Just had our kitchen remodel completed by them and couldn’t be happier! Job was done in the estimated timeframe and on budget. Stan was great to work with. He made great recommendations when we were unsure or stuck on something, and kept us well informed on timing and any issues that came up every step of the way. He and everyone he brought in were very professional and worked hard to get the job done. We are already planning to have more work done by them in the near future. Highly recommend.

Stan was great to work, very accommodating to my requests. The job was quoted for 1-2 weeks but he was able to get it done in only 1. He went above and beyond by removing 3 large nails left in the wall by the previous owner, that I was going to have to leave there cause I didn't want to mess up the drywall to try and remove them. I came home from work and noticed the wall was like new. Very respectful of our home also. Wouldn't hesitate hiring him and his crew again. Great job guys!!

Stan and his crew are excellent. They are extremely hard workers -- showing up early, staying late -- and got our entire garage redone in only 2-3 weeks. They were communicative and the work they did really transformed our space. I would absolutely hire them again (and hope to on some future projects my wife and I are thinking about).

We hired Stan to do our kitchen remodel. I had 4 other contractors give me bids. Two would only give me a rough estimate unless I wanted to spend $5,000-$15,000 thousand for their designers. One other one gave me a loose bid but it wasn’t the contractor that came out it was a lady who worked for them. Stan was the last one to come out and honestly, I wasn’t expecting much after all the others. He was professional, prepared with questions that no one else asked like; what kind of counters with pamphlets to look at so he could give me a proper estimate and what kind of backsplash and cabinets I wanted. He took measurements, gave me some advice on things to do and not. By the time he left I was impressed and sold! I told my husband if he comes back and its compative then we found our guy. When His estimate came in it was broken down, easy to read and fair! He was hired! Stan did an outstanding job on the remodel. He was everything you want in a contractor-fair, hardworking, honest, punctual and kind. His work is beautiful and he is a bit of a perfectionist. One of the cabinets had apparently some chips at the very top (I couldn’t see it!) so he took it off and took it back to the cabinet makers to have them repaint it for us. He worked long hours to make sure it was done and right! Also having four littles at home, I was a bit nervous about having a bunch of guys coming in and out of my home. Everyone that Stan brought in my house were kind and respectful. So as my kids called him, Stan the Man is the only contractor I will ever use and we are already talking with him about finishing our loft space. Do yourself a favor and call him, you wont be sorry! His work will speak for itself!

We would highly recommend Superior Building Concepts for your next project. After many over priced quotes, underpriced quotes with a wink and a nod to do this small job without permit, or contractors that stopped by to provide a quote that we never heard from again we received a referral from Angie's list for Superior Building Construction. Stan came by, gave us a reasonable quote then followed up with a very professional and complete contract. We signed with Superior and were pleasantly surprised with the continued professionalism. We received compete drawings with architectural choices. After our selection, it was put through the permit process. At each point we received proper communication from Stan. Once construction began, Stan was there managing the subcontractors and working alongside. We were delighted with each subcontractor Stan brought on board. They were all punctual, courteous and cleaned up everything after their respective jobs were complete. With Covid supply shortages you can imagine some of the issues that arose, but with each roadblock Stan communicated with us and we worked out satisfactory work arounds. This remodel was a pleasant experience and Stan and his team made the difference. You can be confident in your project if you select Superior Building Concepts.

Dan is an EXCELLENT contractor. He is meticulous and performs quality work. He pays close attention to the work of professionals he uses as well as suggest idea’s which improve final product!

We struggled to find a contractor to take on this somewhat unique project. I guess because it is a "wine cellar" some folks probably saw dollar figures when quoting, so we got some pretty high estimates. It was sure refreshing when Stan's bid came in just about exactly where we expected it. From day one we were impressed. Stan listened to our requirements carefully and drew up a detailed bid for the project at a cost we felt was reasonable and fair. He started the project very promptly (very much appreciated), and worked diligently throughout, finishing everything up almost two weeks ahead of schedule! Amazing attention to detail, Stan took the extra steps we might not of thought of (such as protective covering over studs where electrical or plumbing was present, for example). Our one change order was handled quickly and effectively, and Stan was always on site personally (if not doing the work directly himself). This project also involved installation of a specialize wine cellar cooling unit (split system - think HVAC). These are complicated units, and I doubt very much he had any experience with them previously. He and his crew pulled it off perfectly. We were very impressed, and wouldn't hesitate to hire again. In our new house, there was a large (20ft by 25ft) bonus room that wasn't very useful. In early 2018, we wanted to convert it into a bedroom, a bathroom and a small study. We solicited quotes from three contractors, including Superior Building Concepts. When Stan arrived, he looked around, took some notes, asked a couple of questions, and left - the whole thing took 5-10min. We were wondering if he was really that interested in the project... but when the three quotes came in, his was in the middle, but was by far the most detailed, with everything broken up into line items. And, it was thought out better than the other two - in spite of him spending only 5-10min at the house. So, we signed up with Stan to get the work done. The work itself included framing for the new walls/doors, plumbing for the bathroom, installing tile, marble countertop, custom cabinetry, bathtub, new windows (for egress), insulation work, painting, new lighting etc. Multiple adjustments to the plan were made to accommodate our preferences - Stan was very flexible in changing the plan, gave us new adjusted quotes for everything. I've attached some pictures - two of them are of the original bonus room, and the rest are the bedroom/bathroom/study after the work was done. Overall, Stan's quiet competence, work ethic, honesty, flexibility and professionalism were incredible - this was the best contractor experience we've ever had. Since then, Stan has become our go-to general contractor for everything, and we've recommended him to family/friends ever since. (I'll write another review on the deck replacement Stan did.) We would recommend Stan for any contractor work without reservations.

This was our second go with Stan - in early 2018, his team converted our "bonus room" into a bedroom, bathroom and a study. We were so impressed by his work quality and responsiveness, that when we needed to replace a rotting wooden deck with a new Trex one, Stan was the first one we contacted. His visit for planning a deck install quote was like the previous visit - it took only 5-10min with general questions on what we'd like, and a detailed quote (with line items) came in an email. Price was very reasonable - not the cheapest, but very reasonable, and as we trust Stan, we hired him to do the deck as well. This work included demolition of the deck (Stan agreed to let us do part of the demo, and gave a discount on the quote for that), framing and installing the deck. After the initial deck frame, we realized we were a bit too greedy with the deck size.. it was too big! We asked Stan to adjust the size down a bit, and he did it quickly, with little extra cost (the effort needed for adjustment was compensated by the lower cost of Trex material for the now-smaller deck). The final deck size was 20ft by 24ft, using Trex Transcend (the highest-tier Trex composite decking) - the full deck work was $25,000 of the project total of $32,000. In addition to the new deck, we asked Stan to also extend the backyard fence around the deck, so we would have more yard space for our dog. Stan's quote included that one as well (for about $3,000). In addition, we asked Stan to install a barrel sauna (from Costco), as part of the larger project - this would include electrical hookup for the 8kW heater. Initial plan was to install it onto the deck, but Stan suggested a different location for better privacy and more deck space. As a result, his team built a small wooden platform next to the deck, and installed the sauna on it (this was $4,000, with us providing the barrel sauna). I've included pictures of the deck, the new larger fence and the sauna. As before, Superior Building Concepts work was impeccable, and they were flexible in timelines, preferences, changes etc. We've kept recommending him to others, and everyone has been happy with Stan's work. We'll definitely have him do more projects as well, I would highly recommend Superior Building Concepts for any contractor work.

In a single word - fantastic! We are totally pleased with how the kitchen renovation went. Stan and his team did a superb job. Everything was completed on schedule (4 weeks) with the highest level of quality and attention to detail. We had hired Superior Building Concepts to renovate our two upstairs bathrooms and were so pleased with the results that we decided to go ahead and have them do the kitchen as well. Stan handled every aspect of the project - all we had to do was go to his recommended suppliers and pick our choice of floor tile, granite for the counter-tops, back-splash tile, grout color, cabinet hardware, under-cabinet lighting and paint colors. Stan also arranged for design consultant Melody to come to discuss our new cabinets and take measurements. She then sent detailed wire-frame drawings for us to peruse before giving them the final go-ahead to build the cabinets. We picked our range, range hood, fridge, sink and faucet ourselves and Stan made sure installation of these items were done professionally, at the proper time and on schedule. In summary, Stan managed what was a very complex project to absolute perfection and the quality and attention to detail throughout the project was perfect in every way. We are completely overjoyed with our new kitchen and bathrooms and we highly recommend Stan to anyone wanting to tackle such projects with a high expectation for a superb outcome that occurs on schedule, incorporates exceptional quality, and is done at a fair price.

We received three quotes from providers here on Angie's List for the renovation/remodel of our master bathroom, main bathroom and kitchen. We decided to choose Superior Building Concepts based on the timeliness and detail of the quote we received for each of the three rooms and on the caliber of the reviews here on Angie's List. The project is now complete, and we can honestly say we made a very wise and sensible choice in going with Stan and Superior Building Concepts for our remodeling project. In fact, we were so impressed with Stan and his team that we've decided to go ahead and schedule them to start the total renovation of our kitchen. The original plan was to do just the master bathroom since we knew there was a leak somewhere under the floor with subsequent water damage permeating to the ceiling below in the garage. Stan professionally removed all items from the master bathroom including the damaged sub-floor and it was soon obvious that the damage had infiltrated into the back corner of the main bathroom as well. This opened up an opportunity to enlarge the tiny shower in the master bath by adjusting the design of the main bath, and so we decided to move forward with the complete remodel/renovation of both bathrooms. Since the cabinet in the master bath had water damage at its base, we also decided to use custom-built cabinets provided by a custom cabinet maker contracted through Superior Building Concepts. Stan did all the demolition and reconstruction work including removing a small privacy wall in the main bathroom and enlarging the master bath shower by moving an existing wall that formed one side of the master bath shower and the back of an alcove for the toilet in the main bath. He also tore out all the water damaged flooring and ceiling in the garage below. All damage was professionally repaired, then all new plumbing was installed by Stan's plumber to move the toilet in the main bath and re-position the shower drain in the master bath. In addition, new ceiling fans were installed and all the old venting was replaced and brought up to code in the attic. Once all the new plumbing and venting was complete - including new valves for the master bath shower and main bath tub/shower - Stan's electrician came in to install a new light fixture for the enlarged master bath shower and move the existing light fixture in the main bath alcove. This alcove was reduced to around a foot in depth to allow for the installation of a custom built-in with shelves and cabinets with the remaining two or so feet going towards the enlarged shower in the master bath. Everything was then tested for leaks prior to inspection and approval by the city for proper adherence to current code. Stan then installed all the new sub-floor and drywall - including down in the garage - to complete the redesign of both bathrooms. Plaster, texture and paint were then applied on the main walls in both bathrooms and on the ceiling in the garage, followed by installation of a new soaking tub in the main bath, the shower sub-floor in the master bath, and cement-board around the master bath shower and main bath tub enclosure. All the cement board and shower sub-floor were thoroughly moisture treated and fully tested for leaks, and everything was again checked and approved by the city inspector. Stan then brought in his tiling expert who installed porcelain mosaic floor tile in the master bath and marble mosaic floor tile in the main bath. Tiling then commenced in the master bath shower and around the tub enclosure including the addition of recessed shower niches and decorative mosaic strips in both bathrooms. Everything was then professionally grouted based on our choice of grout colors and materials. Then installation of the custom-built vanities, custom built-in cabinet in the main bath, light fixtures, toilets, marble counter-tops*, sinks, faucets, shower and bath fixtures and all other bath accessories. The last thing was cleaning and sealing all the tile, installing the shower door in the master bath and installing the custom built mirror in the main bath. All this work was perfectly managed by Stan - every step of the entire process occurred on schedule with the highest attention to detail and with an absolutely superb level of quality. The entire project was completed within six weeks and there were only two non-sequential work days when no work was being done. Stan also answered all our questions along the way, and provided us with superb feedback and sensible recommendations throughout the project. In summary, we could not be happier with the results. Stan has to be, without a doubt, one of the most professional, friendly, attentive and customer-oriented contractors currently operating in the greater Portland/Vancouver area. We simply cannot recommend him enough to folks looking for timely work undertaken with a superb attention to detail and quality at a fair and reasonable price. * We had already purchased the marble counter-tops from Quartz and Granite Countertops, Inc. out of Tigard, OR. TRULY EXCEPTIONAL, BEST CONTRACTOR I HAVE EVER HIRED, WOULD HIRE THEM AGAIN, AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY. Excellent quality! High level of professionalism! Great attention to details! Plus excellent responsiveness to my comments and concerns. Our project included adding a master suite and remodeling part of the house: removing internal walls (some were load barring walls), adding internal walls for closets, reconfiguring rooms, new office, new pantry, new laundry room, replacing all the trim in the house, and also painting almost all the house. We bought a 55 year old house and re-did a LOT of it to bring it up to code (including plumbing, electrical and insulation) and to make it more pretty also. They also handled our water problems in crawl space. They also fixed our HW floors. They were AMAZING!!!! I HIGHLY recommend Stan and his crew to all my friends now. I am a very "seasoned" home owner, and I am also super picky about my finishes, I want everything with excellent quality. Stan provides high quality. And his price was reasonable. I know, I spent a lot. But it was a huge project, I now have almost new home here. He is not the cheapest out there, but he is not the most expensive, and BY FAR. His prices are FAIR in my opinion and actually he is inexpensive once you consider the quality of the work. Also he came back for small issue we found (one sink leaked), so he is VERY TRUSTWORTHY. THAT IS RARE, very rare, in this business. He was with his crew several months inside my house and nothing was ever lost or touched. I trusted him and he only brings people he trsuts and he keeps an eye in everyone and he know everything that is going on. He is truly exceptional. My 55 Years old home looks brand new. This was a > than 3 months project and they had to work in my addition during the terrible winter rainy months of this year in Portland, which was indeed very very wet. They managed everything perfectly. Very professional, polite and very accommodating as well. I was very happy through the entire process and Stan is an extremely patient and calm individual, which was great for me and kept me calm most of the time. It was hard on us as we did the remodel while we lived in the house (to save money), so they were around us all the time and we were around them.... They did everything I asked for. The quality of the work is AWESOME. Stan is VERY DETAILED oriented and I had very few things at the time of completion in my punch list with him, because most things that I saw during the work he saw even before me and he was already addressing it and at the end mostly all little misses here and there were addressed. He goes over everything his crew does and he gets everything perfect. He has access to the material which has much better quality than regular home depot stuff (such as all the doors and windows and trim that he used where very nice and similar pricing to home depot, so I was quite happy). He did my walk in closet and if you go to get this done with some fancy company, you will definitely pay much more, and it looks really great. :) Highly recommended in my opinion.

Stan responded quickly to my inquiry, came out to the property to discuss what I wanted, prepared a bid and completed the job in two days. He cleaned up after the job was done.

The service was prompt, and the work was excellent. The price was the same as the estimate. Superior had previously built the deck in question last year and did a wonderful job at that time as well. The repair matched the original work perfectly.

Excellent work! Extreme diligence on impact to home, repaired even a hole where we had hung a picture and even touched up paint in areas not a result of the freeze/burst pipes. Sectioned off all work areas, covered floors and left it looking even better than before damage. Quite impressed! Would recommend and use this contractor again.

We started off by getting bids from four separate contractors. Stan's bid was somewhere in the middle price wise but I find that it isn't always best to go with the lowest bid. Some contractors will give you low bids just to get their foot in the door, leaving things out like permits etc.. I felt Stan gave an honest and well thought out price. I also like to see what kind of vibe I get from a contractor when I'm speaking with them. If they seem like a used car salesman, just telling me what I want to hear, then that's a great indicator to avoid at all costs. I didn't get that vibe with Stan at all. He seemed very honest and to the point which I like. Once contracts were signed the project started and went very smoothly. Stan projected, if I remember correctly, that it would take around six weeks for the conversion and that's about how long it took. I've heard horror stories from other people about contractors disappearing, during a project, for long lengths of time and taking forever to complete the project but I can tell you this was not the case with Stan and Superior Building Concepts. Every time I sent Stan an email with a question/concern it was addressed immediately, and, as was stated earlier, our garage conversion was completed in the projected time frame. Ultimately, working with Stan and Superior Building Concepts was a great experience. The garage conversion looks great and has become a heavily used addition to our home. I would recommend Superior Building Concepts to anyone seeking a contractor and would/will definitely use them again.

Stan was awesome! Of all the contractors we talked to, Stan was the only one who was able to actually capture our vision. He was very professional and if a problem raised, big or small, he was on top of it to make sure it was taken care of properly and at no additional charge to us. He used subcontractors for some of the various projects. They were all professional, friendly and courteous of our property. Our house looks beautiful and we will be referring him to everyone we know!

Stan showed up as promised, performed great quality work, was extremely neat (in terms of covering up the work site and cleaning after the job was done), and gave good advice and guidance.

I intervievied 6 siding companies from Portland and Vancouver all of whom received an A grade through Angie list of at least 6 A scores. All came out to look at job which was 3 stories up. Several did not return a quote or did not return a call. One other company did return a quote but said the repair was "a month or two" out on his schedule. Not to interested in job I would say. This was not a big job but required some planning as to scaffolds up to 3 stories so the job appears to separate the siding men from the hobby types. Stan came out when he would, communicated the schedule to me, did the work within a week and half and completed the job in 3 days in spite of the rain and painting the replacement work. Not the easiest environment to work in. The job/chimney cap looks new again and matches exactly my desire of the original work. There was no damage to the high vegetation around the project and the job site was always clean and all debris was hauled away. Very highly rcommend Stan and his company for repair of siding issues.

They were very professional and just listened to what we wanted as far as an addition on our house and gave us some suggestions on what would be an easier place to put an addition on. Then he sent us an estimate within a week, breaking down every single cost, which was nice.
