We took an expensive portable stereo system to their repair department because it had stopped working. It was only a few years old and not used much, so we figured it was cheaper to repair it than to replace it. We were charged $50 for the diagnostic (troubleshooting fee) and were told that if they couldn't repair the stereo, that they would apply that fee towards the purchase of a new stereo system. This concerned us a little because there certainly didn't seem to be any incentive for the repair technician to actually troubleshoot and repair the system...it would seem logical that the company would want to sell us a new stereo system instead. At the same time, we could appreciate the fact that the company would not want to pay a repair tech to diagnose a customer's equipment and tell them what the issue is with it, only to have the customer repair the equipment themselves or take it somewhere else to have it repaired at a lower price. Also, since we had purchased quite a few appliances and some furniture items from Sav-Mart (salesman Ray Paige was outstanding) over the past few years, and had no issues, we decided that we would give the repair department the benefit of the doubt. When we finally received a call from the repair tech a couple of weeks later, it was to tell us that the system could NOT be repaired. We were doubtful of this, so we picked up the stereo system and took it to another repair shop. The repair technician there promptly found the issue with the system and repaired it for $100 total (including an initial $50 diagnostic fee that was then applied towards the repair, so apparently that practice is standard). Unfortunately, this experience has left us feeling that we need to avoid Sav-Mart altogether in the future...which means we'll be buying appliances and furniture in the future from a different merchant. (Stereo system was purchased ~ 2009)
Description of Work: Their small-appliance repair shop was supposed to diagnose and repair our expensive portable stereo system. They charged us a $50 "diagnostic" fee in advance to troubleshoot the unit; they said that the fee would be applied towards any repair charges, or towards the purchase of a new system (in the event that the system was beyond repair). They allegedly performed some diagnostic tests and did some troubleshooting on the system before telling us that it was beyond repair.

The manager at Sav Mart doesn't provide the kind of service we expect, even accounting for the slack we cut them on the first failure, so we will not shop at Sav Mart again.
Description of Work: Purchased a Blomberg dishwasher, which has awesome potential being all stainless steel and a well laid out rack system, but the unit had a design problem with the power switch. The dishwasher gets so hot that the power switch melts and falls off inside the machine because its mounted on plastic. Sav Mart repaired twice in 4 months (of purchase) but wouldn't let us get another machine either time (shouldn't fail in the first few months and heard this was a problem with other customers in Wenatchee).

I purchased a washing machine from them and started having issues with it. I called them to send someone out to service it. The service man charged $75 just to diagnose the issue. Then he qouted me $261 to fix the issue. I looked up the part I needed and it only cost $16. I am disapointed that they would inflate the cost so much.
