STOUT ROOFING

Stout roofing was the most competitive bid we received. They were able to start the job within a week of receiving the go ahead. I was reviewing my old home improvement records and realized that Stout Roofing had installed my shake roof in 1990. So after using Angie's list and receiving bids, Stout was still the best deal 24 years later. Crew showed up on time and were amazingly fast. Two days, start to finish for my home. Jake Stout was always available by email or phone. Installation foreman, Marco was courteous and friendly. Don't hesitate to use these folks. They are specialists that know what they are doing and do it at a reasonable cost.

Working with Jake and his team was great. They were responsive and honest throughout the process and did a great job on the installation.

Jake come to our house and do an estimate and he finish the work 100% within budget and estimate. The roof plywood is buckled up and need some repair, also cracks near chimney area, fix the trim on one skylight and replace another one, total days taken is around 3, Jake's crew come to do the work, and I am very pleased with the final result. Jake is also very honest on his assessment, putting himself into your shoe (how rarely that happen now with all the demanding contracting work). Will use him again for any need on roofing.

The job began in good weather and then the weather deterioated into the worst weekend of weather we have had in years. High winds and pounding rain. Not what you want with your roof torn off and covered with plywood and tar paper. Very contientious, vigilent about the weather conditions. Came out on own initiative to make sure all was ok and holding up. Finished job was excellent. Overall a very good experience. I chose them partly because I thought they seemed to have a good team and I was not disappointed.

Responded quickly to request for an estimate for roof and gutter replacement (decided to not replace gutters at this time). Received the estimate for repairs within 24 hours. Once I contacted Jake with an acceptance of his estimate he set the time for work to be done two weeks down the road. I had indicated that a loose scheduling time period would work due to weather issues and work could be done such time as his workmen's schedule allowed. Most of the work was done the day before Thanksgiving with finish work a few hours on Thanksgiving (with my permission). The roofers were polite, efficient and worked quickly. They did a great clean-up job and my back patio area is cleaner than before they came. The roof is beautiful.

We chose Stout Roofing because of Jake's experience and knowledge which gave us complete confidence that he would do a great job for us. The price was also very competitive. The job went fast (3.5 days), and the roofers turned up on time and never stopped working.Every day they left the job site clean and tidy. We wouldn't hesitate to use Stout Roofing again, and will recommend them to friends.

The ratings for Stout Roofing would have been all A's in July when we had the roof replaced. Jake's attention to detail was evident during his walk around when he noticed that the bathroom fan had never been vented properly. His quote was prompt and complete. The project was scheduled without delay. The dumpster arrived one day, and the next morning the tear off began. By 5:00 pm that day the new roof was in place. The carpenter worked on the fascia that day and finished it the next day. We were left with just the right amount of materials to re-roof a backyard shed ourselves. Within minutes of the last work being done, the dumpster was removed. An adjustment to the direction of part of the ridge cap on the garage roof was quickly fixed a few days later. We agreed to call Jake after our house was painted to schedule installation of the new gutters. On August 21st two men showed up to install the new gutters. The most noticeable problem after they were done was that the holes for the downspouts were cut to align with the trim boards on the front of the house, but the actual downspouts were attached to the end walls, so the downspouts were angled to the end walls. After the first rain, we realized some water from the roof missed a gutter completely, some ran between a gutter and the fascia, and water pooled in most of the gutters. When this was brought to Jake's attention, he immediately contacted the gutter subcontractor who showed up the next morning on August 27. Craig promised to return within a couple of weeks to correct the problems. After several emails with Jake, Craig showed up on September 24th, replaced two gutters and adjusted the others. He promised to return to touch up the gutter that was made with marred aluminum. On October 14th we let Jake know that although the gutters were better, there is still one area where the water misses the gutter completely and runs down the front of the chimney. So far neither this nor the gutter paint touch up have been taken care of.

Well......just before I was due to leave on an overseas business trip.......a windstorm blew thru town and the old tree next to my house decided to use my house as its landing strip.......I called Stout Roofing because he did my next door neighbor's roof last summer and everything seemed to go OK with that project........I explained my tight timetable to Jake Stout and he came out the next day and gave me his bid and his assurance that he could get his crew on the job the following day....... Jake is a man of his word.....the next day it seem like my house was under attack.....dumpsters showed up.....materials were delivered.......a bunch of workers showed up........and things did not stop until the job got done.......I also liked the fact that Jake was on site to answer my questions about how things were being put together.....the roof looks great and it did not bust the bank .......and most importantly...... I got on my plane with one less thing to worry about.......

Excellent job. After contacting about 7 other companies, and after meeting with Jake Stout, it took no time to make a decision. Stouts Roofing did everything right, from keeping us informed, to the actual installation. They secured all the windows and plant material (we have a lot), the job went so smooth, absolutely no damage or mess whatsoever, and best of all, they cleaned up every day, and the final clean-up was superb. His crew was also so professional and pleasant and hard working. I absolutely recommend Stouts over and over.

(We had called a different roofing company and were sorry we wasted our time. I think the height of the house with the turret room made his knees turn to jelly because he never called with his bid. He could have at least have been man enough to decline bidding!) However, when Jake Stout arrived he impressed the heck out of us! Before we knew it Jake was on the roof and moving. When Jake returned to earth, he had a very detailed drawing of our rooflines (many peaks and crannies). We were totally blown away by the detail of his drawing! That's not the end, folks! While he was at these dizzying heights intricately mapping our roof, he also patched our leak! Now I ask you ... how many guys would do that? Jake was also prompt, courteous, and professional --- and his men followed suit. Stout Roofing's prices were fair and justified --- especially since our job included a detached garage and potting shed. I think it's fair to say that our job was interesting! Jake and his crew never let us down. When the time came for the "finishing touch," I asked Jake which of his men was crazy enough to put the weathervane on the peak of the turret. His response was a quiet "I can't ask any of them to do it ..." and up he went taking multiple ladders on multiple rooflines and ropes to rope himself from falling and to get him to the peak of the turret. I took pictures of his journey to the top and, of course, the placing of the weather vane! Yay! Good work, Jake Stout and crew! I won't be alive to re-roof again ... but if I were to, I would most definitely hire Jake's fine company again!

Jake had his crew arrive as planned and immediately began removing the old roof. New plywood, vapor barrier, flashing and shingle were installed in just 3 days. Cleanup was completed on the 4 day. We also had a solar tube installed which happened the following week (scheduling conflict). The only issue was that 3 sections of gutter were damaged, however, being true to his word he had them replaced. the end result is a home that went from looking a little tired to almost new, and a very happy customer.

From the initial visit for an estimate to the final walk-through we couldn't have asked for a more professional job. We are very happy with Stout Roofing and the roof replacement job they did for us. Jake Stout was always on top of communication with us so we never worried about what was going on. Marco and the on-site crew were fast, efficient, and took good care of our landscaping. The work was top notch and so was the experience. After having several bad experiences with roofing companies that quote an obscenely high price then keep discounting up to and including when you throw them out, we used Angie's list and are happy that we did.

I got 7 different bids on reroofing our house. Jake got back to me right away with his and it was more than $1500 lower than the closest competitor. His guys showed up when he said they would, did a great job and cleaned up afterwards. Very happy with the results and would recommend them.

I contacted a couple of roofing companies from Angie's list because I was concerned about an area around my chimney that I thought might need to be addressed. Another company had come out and suggested doing repairs for $695. Jake Stout came out and said that the area was a concern but since it had been like that for 23 plus years it could certainly wait until the roof has to be totally re-done in a few years. It took a number of phone calls to get Jake to come out so I would not call him at all responsive but I give him an A+ for honesty! I will defer the cost for a while.

It was excellent! There was a slight issue as they didn't show up on the correct day, but that was minor. Everyone was professional and nice, and they had excellent workmanship. The gentleman who trims my trees even commented on how well they did with the roof.

Great work, done extremely fast! All done in a single day.

The project was performed according to contract and the final cost was equal to amount bid. Jake Stout and his crew were very professional from start to finish. The 6-man crew completed the job in 2 days, and did a thorough cleanup. Everything went as expected (or better) with the only issue being with the delivery and pickup of the large trash dumpster. The truck leaked engine oil on my asphalt driveway, and the driver failed to completely protect the driveway from damage. (The damage was minor and Jake compensated me for having to cleanup the oil and live with the minor damage.) It was a pleasure to do business with Jake as he is a professional tradesman/businessman in every respect.

Going into this I was prepared for the best and the worst when picking a contractor to replace my roof. For some of the companies they would send out a sales person to try to convince me why their products were better then their competitors. So often it was more about suggesting how their competitors don't use quality products and their workmanship was lacking. Stout Roofing was more about helping me understand what all goes into roofing an house like mine and all my options and their benefits. After Stout understood what my expectations were for my roof replacement. We sat down and discussed which products would meet my needs and their costs. The estimates I got from other companies amounted to 10,000 to 15,000 dollars more then what Stout quoted me. A house down the street did have their roofer do a few extra work to a couple skylights but installed a much cheaper roof on a smaller roof and charged them much more then what I paid. The crew that was sent to my home was very dedicated and hard working. What impressed me was how well they worked together as a team. They all seemed to know their roles and what needed to be done. The reason I say this is we have had about a dozen homes reroofed on my street before I had mine done. On some of these other crews it was amazing in my opinion how unorganized some of them where and how long some of them took to complete the roofing.

Services provided at this time = estimate for new roof Would I use this provider in the future? = yes Quality = I don't know because the roof is not installed at this time; I have no way to judging the quality of work, the clean-up, the protection to my shrubs etc.. The new roof will be installed the week of July 22nd. Until installation, I am unable to provide any more details.

I thought that they did a good high quality job and they cleaned up after themselves. They did leave a minor oil spill on the sidewalk. Everything else was done very well. The product that they delivered was superior. I do not have anything to complain about. I thought that they did a very good job. What it cost was what they said it would. The price was competitive. They were very professional about it, which to me was a big plus. I will use them again; I do not think that we will need them again. We recommend them.

We decided to hold off until the Spring to replace our roof and after reviewing several bids we selected Stout Roofing to do the work. Contacted Jake, left him a voice message, which he returned in a timely manner and we asked him to provide an updated estimate, but made it clear we wanted him to do the work and wanted to get a date set to have the roof done this summer. He stated he would provide an updated estimate but wanted to meet with us to go over everything, etc. He gave me no indication that he didn't want the work. That was the end of it, no return calls, no revised estimate despite reminders, the last being on May 29th. We've never had this happen before.

Discouraging and disappointing to say the least.

Jake came by within a couple of days of my call to evaluate the scope of work. We had an estimate in email within one business day. The bid was very competitive and comprehensive, outlining every detail of the work to be done. I had a couple of questions about the bid and had responses the same evening. The crew arrived on the morning the work was to be done, got the ladders off the truck and went straight to work. No lingering. I came home late in the afternoon and the old roof was off, the skylights were out, the plywood was replaced and the roofing was 30% done. The crew stayed until around 7:30PM to finish the job and did beautiful work. The next day, another gentlemen arrived and explained that he wanted to replace one more of our pipe vents. He was very nice and came and went very quickly. Jake came by the next day, inspected the work and delivered the final invoice. He also delivered an unconditional lien release without being asked, which I thought was a great.

I selected Stout roofing after our roof developed a leak right at the end of the summer. They were really responsive and were able to get someone out to the house and put tarps on the leaking area before it rained. Jake was also really helpful when it came to choosing the appropriate roofing material. In addition he was able to replace the skylights and do some other minor fix-ups related to the roof and bring it completely up to code as the previous roofer had done an incredibly poor job. Stout roofing go it done right. The job was done in a few days before the winter set in and his crew cleaned up and did some general touch up work based on our inspection of the work. Overall we were very pleased with Stout Roofing

Stout Roofing provided the lowest estimate of the 3 companies I contacted. Jake was freindly and effifcient in our conversations and he did not try to up-sell or give too many options ( I was amazed at the hard sell by other companies). Take-off done on Thursday, roofing done on Friday, his polite and knowledgable crew performed all work stated in the bid then when I called on Friday to request an addition outbuilding estimate, Jake just had his crew do the work for little more than the cost of materials. I was impressed with the attention to detail and high quality materials used by Stout roofing. I would highly recommend Sout Roofing to anyone looking for fair price, good workmanship and a great clean-up job.
