additional shut off valves by the laundry, kitchen sink, hot water heater, and two bathrooms. Maybe that is a lot but ithats what he wanted. So, this man looked at the project. No problem. Not hard at all. Mayb 4 or 5 hours. Waiting for a month for him to find time to do the work. That’s when the real fun started. Our plumbing was too close to the rafters and his tool won’t work. Had to buy a new tool. That didn’t work either. Acted like it was my fault. He broke a filter..had to fix it acted like that was my fault. Had to take several trips to Menards but didn’t charge for that. Just keep reading. This man continued to take personal calls all day. At one point I was standing next to him when he took a call from a family member yelling about personal drama. Pretty sure I paid for those calls. He came to my home at 8:00 am and did not leave until 10:45 pm. This easy project cost me $1,250. Now, I’m willing to pay when you are fair but seriously. . . My father-in-law was hanging around. At 4:30 this man had to run to Menards and he was almost done. At some point my father-in-law questioned the time he was spending. This unprofessional man lit into me when I arrived home at 8:00 pm. How dare they be questioned and we think you are milking us. Remember, this wasn’t a big deal job at all. 4-5 hours. Well, he admits his son says Jim was nice the other day but not now. I guess a customer doesn’t have the right to question the amount of time you are taking when paying by the hour. Let’s see...his tool wasn’t right for the job, that’s my fault. The replacement tool he bought didn’t work right either. That’s my fault. My rafter/plumbing was too close, that’s my fault even though you are the professional who looked at the job ahead of time. He broke a filter and had to replace it. After he left we had a leak but later discovered we really had two leaks. He wanted to review his charges on a note pad of scribbles in which I asked for an itemized bill. He was offended. He said he was gonna give me one but just wanted to go through those first. I highly doubt that was his plan. He had to go to the truck to get paper and he was already hungrey since he commented several times about it. When I handed him the check I said, “I don’t appreciate the way you spoke about my family” and he stormed off calling me crazy. I would love to stop payment on that check but I won’t. I will caution you to allow this u professional into your home. He does not deserve your business nor your hard earned money. I discussed this with other professionals and they just shake their heads knowing we were completely ripped off. I take this as a huge learning experience and the best I can do is forewarn everyone I can of this unprofessional business. It took 13 hours in my home. A lot of money and bashing my family and myself to get this done and it still leaks. Please find another plumber to do any work you may need.
