Action Painting Services

In April, 2012 we had Action Painting Services give us a quote on the painting of the exterior of our home. After receiving the quote, my wife and I decided that we would like to have our trim painted a different color and verbally asked Ruben what it would cost to have it done. Ruben quoted us $200.00 for the additional trim. I then asked him to update his quote reflecting this increase in cost to which he agreed and said that he would send to us. Our home also needed to have the gutters replaced and my wife and I had decided to have the work completed in unison with the painting. Since we were trying to coordinate the painting with our gutter contractors schedule, we decided to postpone the painting in order to meet the schedule of the gutter contractor. When we postponed the date with Action Painting Services, June told my wife that they had already purchased the paint and wanted to be reimbursed for the cost in the inerim. We agreed and told June that we would do so but only under the condition that the paint be delivered to our home as well as an updated quote delivered to us in writing. June agreed and set an appointment for May 8, 2012, when Ruben would meet with me and deliver his updated quote and paint. In return, I would pay for the paint, at that time. Ruben never showed up for the appointment on that date. The following day, my wife discovered that the paint had been delivered and was sitting on our porch with a bill for $150.00 more than we were originally quoted. We were astonished. My wife immediately began sending emails to June asking for an explanation and asking for the updated written quote without receiving any kind of response. As the time approached to have the work completed on our home, we still had not recieved the updated quote from Action Painting Services. The date was rapidly approaching and due to June's inability to deliver an updated quote, I felt it in our best interest to cancel the paint job all together. I sent an email explaining my concerns and cancelled the date to have the work completed. It took June Contreras a total of 37 minutes to respond to my cancellation. Imagine my surprise after not having heard anything from them in response to my wife's attempts for over a month. In June's scathing return email she stated, "At this point we feel that it is best for you to find another contractor when you are ready to complete this project. The invoice at your home may be paid directly..." Eventually, we were successful in getting Action Painting Services to pick up the paint, however, they did so by arriving at our home with only a five minute notification via a quick email fired off by June to me. We eventually went with another contractor who did a fantastic job and who I would hire again. I will be placing another review about them upon completion of this review. However....this is not the end of the story, as far as Action Painting Services is concerned. It came to my attention, on August 17, 2012, that Ruben Contreras had a picture of our house, with the new paint on it, on his Facebook page claiming that the work had been done by his company. This is an absolute fabrication and I have sense called him and demaded that it be taken down. To intentionally mislead his customers into believing that he painted our house is insulting to us and fraud to his customers. I wasn't planning on placing any review on Angie's List about Action Painting Services. However, this blatant lie has forced me to do so.
