Western Exterminator

Late in the summer of 2009 we were very frustrated with the ground squirrel activity at our home. The critters were destroying our flowers and plants, even eating the flowers in the deck pots. We wanted to locate a green company and were told about Alpha Ecological. They came for the first visit shortly after we requested their service and spent a lot of time explaining what they would be doing and how they would be doing it. We have used this service since that time and they have significantly reduced the ground squirrel activity, to the point that we are able to plant what and where we want. About a year ago I inadvertently let the cat out the same day the service man had come. The next day the cat was in distress and, upon the advice of our vet, we contacted Alpha Ecological as to what was contained in their mixture. I got an immediate response, first by phone and then by email which listed all ingredients, which I then forwarded to our vet. It was very reassuring to know they did indeed care about what was happening. Our cat is fine and I won't make that mistake again! We will continue to use this service and very much appreciate that they are a green company.

It went great, especially since they were able to complete the work the same day.

OK, but they seemed to rush jobs and be off to another

Many years ago I used a pest removal company in Lincoln City, OR for treatment of my home. It was aquired by Alpha Ecological. Since the service was good I assumed that they would be a good option for my home in Tigard when I started seeing carpenter ants. Over a year ago they came out, drilled holes in the walls and sprayed for the ants. Then they started a quarterly treatment program intended to keep the ants away. After the first treatment the house, actually had more ants and they came out to treat a second time. Every time they came it seemed they were here about 15-20 minutes. Following their visits the ants came out into the home in droves. Upon calling they assured me that when they treated it would stir up the nest and drive them away from the problem but that after 6-12 months we should see that the nest was gone. Well, in February they came and treated again. Ants are everywhere in my kitchen and even upstairs bathroom. I think paying and waiting for over a year for a solution is more than patient. When I called to cancel, the only response I got was "sorry to hear that". I am not sure whether they are sorry I they haven't solved the problem or that I am cancelling my service.

I had a reccomendation taht hey wer eusing no hazard. coma over and did the service. I still had the probmel. they said I needed to wait 30 days ot longer because takes a whiel for material to work. still having came abck. he told me to wair 3-4 months. still had problem the y said 90 days. They neever got rid of any ants.

We really appreciate the professionalism and friendliness of Alpha employees, the comfort that using them has brought to our home. I do not hesitate to recommend Alpha. We live in Kelso, WA, so please know that they cover a large territory, not just Vancouver, WA. They provide an appointment time to us automatically and it is no problem to change a date when I need to. Do not hesitate to call for an estimate and to have your questions answered!

We had never had this particular cleaning procedure done before since we've lived in our home of 17 years. I have had allergies for years and had been thinking about having it done, so we finally looked into the cost and procedures to get it done. I phoned around to a couple places, but found Proven Air-Alpha Ecological to be the most informative, to be reasonably priced compared to all the other companies with discounts, were very knowledgeable, and their customer service was great. The young man was on time for the job, he went through all the details as to what he'd be doing, showed me his progress along the way, was thorough in cleaning and then he finished up on time. No offense to the company, but I had expected our vents/air ducts to be dirtier than they were. Either way, they are now cleaned and to be honest with you, I have seen a difference in my dusting schedule. I don't feel I have to dust as often.

I have had no issues and my experience has been great. They are a great company and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for pest control.

They seem very responsive and they are concerned about what chemicals they use. I think they are doing a good job.

We answered an add in the beginning and we still find them to be very fair priced. We try to not use any toxic chemicals. We do not have to leave when they are here.

I think they are all competent and polite and I like that. I was concerned at one point since I was describing a particular ant and the program they had me on was for a certain ant and they were going to charge to come out but they did not since I said the plan was for ants. Make sure you know what pest your contract is for.

They have done a good job. I am able to let my dog out and not have to worry about the plants since they are not harmful with their treatments. They come do the work and they leave. They do call ahead to let me know they are coming.

They are very polite and knowledgeable. They are up front for what to do to keep things at bay.

They send a reminder when they are coming. If we do not want to do it that quarter, we do not have to which I like since we will not be charged. Most of the time I do not know they are there unless they leave an invioice. They seem to work since we do not see the ants and we have used them for about 4-5 years and they do a good job for us. The rest of our neighbors seem to have ant problems and we do not, so we know the service is working.

They let me know ahead of time when they are coming. I am totally satisfied and they do a good job. Whenever I have had a problem, they come out immediately to take care of it.

I think they did a good job and we have not seen the ants since they treated for them. We did have to fill the holes ourselves and they were very tiny holes.

They use a more natural method that reduces the chemicals and they are more ecological. They have good pricing. When we we looking to find a service, their prices were competitive. They will notify us when they are coming out for service and when they are here and I am they are friendly. They are fairly responsive when I have needed them to reschedule or come out for additional services. Most of the technicians have been around for a few years and they are experienced.

They have been pleasant. I assume they do a good job since the treatments are taking place outside. I have not seen any ants in the home so I assume it is working. About a year ago I asked them to spray underneath the bottom of the garage door through a crease in the concrete where there were ants and I have not seen them this year. They claim they are non toxic and safe for my cats.

They listen to you for one thing. There was one guy who I didn’t get along with, he was a bit lazy and always asking to use the bathroom. I talked to them and now have someone who is really great and I’m really happy again. They do a really great job, very thorough. Their chemicals are very safe which I really like, it was my prime concern. Their price is definitely competitive.

As many have discovered, there is debate about the utility of this HVAC cleaning proceedure. Even the Canadian government has said it's not necessary unless you have a unique problem. That written, we had it done (with their special coupon for a discount - a discount coupon that is almost always advertized). I've read that a TRUE cleaning takes hours. The operation was what some in the trade call a "blow and go" type. This means that they just run a whirling brush attached to a vacuum cleaner... and boy can they rush through. They did. I was a bit astonished that they did it all in maybe 45 minute. I wasn't impressed. The technician (a very nice fellow) ran his hose as far as it could reach, which surely wasn't as far as it really needed to go. The only attention to detail was in hand-vacuuming (with a shop-vac) a cold-air return box. After they left, I took a mirror (with flashlight) and inspected the work. The cold-air return wasn't very well done and one supply duct had a balled-up wire in it that meant they never went far at all. To their credit, though, I called them and explained it all... and they were right back to make good on those locations. Still, I'm not convinced that: a) this is necessary (and certainly not the so-called sanitation unless you've had rodents in your system), and b) that it does a heck of a lot when in this "blow and go" form.

We found a vent with dirt and rags left in it. It actually blew out in my face! I thought it was just closed, and when I went to open it blew in my face. The supervisor came out with the original technician and checked out the situation. The guys were OK to work with but just didn't do the job right.

They have been a great company to work with. They are very responsive and they have very good prices. They have been very good to me and gave me a discount for being a regular customer. They never try to sell me services I don't need.

The service tech arrived right on time. Wore booties in the house. Asked to see all vents. Returned with hose and brushes to clean each vent/duct. Placed a filter in each vent and cleaned the furnace. A new custom filter was mailed to us for the furnace.

The service man arrived on time, covered his shoes, listened attentively to us, was knowledgeable and answered any concerns we had very well. We then walked through the house, he let us know what he would do and then proceeded to take care of it all. He was fast and yet did a great job. We are in a new house and the venting system was cleaned by the builder before we moved in. However, we had a huge amt of dust accumulation throughout the house, which needed cleaning more than once a week. After Proven Air had been here, the difference is amazing. There is very little dust anywhere. The air feels different and the house is much cleaner. The serviceman was very courteous and working with the office has been great. We have used Proven Air before in our other home and were very happy then as well. We would not consider using another company and highly recommend them on all fronts. Great company and great people to deal with. Great customer satisfaction.

Technician called from two blocks away to ask for final directions. He arrived, put on booties before stepping into the house and asked me to show him all the registers. He then went out to the truck and returned with a large vacuum machine on wheels, which he put on a moving cloth he had put on the hardwood floor first. He went straight to work, telling me it would get noisy and then sent the hose down the air ducts one by one, cleaned the registers with some spray cleaner and inserts new filter screens into each register before putting it back. He ended by vacuuming out the return air duct in the ceiling and recommended that I continue using the micro-filter I was using, but change it there every three months as the package stated. He cleaned up his tools, asked to wash his hands in the stationary tub and left within about one hour.
