He showed up early which while punctual is rather inconvenient when you have a schedule. I had just arrived home from work and would have liked to had some lunch and let the dog out etc. But no biggie. The BIGGIE , or one of them was the fact that when he asked me what I was looking for and I replied " the quietest, most efficient model suitable for my home" and he LAUGHED! Who laughs at someone is potentially looking to spend thousands of dollars with your company? When I asked him what was funny about that, he had no answer. After stuttering around a bit he said he thought I would be more picky. Quiet and efficient isn't picky? Fairly certain he wanted me to say " I want to spent this much". This feeling was reinforced later when he asked me how much I could afford a week He really showed no interest in selling me a system. I also had a few other things by an electrician which he said was possible. One of those being a water heater installed. He said that wasn't allowed. Had to have a plummer. However the other 3 companies I spoke with didn't have a problem with it. The estimate I got after his gave me 100 times more information. They actually seem to want my business. Leon was here 2/14/14 He said he would e-mail me an estimate. Today is 2/21/14 and no estimate has been sent. THEY DID NOT THINK I WAS WORTH THEIR TIME. . so right after I wrote this review I received his quote. Go figure. However it was insulting ssage----- From: Leon.Beck <Leon.Beck@onehourheat.com> To: blond2core <blond2core@aol.com> Sent: Fri, Feb 21, 2014 11:14 am Subject: HVAC System Hi Ada,I promised an email. I am behind little, really busy! That?s good! So I do have some pricing for you. Inside the Costco program I priced two systems- I have many more, I want to get your feelings before doing a formal proposal. The first is a standard efficiency 2.5 ton system at $7967.40 total, you would then get back $700 Costco card and $147 for the executive return. It doesn?t qualify for PUD rebates. The second is a high efficiency system at $9008.04 and you get back $800 Costco card and the executive return is $166. This system does have the ratings needed 15 SEER & 9 HSPF to get PUD rebates but may not based on the duct. The air scrubber is on sale right now for $1400 and is not included in these prices. Please let me know if you would like something else, or any other information. My reply: Really? I asked for the most efficient system and you quote me on one that won't even meet PUD minimums? Why would anyone put in a new system that won't even meet basic expectations? Oh that is right, you found my request amusing. I remember that quite clearly. In the time it took you to get around to me two other contractors found the time to spend admirable amount of time answering my questions and concerns, to educate me on this major purchase. The access my current and future usage. To address the questions I had about other electrical work. To assure me they could arrange to have a hot water heater installed. To quote me on said hot water heater. To follow up with me both by phone and email on any latter questions. They did not laugh at me basic needs and questions nor did they give me the impression they felt I was wasting their time. As for your second quote. One of your competitors quoted me a 9.5 hspf and 16 seer for 8146. That is more bang for my buck than what you were offering, for barely meeting pud. You were concerned with amount I wanted to spend, your competitors were concerned with what I needed.

First I would like to be very clear that the team that comes out to do the work is not included in the negative view of this company. The guys that come to do the work are on time, professional, clean up well after themselves and do a great job period! tony, Jason, chris and the whole team really care that they are in your home and that the work they are doing affect your everyday life including after they are gone. Our house was a 3 day job that turned into a whole lot longer, due to a portion of our house being built in 1953. It was difficult and involved and the work crews were pleasant, and I felt did quality work. Now as for the salesman and manager. We originally went through Costco, feeling like Costco only allows reputable companies. We felt well informed, as the sales person seemed to answer all of our questions. and assured us that the products he was recommending would be efficient and work well in our home and for our lifestyle. They do not. Their contract includes a two year comfort aggreement that this company DOES NOT honor. The tankless water heater scalds and freezes our family repeatedly. The heat pump does not regulate the temp. in our house. I have discussed these issues with the manager who could obviuously careless that we paid 18000 dollars for improvements that make our everyday living a pain, and DID NOT save us on our utility bill. sales guys famous words " you guys will at least save the payment for they system oon your utility bill" . IF they had put a gas furnace in the attic, we may have saved money, but they converted everything to electric, something we did not realized until after the fact, when we had PUD come out to help us figure out why our Utility bill was higher than when we had our old system. Yes, our fault for not noticing that on the paperwork, that they were putting in electric. I saw them putting the gas line up to the attic, so I never questioned it. Miller's says that the tankless water heater likely isn't working right because of the water pressure to our house, Not true we had it checked..next excuse then it's because we didn't replace the old piping under the "old" part of the house. Uhmmm something we should have been informed of during the process. we would have done it had we known it would have affected the system. And the sales guy assured us that if anything needed to be done to make the system work for our home it would be done. They did let us know about some ducting that needed to be replaced ( which of coarse we had done when told it was an issue). The Heat pump overheats and freezes the "old" side of our house, while still leaving the new side our house either still hot when trying to cool or still cold when trying to heat... HIs answer " well if there are are variances in the temperature the heat should be more regulated in the newer side of your house not the older one" .... okay but that's NOT what's happening. We have given up on Miller's doing what's right. We are at this point likely pulling the system out. And putting something else in... And for others thinking of heat pumps. PUD stated to me " yes these kind of systems are advertised as the most efficient, however to gain the efficeincy they advertise you must keep your house at a steady degree year round". I don't live like that, I like my windows open when the weather is nice(obviously I turn the system off, yup He asked me that!!!). I clearly explained this to the sales guy when we talked about what kind of system would work best for OUR home, and OUR lifestyles. And for tankless water heaters, yes the hot water doesn't really run out, but it's not steady either, I'm still showering with my four year old EVERYDAY, to keep him from being frozen or scalded. If someone so much as flips the water on to wash hands you get it an unpleasant surprise in the shower. And it takes a long time for the water to get heated, which means you pay more in the water you waste letting it run to get to your hot water. My understanding from talking with other companies of how they SHOULD work is that we should not be having this temperature variance, but that it is common to have to run the water a bit longer to get warm water. This is the problem with salesman then installer combos, the sales guys make a bunch of promises but obviously are not educated enough about the homes and products to make good working recommendations.

We stopped by the Lennox booth at Costco to talk to the rep. He answered as many questions as he could. He answered right on all of them. We then had another rep who came to the house to give us an estimate and tell us what all was involved. He was friendly and professional. We scheduled the installation for about a week out. The installers were immature, but technically they did an excellent job. Because we went through Costco, we were received a cash card from them which we received quickly. We were also eligible for a rebate from PUD which we haven't received yet, but will probably receive by the end of the month. We would have received it by now, but one of the women in the office sat on the paperwork for a month before submitting it. Overall we were satisfied and would recommend to others.

Overall ok. Very responsive when asked to discuss and finalize the decision to purchase the system. Then through thier poor scheduling and not communicating well between those providing service, and those arranging the purchase, the install extended a week longer than it should have. Also, there were some issues with a lack of understanding the scope of the project by the installers delaying completion as well. Currently we are waiting for a final inspection to complete the project. They were very polite, fastidious, and appeared competent with respect to thier install. The system works fine-as expected.

I had to replace my old heat pump because it stopped working. They tried to sell the top unit but admitted that the RIO would have been more than the life of the unit for my situation so I went with the next model down. Once the work started everything went on schedule. They even got their electrician to come late to complete the work because I had to travel the next day.

Don't know why I even kept trying to get decent customer service from this company, but here is my experience with them- July 25, 2012- email sent to the company owner: I am totally at a loss at how your company can have A ratings with the BBB and Angie?s List if they way my attempt to business with you is any indication about how your customers are treated. Tuesday July 17, I called to set up service and possible repair (my condenser is icing up) at 1:53 in the afternoon and got an answering service (OK, everyone has to go to lunch and it was nice to get a human), but NO ONE CALLED ME BACK! If I had not purchased a voucher from LivingSocial for the service I would have moved on to a different company, but decided to try again and called again at 12:00 on July 18. I made an appointment for between 8-12 for Monday the 23rd. Monday- at 12:40 after NO ONE CAME TO MY HOME AND NO ONE CALLED, I called to find out what was going on and was told that I had not been on the schedule for the morning, (Lie number 1) but I was for the afternoon, but that a service guy was almost done at another job and would come over as soon as he was finished in about 20-30 minutes. (Lie number 2) 4:30 rolled around. NO ONE CAME TO MY HOME AND NO ONE CALLED. So I called back and was told by a different person that the guy had been to my house at 11:30 that morning, but no one was home and he tried to call, but no one answered. (Lie number 3) (news to me since I had just wasted my entire day waiting with no phone calls from anyone except the person I had to cancel an real afternoon appointment with so I could wait your guy) The person I talked with at 4:30 again said ?a service guy was almost done and would come over as soon as he was finished at another job in about 20-30 minutes?. (Lie number 4) NO ONE CAME AND NO ONE CALLED!!!! After 2 calls to the answering service to try to get hold of someone, I finally got a call back from a tech who could not do anything for me, but at least he called back. He said he would pass down the information and some-one probably the general manager would call me the next morning. 10:30 Tuesday morning when NO ONE CALLED ME, I called and asked to speak to a manager and was put through to Hal. I introduced myself as an extremely angry customer. Hal listened to my story, said he would investigate and call me back with an explanation. He also asked if I would like to re-schedule the following Monday at a specific time, which I was still willing to do at that point. 1:50, Wednesday, I still had not heard from Hal so I called and asked to speak to the owner or general manager. The girl I spoke with said that Hal was the general manager and neither of you were there so I asked for you to call me back today and she said she would give you the message, but she didn?t know if you would call me back or not. (BAD COMMENT) Hal called me back at 2:15. Hal explained that he had discovered that at least one? of the girls who I spoke with on Monday had flat out LIED TO ME and he had put a reprimand in her file. Since I was still willing to go ahead with the appointment on Monday, I asked Hal to confirm that there would be someone at my home at around 9:00. He said there would be someone there or my service would be free. That comment really set me off. I listened to your hold waiting messages over and over the last few days, so my comment back to him was that they already missed the appointment so shouldn?t it be free already. He said no, the service wasn?t free. I asked why your company makes that claim in their advertising if they don?t willingly follow through. He said he thought all I was worried about was the explanation, which I would have probably been satisfied with if he hadn?t made that comment about IF they weren?t there on time. I cancelled my appointment and demanded a refund of the money I paid for the Living Social voucher. July 25- Phone call from owner: Dave called, profusely appologized and I agreed to allow them to come out the following Monday to perform the service. They came on time and worked for most of the morning correcting a problem with the drain pan that they had originally installed incorrectly and coached me on filter replacement. December 7, 2012- Email sent to company owner: Here we go again. I called and got the answering service this morning at 6:52 and told them I needed to have someone come to find out why my furnace is not working, I have no heat! They said someone would call me soon after 7:00 when the office opened. I called back again at 8:11 and got the answering service again and asked to have the manager call me. 9:25 and no one has called me yet. After our experience in July, I had hoped that the lack of customer service I received was a fluke. It is now pretty obvious that I am truly, their EX-Customer.

I had an amazing experience with this company. They were so wonderful! I called Miller's One Hour Heating about re-installing my air conditioner that someone had attempted to steal. All the lines had been cut. I didn't know if it was possible for it to be hooked back up and I was in fear of the cost to do it. The gentleman I spoke with said that if they could do it, it would cost between $200 and $600, possibly more. They scheduled a next day appointment for 10 am. The technician called to let me know he was 10 minutes away. That was thoughtful since most companies just give you a 2 hour window that they might show up. My time is valuable too so I greatly appreciated that Miller's is so punctual. It took the technician approximately 2 hours to hook the air conditioner back up as well as recharge the freon. The final cost was ONLY $200! I could not believe it! The normal charge on the bill showed that I should have been charged at least $580. Miller's was highly recommended by a friend and I am forever grateful for the referral. This is an amazing, honest company and the only Heating/Air Conditioning company I will ever use again. You can't go wrong with Miller's!

We agreed to use their services in part because they were one of Costco's recommended providers so the contract we signed with them included a Costco cash card to be mailed to us after the work was completed. The installation crew was timely and professional. They worked well as a team. They kept us informed of their progress and explained things to us along the way. We were very comfortable with them. The duct cleaning did not happen for some time after the new system was installed. We had to call at least twice to get that completed. The young man who finally did the work told us they had a truck "down" for a while (it would have been helpful to know that as we would have had the work done earlier by someone else). The new system is a huge improvement and seems to be a quality system. We waited for nearly 3 months and never received the Costco cash card (a major reason why we chose this provider over two others). We called Miller's office and were told they would look into it and call us back shortly. After waiting what seemed like a reasonable time without hearing back we called again. We were told that someone had neglected to submit the card request to Costco and that they would take care of it the following Monday. We did eventually receive the card, but certainly would not have if we hadn't called to question its absence. Overall, we feel Miller's work crew was very timely and professional. The company's rate was comparable to other bids we received from reputable companies in the area. We were disappointed by their neglect to follow through initially with the Costco card as we would have used that card this summer to purchase things needed in our new house.
Description of Work: Miller's gave us a bid (which we accepted) to replace an existing heat pump and back up heater, upgrade some undersized ductwork, and clean existing ducts in the house we recently purchased. Upon payment for the work we were to receive a Costco cash card as a sort of rebate for a percentage of the cost of the work.

I can't improve on what's written above.
Description of Work: Although this company did everything asked of them, on time and competently, I recommend against using them because of their pricing practices. What I expect for work of this kind (repair of a furnace) is a charge to be based on the parts used (with a modest markup) and the labor, based on the time involved. One Hour doesn't work this way. They break their services into one of five categories, based in a very general sense on what kind of work had to be done, plus a fee for labor, which varies according to how demanding the customer was in terms of promptness. In my particular case, because the furnace blower wasn't working, they had to replace something called an induction motor, something which I judge cost the company well less than $200. I was charged $580 just for the motor, which I judge as being grossly excessive. The man who did the work was fast and highly competent, and for his time I was charged $129, which I deem quite reasonable. I was also charged a special fee ($65) for next-day frieght service, which I would have considerable reasonable if the charge for motor hadn't so clearly excessive. And of course I was charged state sales tax. I agreed to their charges because my furnace failed in the dead of a cold winter, and so I had little choice. Also, I had used this company once before, and on that other occasionI I was very satisfied. I have absolutely no quarrel with the quality of this company's work, but if you have a modern furnace with a run-of-the-mill breakdown, as I did, the odds are very high that you're going to be overcharged.

The duct cleaning went great. This was the second large job we hired Miller's One Hour to do. In mid 2011 they installed two new heat pumps for us. The experience was very pleasant, the price fair and everyone we came into contact with from Miller's was courteous, professional and very thorough. The quality was first rate. We've been very happy. As a result, we had Miller's One Hour recently service our two furnaces and then committed to have them to clean the air ducts. Brian G. did a very thorough cleaning of the furnaces and was very informative on the needs of our system (we've only lived in the house about 15 months) explaining in detail how we can make our HVAC system work as efficiently as possible. His recommendation to clean the air ducts was a good one. Our home is 6,000 SF so we knew it wouldn't be cheap, however the price quoted was reasonable and very fair. Chris & Brandon (who did the actual duct cleaning) were really easy to work with. They were equally courteous, respectful of our home (taking extra precautions to ensure everything was protected), and very accomodating and professional. The job (in each case) was completed on time and everything was cleaned thoroughly and completely. We've been very pleased with Miller's One Hour, will use them again and would definately recommend them to others. Many thanks, Bill & Lynne

The tech was very nice and knew his stuff, though he did push for me to buy into a membership program they offer. I had the same company out two years ago for the same service and the price had gone up $20, which isn't terrible. After inspecting the A/C, the tech informed me that it was incredibly dirty and didn't look as though it had ever been cleaned. This was frustrating, as I had the same work done two years ago and that technician never mentioned a problem. I think I will go with a different company offering a special to actually have the A/C cleaned, since they seem inconsistent on the matter. Overall, it sounds like there are better companies reviewed on Angie's List.

They were pretty good. I talked to other people and I think the pricing was fair. I did have an issue with part of their work but they sent someone out right away to fix it. I would use them again.

We recently bought a 1964 house with radiant ceiling heat, and knew that with winter coming, we'd better get something more efficient in here quick. We actually found Miller's through their partnership with Costco, and got three other bids from companies found on Angie's list. If you've never looked at putting in a heat pump system, the information can be overwhelming! Our Salesman Brian was fantastically patient whenever we called with another question. He also worked with us to design a system that would complement our existing woodstove. Miller's had the best price out of our bids and we got a great and efficient Lennox system. The crew that came to do the install were great, respectful of us and our home, and did their best to minimize any inconvience to us. They also did all the required testing and paperwork so we would qualify for our rebates. We were very happy with Miller's and we are very happy with our new heat pump system.

Very happy with the value and service.
Description of Work: Took advantage of their new gas furnace special to replace our 30 yr old electric furnace in the attic. They were fantastic. They had to fix some things on the heat pump, too and didn't charge extra. They took care of everything with the gas company to install service, were themselves in and out in a day. Minor issue after building inspection which they took care of promptly.

Overall. it went ok. There were some minor "glitches" which required 3 separate visits within the first couple of days after the installation. We felt that these problems should have been found during the installation, but each time we called, Miller's sent someone that day to check and fix the problem. The employees were very pleasant and professioal.

It was a very good experience. I would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Notified them the morning off Jan. 14 that my heat pump was iced over. A tech. showed up that afternoon and after talking to him as to the possible problems I was convinced a new unit was called for and he agreed. The next morning Darell and Toni were at the house before 9am and by 2:30 had a new unit installed and the old units hauled away and the garage swept. They came in and explained what they had done and then took me out to explain. They did leave their broom by mistake and I forgot to ask for a receipt but other then that I was very pleased and they will be my maintenance co.

They were very good. They were very thorough. They came on time and they did what they said they were going to do. There were some problems with the equipment and they came out several times and took care of it at no cost to me. They were very responsive and timely.
