I really cannot recommend this company enough. Revival was very professional and great communicators. Never did they push any product or service but came to our home and ran their air tests which showed how much air was getting into our home not just from outside but from our attic spaces. They were able to provide plenty of data, which I like, that showed exactly what was taking place in our home regarding heating and cooling. Based on the data, we picked a course of action to seal the house, add insulation and seal our ducts. The Revival crew was on time, professional, hard-working and clean, picking up after themselves every day they were at our home. The work took about a week to complete and Robert, one of the owners, was on-site almost every day and even came out on a couple of weekends to finish the tests once the work was complete. He performed a blower-door test before and after and the improvement was amazing. Their service is something that I believe every homeowner should have done. I wish I would have had them test our home before we replaced our windows: air-sealing our home has made a huge difference in the livability and comfort of our home. We no longer have a drafty, cold house with cold floors and counters. Our furnace no longer works nearly as hard as it did (extending its life), our heating bill has fallen to anywhere to 1/3 to 1/2 less per month this winter compared to last winter before we had the work done. We have much less dust in home as the furnace is no longer trying to pull air through undersized return ducts or pulling dust out of the attic now that all the gaps have been sealed. Lastly, the temperature on all levels of the house is consistent. We no longer have a hot upstairs and a cold basement: all floors are equal in temperature, winter and summer.
Description of Work: Attic Ventilation - added vents to the roof as well replaced bathroom fan ventilation and brought it up to code, sealed holes in interior attic walls from a prior insulation job from a different company, removed old insulation covering soffit vents. Air sealing - sealed every opening into the attic from the living spaces, sealed inside the home (electrical switches and outlets, plumbing, bathroom fans, air returns), sealed where the floor and walls meet to keep air from being pulled from the attic back into the house when the furnace was running as well as letting conditioned air leave the living space into the attic. Added Insulation to Attic - added blown-in insulation Heat Recovery Ventilation - We decided to add a heat recovery ventilation system now that the house was sealed to bring in fresh air and to control humidity within the home. Duct Improvements - sealed and replaced duct work where needed. Ran a test on the furnace to check efficiency and load. Replaced one return duct which was sized too small and added a return to reduce the load on the furnace. What a difference it has made in heating our home.

We purchased our 30 yr. old home in December and even though we have new and overly adequate Lennox furnaces our house is freezing. The floors and counters were really cold even when we had the heat at 70+. Ben spent several hours evaluating the house for potential reasons and remedies. He provided a detailed analysis showing where and how the heat was escaping and made recommendations for improvements guaranteed to save on energy costs, but more importantly, (to us), make us comfortable and warm. Turns out we were loosing a lot of heat from poorly insulated and sealed ducting, dozens of recessed can lights, uninsulated or uneven installation of insulated areas, poorly sealed windows, doors, electrical outlets, base board trim, etc. A team, led by James, spent 4 days in our home and the results are incredible. We really can feel a difference and notice the heater isn't constantly cycling. They worked cleanly and carefully and in a professional manner. They let me know they found water from an active leak in the crawl space and determined the source. They found a few surprises like poorly installed duct runs from a previous remodel and replaced the duct work without charging me extra for it. Finally, they made common sense recommendations based on data. They didn't try to sell me expensive windows or equipment because our home was losing energy mostly through leaky ducting and the many can lights we have. Even the insulation work was minimal, but they replaced or added as necessary. This has been the best experience we've ever had with a service provider.
Description of Work: Revival Energy provided Whole house "Envelope Sealing", Duct Sealing & Insulation, Attic Ventilation, HVAC Duct modification (Our garage had four out of code heat registers creating potential fire hazard per our home inspector. Revival decommissioned the registers and re-directed the runs to the bonus space above which shares the 2nd heater on the home), on our 3500 square foot home.

Prior to Thanksgiving I decided to have my furnace checked out before going into winter. I called a nearby heating/air conditioning company to come by. They have been used before by close friends who had no problem with them. The appt was kept by a pleasant fellow who went over the furnace, replaced a part and the filter, and pronounced it ready for winter. It took a couple of weeks before I realized it wasn't really heating the place so I called them back. Different worker this time who told me my furnace had "cancer" and probably wouldn't last long. He showed me how to use the toggle switch if it wasn't working properly, so I could trigger it to turn on. He fixed nothing and replaced nothing and asked $160.00 for the call. I realized my time was short for this furnace so I entered a crash course to gather information about my best furnace options. Needless to say, I didn't invite the first company to return for the job. My first phone call to Revival reached Jim Ballman who set up an appointment for me with Robert Brierly. I talked to several salesmen from different companies before and after I met with Mr Brierly. Several didn't seem interested in coming to my home. I felt the salesman working the job should see what he'd face first hand so I quickly eliminated them. A couple of salesmen came by to give bids, mostly verbal, and focused entirely on the furnace. It took Revival and Robert Brierly to give me the full picture of the problem and to help me understand what we needed to do to make the house more comfortable. Robert didn't push, never rushed, armed me with much information and went back to the office. I called him to hire them for the job within a couple of days. Overall, it was the perfect job and I'm delighted with the resulting warmth and lack of drafts.
Description of Work: I recently had to replace my gas furnace. After talking to several furnace salesmen I deceided Revival Energy group offered everything I needed. They not only helped me select a highly rated furnace but were able to provide a home energy assessment which clearly defined needed additional insulation and the importance of closing cold air entry points in the foundation. Our home is more than 40 years old and I quickly felt the much more consistent warmth available in the home. I first talked with and then hired Robert Brierly to handle the project for Revival. The company response was remarkable. Everyone involved was prompt, efficient, worked fast and clean plus I found the workers to be thoughtful and courteous. The furnace was installed and up and running in one day. It took several days to blow in more insulation and seal the cold air entry points. The electrical inspector volunteered that they did a good job for me and I have no doubt about that. A possible nightmare experience turned out to be delightful. Out of ignorance I could have made some poor choices. Fortunately, because of a review I'd read about Revival in Angies List last year, I finished with complete satisfaction. They definately earned and deserve their 5 star rating.

I used their services a couple of weeks from the moment I looked them up on Angie's list. They came in just for a review. They told me where the heat loss was and how I could save energy in the home. My experience with them was extremely good, actually I was very satisfied. I would say that everyone should give them a try because there are a few things that we do not know we could do to save energy. They said that it is something that is cost effective that we can do at home to our stuff and that would save a bunch of our energy bills over the month. I would like recommending them.

Revival Energy were fine. They guy who came in was really good and professional. He just did all the testing. I haven't done anything else with them yet, but I might eventually. The guy went through the whole house and did an inspection. I didn't really have anything major to deal with. He didn't try and up sell me on anything. The price was good and he was here for like 3 hours. He was right on time.

Ben Fish, the audit technician arrived as scheduled and thoroughly explained the procedure for testing and modeling thermal performance. He collected information on the house, energy usage history, appliances and HVAC equipment and input into the modeling program. He set up the equipment to negatively pressurize the house. Ben then went from room to room doing an infrared thermal scan to determine the sources of air infiltration and to check insulation effectiveness. As we went from room to room, he showed me the thermal scans and explained what they were indicating. After collecting all the input data and measuring the total air leakage, Ben ran the computer program model and carefully went over the results and recommendations for improvements. He followed up emailing me the completed report with several levels of recommendations and costs. The report was very informative, well documented and professionally done. Ben followed up several weeks later asking if we needed any more information to help in our decision. We never felt that we were being pressured to contract with Revival for the improvement work. We ultimately selected a different HVAC contractor to install a heat pump and high efficiency gas furnace per the Revival recommendation. This was largely due to cost and brand preference.
Description of Work: Revival performed a whole house energy audit testing for air infiltration and insulation effectiveness. They used a state of the art computer program to model the thermal characteristics of the house including all appliances, duct work, furnace and air conditioning.

It seemed like a no-brainer. Buy the audit and then turn in the rebate at a final cost of little to no money out of pocket. Other than a confirmation that my purchase had been processed and that the company was back logged with orders, no one ever contacted me to set up an actual appointment. EVER. Granted, I never contacted them (or Angie's) either but I'm a working mom and have better things to worry about. I sort of forgot about it until Angie started pestering me to write this review :) I made a purchase and they were suppose to follow up. Complete waste.

I liked this crew very much, from initial measurements to final measurements. Very professional and data-driven process. They started by matching their initial house pressurization test findings to a computer energy model of the house, and kept refining the model until it matched the actual energy consumption as reported by utility companies. From that they are able to provide credible estimates for potential energy savings, and offered various levels of improvements from most cost-effective, bang-for-the buck, first-things-first project level to squeezing every last bit of performance out of the house at the "do everything possible" project level. We went for the middle (I would assume the business model for the estimate package is based on driving that decision) and while it was an eye-popping amount of money, from where we sit a year later ... it was worth it. Energy bill is down pretty much according to the model, and comfort is up. They also earned it ... they were very thorough. The workers who came to do the sealing and ductwork were top-notch. They worked fast and hard, reaching and sealing places I'd have just given up on. When the work was done they came back with the house pressurization equipment and verified/validated that the mission had been accomplished. They were mildly concerned about one measurement at my hot water heater and suggested I consider having it checked for proper operation. Since it was w-a-y past its expected end-of-life date I went ahead and replaced it after they'd completed their work. About a week after that the owner of the company came out to take some final measurements on the new water heater to confirm that all was healthy and good. Later I received follow-up with additional rebate and tax credit information. I was impressed with Revival from start to finish.

It took about 3 hours ... and at the end of his evaluation, Ben discussed his findings with us and made recommendations (based upon sound science and the measurements he took) for improving our energy efficiency and overall comfort in the house. Ben was not a pushy salesperson. To the contrary, we felt like he was more of an energy consultant --- his mission was to educate and inform us about how we were using energy, where we were losing energy, and how much we were spending so that we could make wiser and more informed decisions about how to deal with each of those areas. And the decisions about whether or not to repair, replace, or upgrade our building envelope or hvac equipment, as Ben explained, are influenced by tradeoffs and economics. Based upon the cost of our current energy consumption (electric and gas) measured against the cost of repairing, replacing, or upgrading ... some investments make sense over time, and others don't. A couple hours after Ben's visit, we received an e mail report from him containing his findings, thermal images showing areas of energy loss through interior walls and around windows/doors, and his proposal with various recommendations and costs for corrections and improvements. We found the report very helpful. And we appreciated Ben's prompt followup with the report. He was very helpful, responsive, professional, respectful, and experienced! We could tell that he knew his stuff -- he has built homes, installed hvac equipment, and worked in the industry for many years. That experience really came through with every answer to our questions. We highly recommend Revival Energy LLC to anyone wishing to evalute their own home's energy efficiency. And when we decide to take action on their recommendations, we will definately call Ben and Revival Energy LLC their assistance.
Description of Work: Ben from Revival Energy LLC did a first class job of auditing our home for energy efficiency. He called before he arrived to confirm the appointment, was exactly on time for the appointment, took off his shoes and totally respected our home, our time, and honestly and sincerely answered all of our questions. After gathering the necessary information about our home (square footage, age, # of bedrooms and bathrooms, heating and air conditioning equipment details, type of windows, energy consumption for the last year -- electric and gas bills), Ben thoroughly inspected our home from attic to crawl space to document insulation, vents, duct systems, type of lighting, appliances, and anything else that involved energy consumption. He ran a pressure test of the whole house to measure air flow pressures and air leakage, a blower test to measure loss of air through the duct system, and ran a thermal image scan of walls, ceilings, and floors to show in picture form where we were losing heat. He measured each room and compiled a complete record of the major features of the home. He even measured the carbon monoxide levels! It was extensive and comprehensive!

The tech was late due to scheduling of other jobs but assured me that we would still be done by the time indicated when I scheduled the appointment - and that was indeed the case. I liked that he was honest about the potential upgrades I could do because he felt that they would not be cost-effective as my home was relatively in good shape. I would hire/recommend them to someone wanting to do an energy audit as they are not looking to make money on the tests - only if there is an opportunity to do construction work afterwards.

The experience was great and I have no problem recommending Robert and his team for home energy audits.
Description of Work: Robert patiently walked through every room and closet of our 3 story, 5 bedroom, three bath home. He used their heat sensitive camera to identify house leaks as well as the home pressure check. Robert's results matched the ones we received from the inspection company we used in February. But Robert was able to provide more and better photos of our problem areas. This Angie's List Big Deal was a very good value for the information we got.
