As I approached the register, Loren started SCREAMING at me REALLY LOUD about how "he was trying to help" (oh really? by walking off when I was obviously trying to find something? If he was truly ?trying to help? then why didn?t he come over and ask if I needed help instead of basically telling me to buzz off so he could get home? This is obviously not about me, it?s about Loren - Read the reviews. He?s an unhappy man who just wants your money. He can?t be courteous, just greedy. I will never go back to Orchards Feed because of that ungrateful b******. I was their loyal customer for 18+ years. Do I really deserve this? I've spent thousands of dollars there, I bought virtually every kind of food...for my cats, horses, dogs, birds, squirrels, wood fence posts, X-mas gifts, toys, sculptures, medications, virtually anything a farm owner ever needs, but NEVER again. Since moving into their new grandiose McMansion store, nobody knows anything about horses, feline/canine nutrition, birds, etc. The staff is almost ALL new. I agree with all the other comments here: ?Loren? (the owner) has a rotten attitude & lousy customer service. Screw Loren. He should retire?, ? the owner has MAJOR anger management issues, he is entirely unprofessional & rude,?; ?they don?t care if you are a loyal customer.? ?This man only cares about money. I won?t go there again?. ?Loren should be ashamed of himself? ? "There are plenty of places to buy feed w/ NO sales tax? and "plenty of local feed stores where they treat you with respect?. Other stores provide caring and concern, they answer questions, they guide you to what you need, they don?t storm up to you like a raging, red-faced bull, full of his misdirected rage simply because he's too lazy to help a customer find an item they want to BUY. BTW, Petsmart & Home Depot allow pets inside, but Orchards Feed is too snobby for that. Loren can?t even pretend to care about the people who built his wealth..., much less our beloved 4-legged friends. I like to support independent local stores, BUT there?s not a snowballs chance in h*** I?ll ever set foot in there again. I WILL tell everyone I know what a rude, raging, unfriendly, greedy b****** Loren is. I loved the old, original store next door. That was ?in the old days?. I miss that cute little Feed Store. The former staff was knowledgeable and welcoming. I was always greeted quickly and amiably by a short, fit, energetic, dark-haired man with a thick moustache who was kind, patient, and always ready and willing to carry my items out to my car. He looked like he should wear a cowboy hat with his blue jeans and plaid shirt. He was friendly, helpful, and made an effort to help. The other staff were efficient and honest, too. There was a brunette who was always nice, i never see her anymore either. They all provided good recommmendations and the charming storefront made me feel like I was on a scene from Gunsmoke. Bigger is NOT better. The helpful staff are gone, nobody asks to help me when I arrive, nobody is knowledgeable enough to answer my questions. This yuppified, Saks Fifth Avenue Feed store was apparently built bigger in order to better accomodate the big fat hog who owns it. Now, his staff stands around in the epicenter of the Orchards Feed Store universe as if they?re doing customers a big favor by just letting us spend our hard earned $$ there. I will never ever go back. When I left, I called my friend and told him what happened. I?ll tell my other friends, too. My friend goes there once in awhile and agreed ?the owner is always gruff, grumpy, and unfriendly?... despite the fact that my friend is as sweet as an old Golden Retriever... the owner even treats him like garbage. So, I guess he isn't just a misogynist, he is just a miserable old man who doesn't like anyone. The NEW 'ambiance and atmosphere' is totally, entirely different. Where did all the quaint ambiance go? Where did the old staff go? They must have high turnover rates because grumpy old Loren is unbearable to work for. Fortunately, he was never around when I went to the old store after I got off work, probably because he couldn?t fit inside. I guess that?s why he had to build a bigger store, he couldn?t fit his fat a** in the old store. Also, they don't even support causes that animal lovers care about, like the Humane Society or Furry Friends, so I don?t like that they don?t offer the option to give my $$ change to a local and worthy animal cause. I can go to Petsmart and if I want...my change can go towards preventing animal abuse or some other worthy animal cause, so why go here? The only time they pretend to care about animals is when they have a money making event. If they really cared, there would be a Humane Society/Furry Friends donation box in there all the time. I guess selfish human hogs (nothing against real 4-legged pigs) aren't interested in helping our less fortunate 4-legged friends. Go to h***, Loren. Too bad you built thisedifice to your own mega-ego, you are ruining it by being there. If you would only leave, I'm sure your staff could do a better job than they can do with your raging anger is hanging over their heads. I pity your staff. No wonder you can't keep anyone for long. DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT, READ THE REVIEWS ON GOOGLE, ETC. HE PAYS $$ TO BE ON ANGIES LIST. Where to go? Wilco in Battle Ground, Pioneer Feed, Rietdyk's in Ridgefield, or skip taxes and visit Burns Feed in OR, they're really wonderful, knowledgeable and they have wayyyyyyyyyyy more to offer than Orchards feed does! Get a clue, Loren, nobody has a nice thing to say about you. Duhhhh. Great approach to running a business. I hope you fail...with Amazon to compete with, there's a good chance you will.
Description of Work: It’s X-mas eve & I just left Orchards Feed after being SCREAMED at by the big, fat ugly owner, Loren. Apparently, he hates everyone because nobody wants him if not for the money he rakes in by exploiting unwitting customers. Loren is a modern day Scrooge. I arrived at 3:45 pm. I didn’t know they were closing early @ 4 pm. Nobody asked “ Do you need help?” even though there were few customers & plenty of staff. I tried to find cat food I get there, but couldn’t find it. They’re constantly shifting things around since they moved. Loren, the owner, waddled by and instead of saying ”Can I help you find something before we close?” He barked out “you better finish up, we close at 4”. I obviously needed HELP, so I started saying “Hello, ...hello, hello”..., louder and louder. I was trying to get a clerk to help me asap so I could leave by 4. Finally, a girl came to show me where they had moved the cat food.

Not a problem. Price was good. Boys don't seem to be upset or agitated. Jimmie (Groomer) was receptive to information and suggestions. They just started up operations and they need a Dutch door for the drop off/pickup. IMHO, off to a good start......
