had them come over to install countertops. instead of using a laser measuring tool, they used wood strips. well, i guess they did a bad job transferring measurements b/c they had to punch holes in my exterior wall drywall (which oh by the way is insulated) to get their stuff to fit. the rep, casey, said they'd fix it. but, that's not happening. he doesn't respond to my communication. other issues: - they set the countertop of my newly refinished oak floors and scratched them up. they admitted to it once i called them on it. no fix. - they left scuff marks from the installers boots. these marks do not come off. TIP: don't wear those shoes. - the biggest issue was drilling the holes for the plumbing and sink fixtures. i swear they don't know how to measure or don't understand clearance issues because the location they put the holes in for the faucet, soap dispenser, etc are garbage. it not only results in a sink that now too close to the wall (tight space for the faucet handles), but it was a paint to install everything from down below because the cabinet framing interferes with the hole locations. the sink EASILY could've been moved forward anothe rinch and the holes could've been drilled another 1/2" forward. 1.5" might not sound like much, but it is when you're trying to get your hand in to turn on your faucet. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED. CASEY, THE SALES REP, HAS STOPPED COMMUNICATING WITH ME. ALL OF THE ITEMS I HAVE POINTED OUT ARE CLEARLY ISSUES THAT COULD'VE BEEN AVOIDED IN THE FIRST PLACE. DO NOT USE!

We had gotten a bid using detailed construction drawings for the cost of white quartz counter tops, agreed on a price and then waited 3 weeks for them to template and then Daniel, the owner, said he didn't want to do the job because our counter tops were very white and the seam would show. I called the manufacturer and they said the seam is supposed to look like a hairline and not be noticeable. He said it would look dirty. I asked him for a sample and he just never showed up. We told them the stone that we wanted in the beginning. They set us back 2 months without a kitchen because we had to find a new fabricator and wait for them to template and fabricate the stone. This also messed up our subcontractors and cabinet maker. Their salesman Casey was very professional and why we chose them initially.
Description of Work: They agreed to template fabricate and install white quartz counters per our drawings, but backed out of the job mid way through.

Last year, we replaced an old wood fireplace with a gas insert and the hearth needed to be re-done. We wanted to have a quality stone hearth. For this size, it would be more cost effective if we bought a remnant and had it fabricated. For almost 1 year we have been searching for the right stone/tile combination and we had approached a number of stone suppliers as well as fabricators (some from Angie's list), unfortunately the prices quoted were very expensive. We found 5 Star Granite through Google and the owner - Daniel Luca - was very friendly and said he had some remnants at his Redmond site and we could go and check. We found this large piece of Calacatta marble that would be ideal but had some minor scratches. They sent a project manager (Casey) to give us a quote for the fabrication and installation of the marble. He gave us a very reasonable quote and also offered to do the tiling around the fireplace too. He gave us quotes that clearly showed the cost for each part of the work. For the time being we wanted to go with the hearth stone installation alone. At every stage of the process, we came across about 5 different people from 5 Star and everyone was very friendly, courteous and punctual. Daniel himself came to install the marble and when he was running a little late he called and texted me to make sure, it was ok. He turned up at the promised time and installed the hearth very quickly. To remove the minor scratches we had asked the stone to be honed. This had added up to the cost and we had agreed with the additional cost with the project manager. However, once installed, Daniel said that we only had to pay an additional $50 as he said it was done at same time with another larger work, so it was not much of an additional effort for him - a very pleasant surprise, which saved me over $100 on the initial cost estimate. We also needed a small offcut of the marble so that we could search for matching tiles. Daniel then sent someone to go and bring back a sample for us. They brought a nicely cut sample (about 12and quot; x 18and quot;!) and delivered to us within the hour - and with a smile. We've been doing a lot of renovations in our house and of all contractors used so far, this is one of the most friendly and honest and we will be using them again when we need any stone work. Highly recommended.

Great - Daniel and his crew are very detail oriented and did a great job. Met them at the granite supplier and laid out the countertops on the slabs we'd selected. They came out and removed existing concrete countertops (very heavy) and then templated the new ones. Fabrication was high quality and matched the templates exactly. There was considerable rodding required on one of the countertops, and this worked out fine. Their price was very competitive and the crew was very skilled, helpful, and fun to work with.
Description of Work: Built and delivered new granite countertops. Removed existing concrete countertops. Also finished granite for a bench and coffee table.
