I'm a first-time homeowner, buying my 100-year-old home last year. The previous homeowner (a more experienced do-it-yourself kind of guy) highly recommended Kelly to me, and I can see why! In the last several months, I've called them out for service on the ancient boiler that came with the house, and consulted with them on a new boiler, which they installed about a month ago. A week ago, they also put installed two electric space heaters on an unheated enclosed porch, and did all the wiring for it. ALL of the Kelly employees who have worked on my home have been prompt, courteous, helpful, and patiently answered my many questions. They are also careful about covering carpets when they work, and cleaning up. The new boiler is running like a charm, and I've had no problems with the space heaters, either. Best of all, they have not only NOT tried to pressure me into buying expensive products I didn't ask for, but in assessing my porch's heating situation, they even gave honest advice recommending a lower-cost solution than what I was originally considering. As an obviously ignorant young homeowner, I am often afraid someone will take advantage of my inexperience... but I am confident I can trust these guys, and will call them again.
Description of Work: This review covers 3 service dates: in the end of summer, they came out on a service call to the 70+ year-old boiler in the house; about a month ago, they installed a new boiler (hot-water-heated home); and about a week ago, they installed 2 electric space heaters in an unheated enclosed porch on the house.

Annual furnace maintenance. "Found" a hose that was collapsed. They did not have a replacement hose, only a hose kit that cost $100. Later I found the applicable hose for less than $10. When technician left he took all the hoses that were not used. I called and said I paid for the hoses and wanted them back. He said I could pick up the hoses that were in the kit at their office. 4 days later, I went to office and no one knew anything about the the issue. They did not have the remaining hose kit from my service. They offered me a $60 refund. I accepted this offer. I also requested a refund of the sales tax I paid. Owner said he already paid sales tax on the parts and would not refund. (This is not correct. The customer pays sales tax on the sale. If there is a reduction in the sale, sales taxes should be reduced). Ultimately, the owner stated that the issue had taken too much of his time and he hung up the phone on me. Very unprofessional. I will never use this company again. I question whether there was ever a kinked hose to begin with and that the only option was to buy a hose kit for $100 when the only hose needed was only $10.

I was happy with the quality of work but had a little shock when I received the bill. I knew ahead of time there would be a $140 diagnosis charge but I did not expect $114 charge to replace a part that can't have cost more than $30 retail and 90% of time spent would've been on diagnosis. All in all, the technician was here not more than one hour. I asked how the charges were broken out on the contactor repair and was told it was a flat book rate which is why there was no breakout for labor and parts. Perhaps this is standard practice for HVAC but it doesn't provide a very above board understanding of costs. Perhaps it comes down to more of a trip charge that is built into the other costs and for this they do not break it out. I do credit them however that they responded very quickly on a hot friday afternoon. My air conditioning unit was tripping the breaker and they diagnosed and fixed it in under an hour.
Description of Work: Diagnosed air conditioner and replaced contactor part.

I met with several different sales reps from different companies in the area, I picked A rated businesses from Angies list and one contractor that a friend had used. Josh, the sales rep for Kellys was the youngest and by far the most knowledgeable person I met with and he also seemed genuinely interested in helping me. He was very professional and brought colored brochures of the product line. We talked about my options and he measures the spaces that would be used for installation. The following day I received 6 very detailed quotes with different options for me to pick from. Everything was spelled out from the products to be used, what was included, cost and warranty information. Some of the other reps I met with sent brief emails with basically a price. Josh also told me which brands to watch out for and I spent a great deal of time on the internet researching this information before I met with him and again after I had all my bids in. He did give me correct info and two of the bids I received were for product that did not have good track records. I decided to go with Kelly's based on the professional way that Josh dealt with me and because Mitsubishi is a leader in this industry and Kelly's as Diamond Dealers can offer a 10 year warranty on parts, none of the other companies could come close to that. ON the day of installation the technician, Derek, showed up right on time. He did a quick walk through to see where he would be working and then laid drop cloths throughout my home. He was very friendly and explained everything he was doing when d*** it. He was respectful of my home and I explained to him that I had 2 sick pets and he went out of his way to work around them and even gave me updates on my one cat when I was out of the room. I had arranged for a Condo Association board member to meet with him to discuss placement of the outside unit and he was respectful of him as well. He was here for two days and was a joy to have around and had a super sense of humor. When finished with the installation he was very conscientious and cleaned up the areas where there was a mess, he had to drill through my basement wall so there was lot of concrete dust and debris from that. He spent a good deal of time walking me thru how to use each unit and explained the symbols on the remote controls and showed me where to find the info I needed in the manuals. We also discussed maintenance and he showed me how to clean the filters and suggested I get my system serviced in about 2-3 years. I cannot begin to say how happy I am with the system overall, it works quickly to cool the areas that I want and makes virtually no noise. They told me it would be quiet but I never imagined it would be this quiet! I worked in Customer Service and management for many years and am very focused on that, Kelly's met my high standards for customer service and deserve an A++++++ rating. Anyone wanting a ductless mini split system would be a fool not to go with Kellys and Mitsubishi. Great company and great product!

Office staff were friendly and helpful. Service provider Mark arrived on time and was very kind and thorough. Following a brief power outage the AC unit would not restart even after resetting the breaker. Mark listened to my explanation of what I had experienced and the things I had tried doing to resolve the problem.
Description of Work: Mark did a thorough review of the equipment. He clearly explained the problem and what he did to resolve the situation. He also offered a recommendation in case the situation repeated itself in the future.

Hi [Member Name Removed], When our office personnel met with you, he gave you a verbal price of $400, you told him to go ahead w/ the work and contact your daughter in-law [Member Name Removed]?? He told you that it would be a few weeks before we could get there and would not be during the week of the 4th of July. Our office person thought this was worked out and thought you were a wonderful guy. We will try to contact you to discuss. Thanks!

Jeremy was great to work with and came out to do the inspection even though there was no guarantee that he would get the job. Our home inspector identified several electrical issues that needed to be addressed in the home that we intended to purchase. Jeremy came out and did the inspection and identified all that needed to be done. The inspector had indicated that perhaps aluminum wiring had been used, but Jeremy dispelled that worry plus looked over the other work that actually needed to be done. The seller was free to use another contractor to actually do the work, but eventually had Jeremy to do the work.

I contacted Kelly Heating and Electrical for an 'second opinion' for electrical upgrades in my home. Jeremy was my main point of contact throughout the process. He was thorough, knowledgeable, and informative; he was also friendly and professional. The estimate he created was quite reasonable; and when one portion of the work turned out to be more a little than he expected, he did not charge me extra. The project took a little longer than expected, but I was in no hurry and I understand that this happens in projects. Because weather turned out to be a factor, Jeremy took this into account and rearranged the order in which he performed the work to prevent delays. He had two additional electricians perform most of the work, but was present and maintained contact with me. The ONLY reason for a B in the professionalism category (really more of an A-) was due to my experiences when calling to the main Kelly phone number. The customer service representative on the other end of the phone was a bit abrupt and did not seem to want to help. I gather from her that the main phone number is primarily for the Heating/Plumbing side of the business -- but I had no way of knowing this. Overall this was a good experience, good work done at a reasonable price, and I would use them again.
Description of Work: Electrical upgrade to older home: replacing existing outlets with GFI or GFCI where appropriate wiring for and installing multiple additional outlets wiring for and installing outdoor porch light fixing an existing porch light wiring for and installing a bathroom fan Wiring for electrical to a freestanding garage (which included trenching from the home to the garage, running the electrical from the house to the garage, installing overhead lights and an outlet.)

The service was very professional and the staff was friendly and easy to speak to and answered all of our questions. All of this was done in one day and we are extremely happy with our purchase. Tim Addie was wonderful when he came out to tell us about our options. He explained everything and helped us choose based on what we wanted. He was not pushy (which was appreciated). He also explained all of the current rebates, which were then sent to us complete with instructions with our final bill. The office made it easy to get those rebates. We would definitely use Kelly again and are planning to have upgraded service and gas line run to our garage in the near future and we are planning for them to do the work.
Description of Work: Installed new A/C (our house did not have one previously) and a new furnace with humidifier. Also upgraded our service from 100 amp to 200 amp and moved the service from existing not-to-code space to a new space. Moved meter box and upgraded wiring to that as well.

The service person John arrived on time and I showed him the drawing of how I wanted the water treatment units installed. (I had prepurchased the appliances and chemical injector and some of the needed hardware ahead of time.) I explained that the appliances were all set up and programmed and I needed him to set up the one inch copper sweat fittings and modify the existing pipe to accommodate the new appliances. I explained that there had been a slow dripping leak near the union fitting by the pressure tank. John wasted no time getting set up and proceeded with the job. when the new pipe and connections where complete he addressed the union connection. He disassembled it and cleaned the mating surfaces and re-assembled it. I had mentioned the greenish-blue color left on the floor by the leak, an questioned the ajacent copper sweat fitting. Water pressure was applied to most of the new set up and everything appeared okay. John gathered his tools and prepared the bill. I was charged $25.00 trip charge, 4 hours labor, and $90.50 in misc. hardware. I then proceeded to do a required 2 hour backwash on the new iron filter and start the clean up of the work area. When the walls and floor where dried and vacuumed I noticed the union connection area still had a slow drip. The following morning a new wet spot appeared on the floor. It was coming from a connection where copper pipe is threaded to a pvc spin down filter. The spin down filter was in place before and John did not disconnect that connection, but did have to work ajacent to it when sweat fitting some new connections. I called the Kelly office the following day (Friday) and reported the leakes. She said she would advise John/his supervisor and some one would get back in touch. After waiting 12 days with no response I purchased the items I needed and repaired the leaks myself. I removed and re-sweated the elbow joint next to the union. I removed the spin down filter connection and found that excess heat had melted some of the teflon tape on the pvc threads. I know the leaks where not detectable to either of us on the first day when everything was wet in the work area, but I sure expected a better response from the company.
Description of Work: The service requested was to install a new iron filter and new replacement water softener and various hose bibs and a valve shutoff. Additionally there was a slow leak at a union connection that I wanted repaired.

Very well - plumber knew exactly what he was doing, was friendly and informative. Originally the plumber was scheduled for arrival at 10:30 a.m. but office called early that morning to say he was not feeling well but I would get a call from the plumber around NOON that day for potential install yet that day. Plumber called and set up time for that afternoon.

Incredibly good experience. Had to call for emergency weekend service. Answering service very friendly, efficient, helpful. Electirician called within 10 minutes, again very friendly. Said he would be here in 45 minutes (was actually a little over an hour, but he apologized for being late). Since the job didn't take very long and you have to pay a minimum, Derrick offered to check my HVAC or do any other small electrical things I might need done. I cannot say enough about how well this company responded or how Derrick handled the job. This was by far some of the best and friendliest service I have ever had. I highly recommend Kelly (and I very seldom rate anything this highly).

We first received a quote for the above work in 2010. When I contacted the company in March 2011, they updated our quote and scheduled the job for the first available day I had suggested, just 10 days or so out. When the workday arrived, the Electrical Manager came with his two electricians a couple minutes before the scheduled time, and explained the job to them. He asked if I had any questions, made sure I was comfortable with the work they were going to do, and left the men to work. The two electricians were very polite and pleasant, even conversed with my 3-year old son, who greeted them every time they walked through the living room. As soon as they could, they brought one live extension cord into our living room and plugged in the tv so my son could continue watching his cartoons while power was out to the rest of the house for several more hours. The work was done consistently, professionally, and in a timely manner. The men did a great job cleaning up after themselves, even going so far as to ask me for a mop to scrub the floor (after they had swept); I told them my other kids would be home soon bringing a mess with them, that wasn't necessary. They cleaned up the mess of wires at the breaker box, installed a new outlet for us between our washer and dryer (to eliminate the extension cord we had them plugged in with), which wasn't in our work order, and left everything neat and clean at the box. They removed only one ceiling tile, rather than a hole row of them as expected, and explained the work they'd done to me prior to leaving, asking me to call with any questions or concerns. I am very impressed with the professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness of the men I interacted with at Kelley, as well as being very happy with the work they did. I would definitely recommend their electrical work/team to anyone!
