We contacted Prairie Electric to install a Kohler standby generator. From our first meeting at our home, we were impressed with the knowledge and helpful suggestions Mark provided. We placed our order and were told that we were scheduled for August 7 & 8 for the installation. On the morning of August 7th Ben and his apprentice arrived, surveyed the project and offered some suggestions that made sense. Ben is an electrician, with many generator installs worth of experience. Like our initial contact with Prairie personnel, Ben was professional, friendly and eminently qualified. They went to work, overcoming a few unexpected issues during the installation. Part of the install required hooking up the natural gas line to the generator which also went smoothly. After a day and a day and a half the generator was started up for the first test run. We were given a brief training course and were left with a phone number to call Ben if we had any further questions or need help. We are totally satisfied with the Prairie Electric and would not hesitate to recommend them. Both Portland City Electrical and Mechanical inspections passed with no issues.

all went well from my initial appointment for a generator install estimate with Ryan, who was thorough in discussing my generator install, which is Kohler brand, Ryan answered all my questions, took pics & measurements on the initial visit and sent my estimate electronically. This job was very involved. then what we originally thought, had to have work done by NW Natural Gas, to increase the flow valve by digging down into the street to my gas line which was separate not included in the bid, which was $3400, and upgrade my gas meters. once NW Natural completed their work my install took place as scheduled, Ben and his crew did a fantastic job getting this install completed in a timely fashion while on site Ben kept us informed of the progress they were making and when my power would be off, which we appreciated, the install was originally scheduled for three days, but they finished the job in two days. All is good, now we’re just waiting for an outage so we can see how good the generator kicks in and keeps everything going

Guys showed up on day we agreed upon and did a good job. One guy was pretty nice other guy seemed annoyed at everything, especially that I didn't want to put a button for garbage disposal on front of my cabinet instead of under or on the sink, said it was harder for him. When I had called to make the appointment, I explained what I wanted done and I was told there was a $250.00 min for a job this small. I was ok with that, figured maybe $350.00 with parts. Took them approximately an hour (with the annoyed guy on his phone part of the time) to do the job and I was charged $600.00. If you use these guys make sure you get a written estimate first.

They couldn’t schedule sooner than 4 weeks for the estimate. They didn’t show up. The estimator claimed he called and decided not to show up when he didn’t get an answer. There was no record of a call on my cell phone, and no message was left. It was a huge waste of time.

They noticed some logistical challenges right away about how to work with the house and garage structure. They were very professional, checked out their proposed plan with us, then went right to work. They arrived on time and finished in half the time we expected. We were very happy with their work and expertise. .

I am so pleased. Everything went as one would hope. Joel came out to give me an estimate, he adjusted the first one to show the cost of each item and indicate the additional costs if the third heater needed to be replaced. Chris arrived on time, the holes were enlarged with no problems, the perfect fitting new heaters were installed and checked. Everything was vacuumed and all old materials removed. Chris was so pleasant, didn't mind my curiosity or the cats and, most important, very professional and knowledgeable and efficient. The bill was what Joel estimated, no surprises. My thanks to Joel and Chris and Prairie Elec. I will not hesitate to call them if I need electrical work in the future.
Description of Work: Replace 2 old wall heaters, one defective, both using the same thermostat. In order to do this the surrounding wall for both heaters needed to be enlarged. One of the walls is made of wood boards over plaster board. A third wall heater and thermostat needed checking to see if there were any problems. I also asked Prairie Elec. to purchase the new heaters for me.

As mentioned in another of my reviews, we purchased an older home last year and knew that we'd need a lot of updates to the infrastructure especially insulation, windows, plumbing, electrical, etc. One of our top priorities was to ensure the electrical was safe and any updates needed were made. After collecting proposals and quotes from a few companies (mostly that were reviewed in Angie's List), we chose Prairie Electric Inc. for our electrical needs. The home inspection was performed first--a few weeks before we had the other services completed. The inspection was a thorough walk-through of the house. We had a lot of questions including ones related to the age of the electrical wiring in place, the quality of the breaker box (and properly identifying circuits since they currently were not labeled), specific items related to possibly adding one or two circuits to eliminate blowing breakers, plus discussing the plan for the bathroom fan & switch and the garbage disposal plug & switch. Once all of our questions were answered, we knew based on recommendations from Angie's List plus from other friends we had in the community that had used their services, too, and our own familiarity with their company from when we lived in the area in the past--we knew they were the ones to get the job done. Then a few weeks later we had them back to complete a receptacle inspection (for fire safety purposes), installing the bathroom fan & switch, adding a microwave circuit (so our breaker would quit blowing), labeling the breaker box (WAY helpful), plus adding the plug and switch for the new garbage disposal. The electricians that performed these services were professional, friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and very helpful. They offered good insights while they were performing the work and we were grateful for that. They were especially accommodating to help avoid shutting down intranet services while working on one of the electrical lines by running a separate temporary one. I was working from home that day and it helped me avoid interruptions on a real busy work day. That extra effort was considerate and much appreciated. As we look forward to a couple other systems being replaced in our home, we expect to have Prairie Electric back to support any electrical requirements associated with those projects.

The lighting in our kitchen stopped working on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, so I logged onto Angie's List to find a recommended electrician. After reading the reviews and scanning the deals available, I tried contacting one provider who was running a special that included two hours of labor for essentially the price of one. I called the provider listed to determine if they had any availability to get the issue fixed, but after several rings and no answer, I left a message. Having not heard back by the next morning, I called Prairie Electric Inc. and spoke to Tom. After advising him of the issue, he said that they would try to get someone out to our house that afternoon. Around 3 pm, I received a call from Chris at Prairie Electric, who stated that he was in town and was free if I could meet him at my house. After running out of work, in near record time, I met Chris at our house. Our home was built in 1940 and is "blessed" with some of the original wiring, which I knew could make this a little more difficult a job than one might see with a new construction home. Unfortunately, I was right; however, Chris was great! He was very thorough, checked all of the lights and the sockets on the circuit to determine if it was a breaker issue or a wiring issue. In doing so, he ended up replacing an old plug out of an abundance of caution. Eventually, he determined that the issue was most likely related to the j-box that served the several lights and sockets that were not functioning. After some exploring, we were able to find an access panel for the attic space that contained the box (having lived in the house, I didn't even know that the access panel was there until we found it). Upon examination of the j-box, Chris found the problem immediately. It looked as though a bad connection in the j-box had melted the plastic cap. I was shocked to say the least, as a spark from the wiring could have started a house fire due to it's close proximity to insulation and dry timber, not to mention the fact that the box did not have a lid that would prevent such issues. Fortunately, Chris was able to fix the issue, clean the wires, and reconnect them. Additionally, he placed a lid on the box in order to prevent a similar issue from causing a fire in the future. The whole team at Eagle Electric Inc. was great to work with. They are knowledgeable, kind, and punctual. I can't even begin to thank Chris for the work that he did at our house and I know that I will use them for any future electric issues (which will include updating our old breaker panel in the near future)!!

Called mid-day for a breaker repair for a home heater and made appointment for the afternoon. The electrician (Mark) called when he was 30 mins out. He had the breaker fixed and the heaters installed (I had removed them for troubleshooting) within 15 minutes. With the rest of his time he was a great help trouble shooting some electrical problems in our carport and planning some future home renovations. They'll definitely my electricians of choice for years to come!

Had an issue in the kitchen where one wall of appliances, etc would not work I tried reseting the GFI and tripping and resetting the breakers..no luck. Called Prairie Electric and talked to one of the service guys. He suggested checking for an additional GFI plug (there wasn't one). Gave him the address, phone number, etc, and said an electrician would call when he was on his way. Got a call about 15 minutes later, the electrician was there 10 minutes later and fixed the problem in about 15 minutes. Excellent response, customer service, etc. Job well done. Probably could have changed the plug on my own..but I sort of gave up messing with sparky stuff.

On both occasions I had great service with Dean and Mark. Both men were professional yet friendly. One of the fans developed an unusual noise after instillation. After having one of my circuits trip continually for an appliance and the repair technician told me that there was nothing wrong with the appliance, he thought it was the breaker or wiring may be at fault. I discovered that my panels were the old Zinsco panels from the late 60s. With more research I discovered that these could be hazardous and should be replaced. I spoke to Prairie Electric and supplied photos of my panels. They confirmed the antiquated brand, and include literature regarding it. I received a quote, and the job came in as promised. They did caution me that they would have to cut away sections of the wall to access the wiring and was very upfront and communicative to the process and what to expect. They provided every step from permitting, coordinating with the utility to shut down power, instillation, and inspection. They were able it identify non-code wiring and give good suggestions to easily and efficiently resolve. Very professional and did a good job for us.

Bad to worse !! We called to have an electrical breaker replaced. Tech originally misdiagnosed a breaker issue. We were told the breaker was not a problem it was the dryer they kept kicking the breaker so we called a appliance technician the dryer was fine and was told it was probably the breaker. We called prairie electric dad within two days. They sent the same service technician out again .. this time said oh yes it is the breaker I didn't hear at the humming last time I was here and he apologised and in turn charged another service call and a part cost on top of that. We argued the cost because it had just been out two days since his misdiagnosing the problem and he called the main office and was told we had to pay the additional service today. We Have been in contact with the company over the last two years we talk to the same individual who also agrees that there may have ban and overcharge but always has an excuse to call us back but he never does we have to call again. And again the same excuse. Each contact everybody was personable helpful and apologetic for all the issues we had been having so I cannot say they do not have customer good customer service in a way. But I do consider the overcharge of the service call not being addressed after two years a big problem. I cannot recommend them for anybody else based on the problems we had We the electric Co out again for an issue with a yard light and they still recall the overpayment but no one ever did anything about it. In this case two tries and you're out. We will look for a different Company for our electrical issues in the future ***Date of service is approximate***

In December we called Prairie Electric because one of our wall unit heaters stopped working. When the guy fixed that issue, he still had a lot of time left in the hour that we were paying for, so he asked if we needed anything else. We mentioned that we wouldn't mind a new thermostat for the heater in our son's room, and that the light switch in that room seemed to be faulty. The guy replaced the thermostat and the light switch, using a switch we had already provided. He didn't bother to turn the power off before doing any of this. I guess he figured he knows what he's doing, so why follow safety protocol? He said nothing about any issues with the wiring for either the thermostat or the light switch. Since Prairie Electric "fixed" our problem, the light in my son's room has come on spontaneously, even though the switch is off, several times, though that was the problem the electrician was supposed to fix. Even worse, the wall heater turns on when the weather gets super hot, even if the thermostat is turned as low as possible (it has no "off" switch). We called once to complain about this to Prairie Electric, and they didn't offer any solution. When the heater turned on again tonight, we called again to find out if someone could come out to solve the issue. The electrician who called us back, Thor, said that they could come out, and if it turned out the problem was on their end, it would be free, but otherwise we would have to pay. Bear in mind that we know very little about electricity, so it's quite easy for anyone to say, "Yep, the problem is you," and charge us just for him coming out. Even though this NEVER happened before Prairie Electric came out to "fix" the thermostat and light switch. My wife said she needed to talk to me, and Thor said he would call back in five minutes. It has now been an hour, with no word from Thor. We tried calling him, and it went to voicemail. At this point the only solution we had was to shut off the power, remove the thermostat, and cap the wires. And now that it won't be getting hot again for a while, the issue with the heater probably won't happen, and we won't be able to prove to Prairie Electric that anything happened at all. Prairie Electric is beyond unprofessional. They do not stand by the work they perform, instead opting to charge $150/hour (plus the electrician's mileage) for an emergency call, even though they're the ones who created the emergency in the first place. So, beware. You may have had a pleasant experience with the initial work (as we did), but if/when something goes wrong, you won't be able to count on Prairie Electric to do the right thing.

We have left several messages with this member to discuss and solve the problem. We do not do business like this. Our on call electrician is specifically for "emergencies" We are more than happy to resolve this if your willing to call back. We apologize for any mistakes on our part and we are more than willing to make things right. Most likely the heat circuit thermostat has entirely nothing to do with a light switch but we have seen crazier things when homes are wired in a non standard method. Please call our service department , we can help.
