We were referred to Tom Buck Construction by our realtor after buying a home with 5 acres of overgrown jungle. Tom and his son Jason both met with us to discuss our goals; clearing, tree removal, landscaping, etc. Very impressed with this local family owned business and their history in the area. They are a little busy so we've had to wait, but Jason came out one day and we were amazed with his quality of work and professionalism. We will be using them more and look forward to working with them!

I hired Tom Buck Construction originally to help with a septic line. Before them, I had gone through 3 other excavators and had gotten gouged on price, was never told the real costs, and they merely smoothed over the dirt. Tom Buck’s reputation in our area was one reason why I knew we could trust in them to not only not gouge us, but to also make sure the job got done correctly, THE FIRST TIME. When things came up (more clay deposits that I expected) they quickly pointed it out, gave the pro’s and con’s of each option, offered their recommendation, yet allowed me to have the final say. They stayed until the job was done – not clocking out just because of the time of the day. Their humbleness and just very authentic approach puts you at ease and they forecast the expectations along the way. We had other trades who were on the project and even they were blown away with the accuracy, precision, and even daringness. They ran an irrigation line on a 45-degree hill and you could see a HUGE excavator acting as an extension of their own body. I asked them to uncover a septic line that I had replaced earlier. I wanted to put it even deeper and include a curtain drain. I had sprayed the septic line with orange/red marking tape to keep me from hitting it myself (as I did with bobcats I had rented). I watched him in one move peel back 2-3 feet of heavy mud/clay on top of the pipe, completely exposing the pipe – BUT WITHOUT EVEN SCRATCHING THE PAINT OFF OF THE TOP OF THE PIPE. The other tradesmen were just standing in awe as Tom got more done in an hour than I had gotten done in days of my own work. We had a neighborhood homeowners association barbeque a few weeks later and I was sharing about my experience and all of the other neighbors were raving about the work Tom Buck had done for them – from playgrounds, home-site preps, landscaping, cement work, retaining walls, etc. Yet, we had ALL gone with different excavators originally – and had awful experiences. We talked about Angies list and that we wish we would have known about the value and quality about Tom Buck Construction in the first place. That’s what’s prompted me to share my experience here. I’d personally guarantee their integrity and character…. If you want anyone who can move dirt or dig a hole, go with anyone. If you want someone who can see your vision of what needs to be done and transform it into reality with the same dedication as they would their own home, Tom Buck Construction is the ONLY choice. I originally thought that I could just rent equipment to don the job myself. I found that by hiring the RIGHT people with the right equipment could get the job in a fraction of the time and cost. They’ve got over 30 years of experience and it shows.
Description of Work: Tom Buck Construction build a BEAUTIFUL 30-foot high rock boulder retaining wall, installed our septic line, helped excavate and support the construction of a 20-foot high mechanically stabilized engineered wall, removed TONS of awful clay that had been leading to unwanted movement in my yard. Tom had also placed 2 water tanks, helped install curtain drains, French drains, excellent grading of 2 driveways, etc. I have 2 more projects coming up and I’m not even bothering to ask anyone else for a quote.
