Scott was good to work with. He is open to discussing all your ideas. At our first meeting he brought a book showcasing his work. Scott is good at helping you work within your budget. Once the work started, he was good at contacting you if he was going to late. The deck looks great and we get a lot of compliments on our new privacy fence. I would recommend Scott for your new deck.
Description of Work: Scott removed our old deck floor, railings and privacy fence and added new.

Scott (Big Bones) helped us in so many ways! He helped us figure out the look for our new deck (many decisions) with the albums of his past projects. We were getting new windows & having our house resided around the same time - so he was wonderful about making sure that the siding was set up for the deck - & that everything was done to code (things that we would never have thought of). Scott & Greg came out and did work before the siders started (deck demo) and prep work. Once the siders were done Scott & Greg got to work building the deck. Scott' built the most amazing framing underneath - heavy duty!! We chose Azek decking with camo fasteners and metal cattle fence/wood railing with an Azek board railing top. We found LED strip lights we wanted installed - Scott had not worked with this type of lighting before but he came up with a plan on how to install it and got to work, it did not scare him away despite it being a pain to work with. The finished product is stunning!! BIg Bones Construction was awesome to work with - we never felt the need to babysit them (like we did the siding company). They would show up when they said they were going to show up, get to work, and do the work to perfection. We could not be more pleased with the results.
Description of Work: Gave us a free estimate & design ideas, has several fabulous binders of previous projects. Removal & disposal of our large multi-level deck Replaced/Rebuilt all the bones of the deck All new deck top, railings, 2 gates & 2 Stairways, & marvelous lighting

We were impressed with the previous reviews of Scott's work and were NOT disappointed in the least! His work included constructing a 8x24 deck, running the decking at a 45 degree angle and picture framing the entire thing. There were 3 sets of stairs involved as well as cattle panel rail held in place with cedar. He incorporated the Bar grating we provided which was placed directly in front of the door into the house and allows debris to find it's way directly to the ground! We appreciated the professionalism of his "crew" , their dedication to the project AND the clean up!

Scott came through for us when our previously contractor canceled due to a family emergency. He responded quickly to our request and squeezed us into his schedule so our house painters could start work during the good weather. His work was outstanding and the crew was professional.
Description of Work: Replaced the main support beam on our 30 x 8 deck, reinforced the cross supports and shored up the deck railing.

Scott came out the same day I contacted him to give me an estimate, and due to my time constraints worked me into his very busy schedule. Job completed very quickly and professionally. Very pleased with the workmanship and the timely service. Very easy to work with and highly recommend Scott Taylor to anyone needing a new deck.

Scott built the deck exactly the way we asked and did a high quality job. His bid was the lowest of three. I will happy to use Scott again in the future.

When we bought our 50?s-era ranch in 2011, there was a ?raised bed? in the back that some bright spark had built right up against the house. Soil was literally piled up directly against the foundation and to the top of the first plank of cedar siding, for a 10-foot stretch. Flashing was installed over the cedar siding, but I had a good feeling that was there more for cosmetic/concealing purposes than waterproofing ones. After buying the house, we got the soil off the wall right away, but it was only recently that I got around to peeling the flashing back to see what lay beneath. It was not good. After pulling away what was left of the rotted siding, I found that the mud sill plate was rotted along the front. Rot also extended behind a concrete stairway that had also been built right up against the house, which was going to be hard to get behind. Visions of house jacks and concrete demolition popped into my head and I immediately knew I was out of my depth. A friend of ours recommended a contractor who turned out to be too busy to help, but they referred us to Scott at Big Bones. GREAT referral. Scott gave me a thorough assessment of the issues and outlined my options and potential approaches. The main job would be to support the floor joists from inside the house and replace the sill plate and rebuild the sheathing/siding. We also discussed options for the concrete staircase, settling on a plan to demolish the top step and replace with a nice, simple deck. I was not able to be present for the first day of the project, and as I headed home in the evening I started to freak out a bit ? someone just jacked up my house - what would I find when I got home? My fears were quickly assuaged as I inspected the work, though. Support structure in the crawlspace was carefully constructed, and rock-solid. Exterior work was buttoned up for the night with tar paper covering to keep out the moisture and critters. The workspace was clean and tidy. And Scott followed up that evening and at the end of most of the other work days with a call to update on progress (great follow-up should be the norm with every service provider, but it rarely is!) Scott was a pleasure to work with, delivered beyond my expectations and for less than I was expecting to spend. I would hire him again in a heartbeat and recommend him enthusiastically.

What turned out to be a supposed simple residing job, turned into a much larger scale deck issue. He was a miracle worker and not only repaired, but redesigned a large deck. We don't believe that anyone else could have done such an excellent job of problem solving and fixing this deck issue. He does excellent work and was a real life saver for us. We recommend him highly on every level - honest, hardworking, a true gentleman, and highly competent, very detailed, and very intelligent in his problem solving with this project. Complete trust in him and his work!
Description of Work: Scott fixed a previous deck builder's errors. He was a miracle worker with his problem solving abilities and his expertise. He is detailed in his work and was a life saver on our botched deck job. He replaced rotted siding, and basically rebuilt the entire deck, with improved drainage, and it was accomplished in a cost effective manner - and with excellence. Very impressed with his work. He is also a very kind, humble, and honest gentleman to work with - a man of integrity. Very high praise for his excellent work expertise; we are definitely referring him to our friends, with complete confidence!
