Description of Work: We use Alpha Ecological for pest control. For the last couple of years we have been battling ants. We started using them monthly and then we went to quarterly. Then we got an ant infestation again so we had them come back. I think they forgot to put the main ingredient in the stuff so nothing happened. The ants did not abate at all but we finally convinced them to come back. They said it would take a month or so to see them totally go away. They came back and retreated and the ants were totally gone the next day. That's why we think they forgot one of the ingredients.

+ -1 moreThey are very aware. The spray that they use is pet safe. Everything that they use is as natural as possible. They are consistent, conscientious and good. I think their price is a little high, but to get what I am getting I think it might be worth it. I don't know what the general price range is for this type of service that I receive.
Description of Work: I use Alpha Ecological for pest control. They come out quarterly and spray for spiders. I have a horrid spider problem. They have done a very good job at keeping the spiders away. They spray the foundation of the house. They have also noticed that I have field mice and have set up traps.

They are always friendly, helpful, professional and accommodating. They are happy to answer any of my questions. The people who are out in the field are responsive and take care of any additional things.

+ -1 moreThey had to return because they had missed a bait station. We have a contract with them to spray for pests on a quarterly basis. I also get bait stations from them. I've used them for years and they've only recently increased their prices, and not by much.
Description of Work: Alfa Ecological Pest Control did a perimeter spray of the house and garage, and restocked the bait stations with rodent poison.

Description of Work: Had them spray outside to treat for spiders. Waited a week or so and saw absolutely no improvement. That was bad enough and I resolved to try another company the next time. But, that's not what really upset me - it's their continuing marketing calls for follow-up services and other "pitches." I have begged them to take me off their call list and promised i would never do business with them again if I got one more call. That didn't phase them and they keep calling. I don't know where they got their business plan but this stinks. There must be a state or federal agency that handles complaints like mine. They're abusing the contact information I gave them when I signed up for service.

+ -1 moreSee above- FYI, they are the "Kings of Up-selling" Some of the services that they tried to sell me, (of course they were having a special and it was going to end soon.....) were highly over-priced when compared to similar services that I researched- BEWARE!!
Description of Work: I am planning on renting out my home, hence I finally decided to deal with the sugar ants that all Portlanders get every Spring. It wasn't ever really terrible, but I knew renters wouldn't put up with it, and I thought I'd get the benefit of it myself if I did it this Spring. Having done some research (pre-Angie's list member) it seemed like they were a good choice. WRONG. In essence, they started the end of March, I finally ended services with them yesterday as it's obvious the ants are still here. In the previous 10 years the ants were always limited to the bedroom and the bathroom- that's it- 10 years. When Alpha first came out, they put pink gel from a large syringe in the areas where I showed them the ants were coming from. The ants came in droves. I was told that this was good, as it meant they were taking the bait back to the nest(s)s, to give to the queen(s). I got that, understood. In fact, in the 10+ times that they've come to my home, I've gotten enough education on ants to have a Phd. At one point I called to say, "Hey I have a significant problem, you need to fix this now" and the customer service agent I dealt with argued with me as to how many times they had been there, (nice try Alpha, but I kept all of my receipts). When I made the "PLEASE don't talk to me about ant cycles I could have a Phd" remark, the genus on the phone had told the exterminator that I actually had a Phd in ants. The genus who came to see me was proud to tell me that he was the person they sent out to deal with "difficult clients". There is always a "reason" for the droves of ants (that had been found in my bedroom, my daughters bedroom, and all kinds of new and exciting places). When it's raining, it's because it's raining. When it's hot, it's because they're looking for water. Every time they came, it just got worse. I was told to cut off the branches over-hanging onto my roof- I did that ($350). Remove plants from around my home- did that. It was coming from my neighbors, I needed to call them and tell them to exterminate. The problem is no better now, (in fact I'd say worse) than when they started. They were punctual, I'll give them that. However waiting around for a 3 hour window time frame every time I need them to com? Not cool for single moms who have to go to work. With so many companies out there with better ratings why choose this one? However~ Thank you Alpha Ecological, if it weren't for your APPALLING job on my home, I never would've joined Angie's List:)

It is a plant base chemical and not a toxic chemical and that is something I liked. They met expectations thoroughly. They didn't disappoint or exceed but they did what I expected.

+ 0 moreThey arrived promptly. They gave me a price for de-contaminating the air in my crawl space, as it was breached through two of my vent screens by an animal(s). They set up rodent traps in three areas (two outside) one inside my garage. I was a little upset about the cost of replacing a couple of crawl space screens and reinforcing one, as it seemed over-priced, but I really didn't have a choice. It needed to be done. A neighbor had gotten a MUCH cheaper replacement cost for his screens, and since I had used Alpha in the past, I thought the cost a little excessive. Two replacements $200.00/ one reinforced $25.00. Perhaps they should re-consider their price for that if other services are performed at the same time. I'm updating my information, in response to the provider's response. I stand by feelings that the screen replacement cost was excessive having had other services performed at the same time.
Description of Work: I used Alpha Ecological Pest Control to replace some screens in my crawlspace where animals had pushed two screens and were living in my crawlspace over the winter. They sanitized the air down there, set up a couple of traps outside and one inside the garage.

+ -1 moreThis company was most courteous, professional and efficient from the minute I called to the end of the home service treatment. The gentleman that I spoke with on the phone was extremely knowledgeable and was able to schedule the service within 5 days of my call. When the service technician (Payton) arrived, he began with a thorough explanation of what he would be doing to erradicate our carpenter ants and the results that we could expect. He completed the job within 1 1/2 hours and asked if we would like to schedule regular maintenance - which we did. The cost was $418 - exactally as quoted on the phone. This is despite the fact that a few extra procedures were needed because we had a particularily bad infestation. The price also included $100 discount as quoted on the phone. Additionally, I received a follow up call today to make sure that my service was satisfactory. Thus far, I am very pleased with Alpha Ecological and would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Spray and bate to eliminate carpenter ant infestation.

+ -1 moreWe have a contract maintenance deal with them and they come out every three months to spray the perimeter of the house for carpenter ants. We've been pretty pleased with them. What we liked about them initially was again the fact that we have such a large area and a lot of wood around the house. We also have sugar ants on the interior of the house so it was ant control. For the most part it seems like there is somebody different every three months that comes out so I realize they are a large company. Some of the people are really good and kind of go above and beyond but some just do what they are supposed to do. Sometimes we don't even know that they've been here. I suppose the fact that we've had them for five years and we really don't see carpenter ants so that's why we keep them. I would recommend them. Initially their price was more because they did significantly more at the beginning. They are quite responsive because there have been times in the past that I have called and asked them to come out. They also call ahead of time when they are due to come in and send little reminders.
Description of Work: Alpha Egological Pest Control came out a month ago to spray the perimeter of the house for carpenter ants in the exterior and sugar ants in the interior of the house.

+ -1 moreThey were recommended to us. They are very, very friendly. They took the time to show me where the bugs and ants would be. They looked around all over the place and didn't mess anything. They took out some spiders and told me how to get rid of mosquitoes. They looked at places where there were ant colonies. There were not hurried and thoroughly went around the property. They were very courteous and explained everything. Their price was okay, but I would rather have it cheaper. I had compared it with some of the other places. They were very professional. They even put some things on their feet when they came inside the house. I would definitely recommend them. We have them booked for three months.

+ -1 moreIt cost $259 and that covers the first two initial visits. I used them in another home when I had a really bad spider problem and I wanted them to spray for ants in our new house. They were efficient, they explained everything, and they even went down into the crawlspace to be thorough. I selected them specifically because we have dogs, cats, and small children. I like that they don’t have a standard contract and you don’t have to call them again, but they are only $59 a month if you want them to come out every month. I have used other companies before and they were much more expensive.
