+ -1 moreWe had their mowing service for 2 years. It went well until about 2-3 months ago. I think Russell has a new partner because the name changed to R&D Construction and Landscaping. I inquired about a couple of missed mowings, which can happen at end of season if mowing is not needed. Didn't return calls last 2-3 months. I don't have a final bill so if I am billed for these I may update this review. They did good work and I am happy to pay for mowings actually done. Russell used to come with his workers until recently, which is when the problems occured. I don't know why the sudden change in service, but they quit when I asked about the missed mowings, 3 in the past 2 months. The work was good, but communication was bad in the end.

+ 0 moreWe worked with Russell from beginning to end even though he had one of his crews do the actual work in our yard. Russell was AWESOME. His friendliness, honesty, punctuality, competitive quote (less than the other quote we'd received), and willingness to do whatever it took to make us happy with the retaining wall were all incredibly appreciated because this was an unexpected expense for us. Our wonderful neighbor agreed to pay for half of the job since the wall divides our properties, and Russell was willing to do two separate transactions after the job was done: half for us and half for our neighbor. Our neighbor wanted to use any intact railroad ties in his yard, so Russell's crew kindly set aside any reusable ones and hauled away the others. Even though the job took longer to do than anticipated and required quite a bit more pavers than quoted, Russell assured us in the beginning that anything above the quote would be covered by the company. He guarantees his quote no matter what, and he made good on that promise. Also, he guarantees his work no matter what, so if something were to happen with this wall, he would return and address it free of charge. If we ever need any further landscaping done in our yard, there is no question we will call Russell again. We couldn't be happier with the process and end result!
Description of Work: Our 80 foot-long retaining wall made from railroad ties began to deteriorate and fall down, so the entire length needed to be replaced with pavers. We also needed a small section of our concrete patio area cut to accommodate for the backward angle in which the pavers needed to be directed in order to hold in our neighbor's dirt from falling into our yard. We also had an existing privacy fence on top of the retaining wall, so our hope was to keep the fence upright and preserved and just get the retaining wall replaced so we didn't have the added expense of a fence, too.

+ 2 moreRussell is great to work with. Each job was done on time and within the budget we agreed to. Russell and his guys were punctual, did the job well, and left the place looking great. I also buy the landscaping materials used in the projects through him and have been happy with the materials and prices.
Description of Work: I've hired R&S three times now and have been happy with each experience. I had a huge pile of broken limbs and other stuff from around the property that Russell and his guys hauled away. I had some out of control willows that they pruned and then whacked down all the weeds around the trees and all the waste was hauled away. Russell rototilled and prepped an acre for re-seeding. I had him bring in and spread gravel for my driveway and parking area. Spring 2017, he rototilled and prepped my smaller backyard, then installed sod.

+ -1 moreExtremely pleased. Very professional and punctual. I received far better service than I expected. Estimate was accurate and actually came in a little lower! I liked the fact that pricing was by the load and not by the hour. For the estimate, they brought by the trailer they used for hauling so I could have a good understanding of what I was paying for. They even sorted the items according the requirements of the landfill facility (relieving me of that chore). Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Father passed away and needed to haul large quantity of farm/shop junk to the dump. About 1/2 was in piles I created. Most of the remainder was in a small barn. The rest was somewhat scattered outside in small groups.

Russell and his crew were courteous, punctual and did exactly what was promised. I recommend them for any landscape work or cleanup you need done and I plan on using them again in the future. They were pleasant and professional.
Description of Work: Built a 110 foot block retaining wall 3 feet high, cleared landscape on the hill behind the wall and covered with decorative rock. Also cleared bark from 2 other large areas and landscaped with the same rock. Worked around existing irrigation lines without damaging them.

They did everything as agreed, we even had a walk through before and after the job. Their price was very reasonable, no hidden charges. Description of Work: I first want to apologize for the lateness of this review. I was in hospital and then my wife was hospitalized over the Christmas holiday. |My wife and I bought a house in 2010 on 32nd Ave near Nobhill Blvd and had a retaining wall made out of railroad ties that was tilting toward the sidewalk and also the 6 ft fence was falling over. We needed an area by the driveway 8x15 dug down 4 inches and replaced with gravel so it wasn't a muddy mess. Some other miscellaneous work had to be done including hauling away the railroad ties, garbage and yard waste. | The wall was 60 feet by 2 ½ feet tall and it needed to be replaced. Russ was very helpful in deciding what decorative bricks to use and also was clear what he and his crew were and were not able to do. He told me the wall would be no problem to take out by removing all the railroad ties and then digging back about 18 inches to prep for the base to set the bricks. |The fence was another matter though, He said building a cedar fence was out of his area but said he would help to tear it down. Russ and his fellow workers assisted me. I have replaced the fence myself. The Retaining wall came out fantastic and I am still getting compliments how it looks. I highly recommend Russ and his crew, they are trustworthy, punctual and considerate of you and your property. They are extremely professional and I highly recommend them. The price he quoted was accurate and the quality of the work exceeded any and all expectations we had. |Russ and his crew were very helpful in making sure I was informed of the schedule of the project. The first day they cleared out the railroad ties and started the base for brick. Second day they set brick and worked on the section by driveway. Third day was finishing up. He came out quickly and completed the job. He was super easy to work with and very punctual. He will do whatever is needed- a few small items or major landscaping needs. Super friendly, no pressure, just there to do whatever the customer requests. I will definitely use him again when I decide how to landscape my yard.

I have hired so many people through word of mouth or drive by signage on company vehicles and even craigslist and have wasted money or have been so dissatisfied with the outcome. Russell Roberts of RS Landscaping, has restored my faith that there are professionals who practice with integrity, honesty, and good customer service. There's not much more I can say except that he and is company is now my first choice for everything to do with landscaping and weed control. I sincerely hope his company grows to the point that everyone will see the quality of his workmanship so that other "professionals" will have a role model to aspire to. Description of Work: Installed: approximately 100 ft. of 1 level retaining wall, river rock, gravel to walk way, 170 ft. curved concrete edging around planting beds and lawn, adjusted sprinkler heads accordingly. Planted trees along 100 ft. of fence edge. Leveled area for dog house, installed sod and sprinklers for this area, applied weed fabric and weed sterilization to walkway and parking area. Fixed problems (many) that was left by previous landscaper.

Description of Work: Set an edge and installed 350 pavers. Cleaned out the flower beds, trimed shrubs and laid bark mulch. Mulched a large area in the yard that was a vegetable garden. Laid rock in area under the deck and extended rock up to pavers. Hauled away the waste.

+ 1 moreArrived on the date specified and arrived on time, 8:00 a.m. Worked hard in 90+ degree weather. The Junipers were in the backyard and space did not allow for heavy equipment as they had to be dug out by hand. Russell the owner gave me an estimate for a two day job. Another company gave me an estimate saying that it would take three full days amounting to $560 more. R & S took slightly less than two days and knocked $108 off the estimate. I was pleased with their work but mostly pleased with their integrity -- doing what they said they would do and even took less time and reflected it in the bill. The work crew were friendly and easy to talk with. I would definitely hire them in the future.
Description of Work: He gave a fair estimate, communicated well, proved himself trustworthy and reliable. The company removed 7 overgrown juniper bushes, removed two small trees, trimmed 30 bushes and trees, trimmed a stretch of junipers that extended 30 ft.

Russell arrived on time and their work was great. they flipped our mulch pile and hauled the ready mulch to our food garden dug out the sod around 4 trees and placed bark mulch which they delivered around each tree dead headed 6 large beds pulled up a large area of tomato plants cleaned up leaves
Description of Work: we have a large area that is landscaped and need help with general fall clean up leaves, dead heading, removing sod around trees and then mulching them also had them turn our mulch pile and haul the mulch that was ready to our food garden. they had a lot of work to do and finished up very nicely. Russell came out earlier to see what we wanted and gave us an estimate, we scheduled a date and he was on time which was wonderful! their work was great i would recommend them to anyone

When we said we'd like the work done prior to us leaving for vacation, even though he was busy, he rearranged his schedule and got the work completed. He did the work himself, was very thorough, and very efficient. And it was HOT out! All in all, our interaction with this company has been very positive. I would not hesitate to contact them again. I couldn't have been more pleased! And more importantly, my husband was thrilled!
