Description of Work: I bought the Big Deal on July 31 with the understanding from Angie's List rules that the company would contact me within two business days. When several days passed without word, I left a message for them in Angie's List message box. After several days with no response, I called the business and spoke with Ryan Brown's partner, who said Mr. Brown was on vacation until Monday 8/19 and that he would ask Mr. Brown to return my call that Monday or Tuesday. There was no call, so I phoned their office again on 8/23 and, this time, spoke with Mr. Brown. His confusing explanation for not responding at all was that he felt he had reason to be disillusioned by Angie's List and wasn't sure he wanted to continue working with them. I couldn't see how that would preclude his responding to my messages.

+ -1 moreI phoned Ryan, he answered immediately, made an appointment for the following morning, arrived ON TIME, looked at our current situation, we were able to keep our original door a solid wood raised panel door, which he said was in excellent condition. The spring, rollers and bearing kit needed replacement, as the original spring was not correct for the door. He also replaced the original door opener, which was ready to fail. We were able to schedule the repairs for the next morning, he arrived ON TIME. He replaced the worn parts and new opener, the difference is night and day. He also took care of another door in another building and adjusted the spring and replaced the weather strip seal along the bottom of the door. Thank you, Ryan.

+ -1 moreI called on Wednesday and set up a 10 o'clock appt for thursday he called at 9 asked if he could be early. That was great he came right over fixed the door in about 2 minutes. He explained why he couldn't install a handle on the door , where others had said sure no problem. I will use 3rd Generation again.

Ryan went above and beyond to ensure the the new openers worked with the remote in my husband's new vehicle, and he took extra time to ensure that the safety devices that reverse the direction of the door were installed correctly. That's important to us since our three cats seem to enjoy testing their nine lives when the doors are closing. We would not hesitate to call Ryan again - he was prompt, professional and clearly knowledgeable in all things pertaining to garage doors and openers.
Description of Work: We called Ryan and he came out the next day to look at our old, noisy garage door openers. He determined that our ~15 year old openers could not be repaired and gave us a bid on two new openers. Ryan came back the next day and installed two new Genie openers.

+ -1 moreThe garage door would not close. I called the next day at 7:00 am and left a message. Ryan called back at 7:30 and arrange to meet me at my house at 12:00 pm. He was waiting patiently for me when I arrived home. He immediately fixed the problem and then did some adjustments and repairs. He recommended replacing the rollers and explained the rationale. After the rollers were changed the difference in the function of the door was dramatic. I asked him to replace the keypad so he left to purchase the item. He returned and then programed and installed it. I asked about the other garage door about changing the rollers and he honestly said at this time it was not necessary. I appreciate his dedication and honesty to provide the best service. I highly recommend him.

+ -1 moreMy garage door started stopping several times on the way down in the past several days. I called Third Generation and on 6/6/11 and spoke to Ryan. He offered to fit me in the same day but I preferred to make the appointment for 6/8/11. Today, Ryan called ahead and asked if he could come 20 minutes early! That was fine. When he observed the operation of the door, he immediately and thoroughly looked for anything in the gears or tracks that was impeding the door. When nothing was found, he gave me the options of replacing the wheels (they were very worn after 11 years) or just adjusting the settings which would make the door work but would accelerate motor burn-out. I opted for new wheels and the door moved more quietly but still stopped repeatedly. Ryan was very patient with finding the issue including replaced/tighting the bolts securing the tracks on each side, straightening the tracks, etc. Finally, all of the work paid off and the door worked without stops and was quieter than ever! I would definitely recommend Ryan and Third Generation Overhead Door to anyone.
Description of Work: New gear wheels, tightening/replacement of bolts securing the tracks and straightening of the tracks along the sides of the garage door opening.

+ -1 moreOverall, from start to finish, I was totally impressed by Ryan's professional manner, promptness, and expertise. What could have been a bad experience, turned into a very good one. I made it to the airport on time, and a badly operating garage door was repaired.
Description of Work: There I was, just getting ready to go to the airport the next morning. I tried to open the garage door and it came half way up and stopped. I could see that the door was damaged and a roller was completely off the track. I tried calling two other door company's and they said that it would be at least two days before they could help me. My car is stuck in the garage, so I went to Angies List to find some help. I saw a recommendation for Third Generation Overhead Door, Inc. and called them. Ryan (the owner) answered, listened to my plea for help. Since it was 5:30 (yes he was still working), he said that he would come out the very next morning and at least help me get the car out of the garage. He showed up promptly at 8:00 am the next morning, as promised, evaluated the door and helped me get my car out of the garage. He then went to work on the door and found out that the door was "hot on the floor" (bad) and "dead on the head" (bad). Ryan discovered that during the original install, the wrong spring had been used. He immediately contacted the door manufacturer and they agreed to warranty the spring and gave us a new one. He went to get the spring while I left for the airport. He returned, installed the new spring, installed new rollers, that the door needed and it now works more quietly and efficiently than ever before. If your garage door needs service or repair, this is the company to use. I taped his business card to the door, so I will always know who to call. Thanks, Ryan.

+ -1 moreGarage door was stopping just short of the ground. He immediately noticed there was a very small stick in the track that was catching it. I felt like an idiot that I had never noticed it in all the months it hadn't closed properly. He was really nice, not only did he not charge me for coming out he went ahead and lubed the chain drive and checked that everything was in working order.

Needed new springs,replaced door rollers as old ones were worn and very noisy, Had both openers inspected and am very happy as this was the only company that came out on the same day. + -1 moreWe needed to get the garage door fixed right away beause our car was needed but "locked" inside garage. Ryan was able to squeeze us in at the end of the day. He kinldy called ahead to let us know he was on his way. He arrived and asked if we want both doors springs replaced (rather than just treating one). He did the work quickly and when testing it discovered our guide rollers were quite worn (20 years) and loose. That explained the grinding noises I always heard when the door was operated! So he asked if I wanted those replaced. I liked Ryan's professional aned courteous behavior and the fact he asked about additional service before starting the work. The price was quite resonable. Highly recommended for garage door repairs.
Description of Work: Our garage door wouldn't open because of a broken spring. These last about 10 years and we are starting our 20th in this house and had the rings replaced several years ago so I figured it was time anyway. So I scanned Angie's List for a local service and found Third Generation; I liked the family business idea for it continuity and I wanted my money to stay in my community.
