He walked the property, inside & out, took ample time to review the proposal & mailed the estimate later that day. I responded to the email & proposal with a few questions, clarifications as well as a request for the names of others in the area who have used this companies services. I did not hear back from Bob & found another service provider in the area to do the work.

 + -1 moreAlmost perfect. Their crew was amazing. Very hard workers. There was a small issue but Basement Specialists stood behind their work and the issue was resolved. That's really all you can expect. We shopped around and there are well known companies doing a similar type of work with a bigger price tag. I also like Basement Specialists contract and warranty better than the competition, because they promise to take responsibility for anything that could go wrong and they did. BE CAREFUL AND READ BEFORE YOU SIGN CONTRACTS FOR HOME REPAIR.
Description of Work: We had water leaking into our basement at the footings. Basement Specialists installed a system inside the basement walls whereby the water leaking in is directed into a sort of pipe pathway that ends at our sump pump. This is covered by concrete so their work cannot be seen. I guess this is referred to as water proofing. Our basement is now completely dry. What a relief! It was a bit of prep work for us moving everything away from the walls so the system could be installed, but well worth it as it is much less costly and less disruptive than having our yard torn up to get at the outside of the walls.

 + -1 moreFine, not much damage do lawn while work was being done. Followed up in a day to again answer questions (work crew came over to remove wall braces). Also call from company a day after make sure we were happy with job done and to answer any questions.
Description of Work: Basement wall repair (cracks enlarging, slight movement inward, dampness). One wall was excavated, back filled with stones and clay soil replaced. Other wall had cracks calked up.

 + -1 moreExcellent! From the start the salesman - Mr. Reber was spot on what to expect and no pressure. I received and email from the main office a week in advance on what to expect - workers to be professional, clean up, etc. The workers protected the landscaping, basement, very friendly, keeping us up to date with their work. Very efficient, very professional, excellent quality (they double check to make sure the building inspector had stopped by after their work). I would definitely use them again!!! Great value for the cost $5600

 + -1 moreInitial start delayed on first day due to weather. They were able to deliver the steel beams for the inside repair of bowing basement walls, and cut the cement on the driveway side. Showed up the next day on time, got right to work. The crew were very hard working, and professional but friendly with us. Explained to my husband what and why they did certain things. They didn't mind answering all of the questions, in fact were very open to explaining the process and why they did it. Cleaned up worksite each day after they were done, as in sweeping neighbor's driveway of any debris from their excavating . The salesman/office manager stopped by several times to see how work was progressing. They told us it would take approx. 3 days to do, and they delivered on that promise, as the weather co-operated and we had no more rain after the first day. I would highly recommend this company to anyone needing basement or foundation repair work.

Description of Work: We recently bought a house and during the first big rainstorm discovered that we had a crack in our basement wall. After spending two days mopping up water we were able to get in touch with 2 different companies. The first company that came out was beyond rude... they tried to tell us that to repair the crack in the wall (which they didn't even bother to actually take a look at from the inside only the outside)was going to run us over 3000.00. | |Ray however came out, actually took the time to remove the wall panel (its a finished basement) look at the crack itself, pour water outside to see if there were any other leakages, and come in at ONLY 700.00 to repair the crack!! | |The guys that came were super sweet, professional and even helped to move the furniture that had been put in front of the wall (my parents had just moved in 3 days prior so things were a bit crazy). They cleaned up the entire (small) mess that had been made, made sure we understood what to do afterwards (ie, not touching the cement, or the wall patch until it was completely dry) and making sure that we were happy with the job before they even left. | |I would hands down recommend to ANYONE AND EVERYONE that Ray and his team are the BEST in the business. We plan on doing an egress window in the future and will not hesitate on who we will be going with. | |Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making such stressful time pain free and easy to handle.  + -1 moreDuring the initial visit by the sales representative, he provided options that other contractors I spoke with did not mention. Between not routing drain tile along the entire wall, nor putting in a drain basket for discharge, this still met my goals for protection from water coming in, yet this approach resulted in a lower quote. Between the sales representative's visit and the arrival of the crew performing the work, there was miscommunication between them about the scope of the job. One issue involved arriving without the appropriate equipment and another tool needed to be rented locally. Another issue was a deviation in where the drain tile would be run. I understand that deviations may occur, however had I been informed of the prefered route in advance, I could have done more to prepare prior for their arrival. As far as the quality of the work, most of it was good. However, they did a poor job of leveling the new concrete on the floor. In a number of areas, the level of the concrete was higher than the original floor. This resulted in making the remodeling effort more difficult when replacing sheetrock on the wall or tile on the bathroom floor. One of the reasons that I reduced the professionalism rating was due to the crew leaving the basement windows and garage door open on a mid winter evening without alerting me that they had left to take a break to eat.
Description of Work: Installed interior drain tile along a subset of the basement walls and a sump punp.

Description of Work: I had an egress window installed. The job only took 4 hours compared to competitive quotes of up to 1.5 days - granted my house was easier than most to access. I was very impressed with the way they dug the hole as I thought I was going to have have to redo a lot of the landscaping. At the end of the job the edging wasn't even disturbed. Overall, the window and the well look great.

Their solution was a substantial reduction (50%) from competitive offering based on the root cause of the problem instead of pushing the competitive solution which was over-kill. Reasonable accommodation of post- construction site restoration was reached considering further unrelated work completed after they were done. Extremely satisfied with work, timing and customer management.

 + -1 moreThe only issue was the weather, it had rained and was misting while they were doing the job, which made for a muddy area were they worked. This also tracked mud on the grass, and the rain made the ground softer than normal which caused the equipment tracks to be a little deeper than normal. They filled them in with dirt and made them as level as they could, and grass will have to be planted to get it back to were it was, but you have to expect some damage when you have equipment driving on your lawn. All there equipment had wide rubber tracks to limit he damage as much as possible, but the weather, wet ground, and this type of construction they did their best to keep the damage to a minimum. I also took advantage of the opportunity to have them take a couple of high spots in the yards landscaping were they were working to make sure water would not stand or be near the new egress. They were more than willing to help out, and did a nice job of leveling the ground. All in All in job was completed ahead of schedule by a couple of hours. (6 hours total) Excellent company
Description of Work: Called for an estimate to install an egress window. Salesman was very flexible on his appointment schedule, and was able to fit the appointment into my tight schedule and showed up on time. Surveyed the area the egress window was to be installed and was very knowledgeable about the codes, permits needed, approximate time to complete the project. We went outside to were the window would be installed and stated that I could or they would move the landscaping timbers and shrubs. I elected to move them. We then went through the sales brochure and was shown different models available, showed pictures of other windows that they had completed, from start to finish. He answered all my questions and we scheduled a date to get it done which was a little further out than I was expecting. I informed him that if he got a cancelations he could call and we would move the date up if possible, due to the fact it would be about a month before they could start. 4 days later they called and were able to move it up to the following week. They showed up on time, started construction by digging the dirt away from the foundation, cut the hole in the concrete, framed it, installed the window, placed the fiberglass well in, backed filled will crushed rock, filled in the top soil, and cleaned the area. They then picked up all the rock, dirt, and the concrete slab put it in there truck, swept the street and left the area as close to normal as possible. Salesman stopped by to see how the job was going, checked with me to see if I was satisfied at the progress and made sure that if their was any issues to let him know. Job complete ahead of schedule, on budget, and no issues of concern.

 + -1 moreI think they did a good job of fixing the seapage problem. There were disappointments in the area of professionalism, which I reported to one of the partners after the project was completed; the partner thanked me for my comments and indicated a willingness to improve their practices. Here is one example of the experience that was especially annoying. Nobody would be at home for a few hours, and before leaving, I checked with one of the partners to make sure that his crew would not need access to the house during that time. He said there was no need to get in the house. A few hours later I returned, and found one of the crew working with the sump pits in the basement. I thought I had locked the door, so I don't know how he got in. In any case, it was irritating to have a stranger being in our house unattended, and seeing how he had gotten dirt on the walls around several light switches in his effort to find the sump pits, and then seeing him actually using MY tools! This company can do a good job, but I recommend that customers watch them closely and keep asking questions. The partner I dealt with most was responsive and prompt, and I have the impression that he cares about providing good service.
Description of Work: Excavated areas in front and back of house. Replaced drain tile in those areas and added gravel, and placed barrier between gravel and foundation wall. Installed new connctions to sump pumps (2).
