Our experience with this business was most unpleasant. It is now more than two months after our stay and we have not yet received our deposit. She has been unresponsive to my requests, unresponsive to the Better Business Bureau and it was not until we contacted Washington State’s Consumer Protection Division that she offered any explanation. She is blaming us for breaking the garbage disposal, which didn’t work when we arrived and which we discussed that weekend when she stated that the renters the weekend before had most likely broken it along with causing other damages. We had originally planned on staying in October 2010, but asked in September if we could reschedule. She is retroactively claiming that this request to reschedule our weekend was a cancellation. We asked if it would be possible; she said yes. If she had any intention of treating that as a cancellation, then she needed to state that at the time of our request. She cannot agree to make a change, and then decide she can hold on to our deposit. Ms. Bush has spent two months developing an ever-changing story to explain why she has not refunded our deposit. I have all of our correspondence to back this up. I asked her at the end of April when I could expect my deposit. First, she didn’t know what the contract said, then she directed her assistant to take care of it, then the assistant couldn’t find any record of us, then the assistant claimed that our request to reschedule would be treated as a cancellation, and it was not until the end of June when she responded the Consumer Protection Division that she even mentioned the garbage disposal. If Ms. Bush believed that she had legitimate cause to withhold our deposit, then she had the responsibility to inform us of that before the two-week time period for the return of the deposit had elapsed. Ms. Bush filled her response with misrepresentations, including waiving a $200 rebooking fee that is no where to be found in any of our correspondence, a claim that I was rude and threatening to her assistant (apparently for emailing this sentence: “ We did NOT cancel our reservation.”), and that we did not contact her immediately when we discovered that the disposal was broken. My phone log shows the three unreturned phone calls I made to her the first day of our stay.
Description of Work: We went through this business to rent a weekend stay at All Seasons Five Star Retreat.
