These jokers portrayed themselves as a couple of experienced guys that wanted to strike out on theri own. From the beginning we began to see problems. Their architect showed up to a meeting drunk. I had to fire the electrician becaseu he had a twelve year old working on his end. Lifelong (Justin Mattagliano) failed to pay sub-contarctors. They failed to convey the proper instructions to contratctors. The project which a competent contractor could have completed in two months took nearly seven. They attempted to bill us for overuns which had been genegerated by their incompetence and poor planning. Needless to say, we did not pay it and went to arbitration over it. The arbitrator granted a mixed award but in the end we paid less than the original estimate due to the probelems they created. I wouldn't hire these guys to build a chicken coop!
Description of Work: We have contracted with Lifelong to add an addition to our garage that included a mud-room set up for our dogs.

Response from Life Long Construction
This was by far the most difficult, manipulative, controlling customer to work with in 13 years of business. This project was completed!.. and signed off by the city inspector as completed. Project was completed 3 years before this bogus review he decided to post. This is a guy who prayed on two young business owners and wanted to save 16k. He created so many issues between subs and the overall flow of the project, because he wouldn't stop interfering and telling my subs and crew what to do almost every time he was there. He fired my hvac sub, started paying my electrician and adding change orders with him personally without telling me. There was never a under age worker there working under the the electrician, this is a complete fabrication. We hired One electrician for this project who was the same through completion. The only sub and contractor that didn't get paid was the hvac guy he fired and the prime contractor Us.. This review is full of exaggeration and fabrication. In the end we finished this project, signed off by the city inspector as completed. Eventually we had to take this guy to arbitration just to get paid. Still to this day he has not paid the full balance of the original contract he signed with us LIfe Long Construction LLC We worked for 2 months without pay and when we finished, This guy refused to pay us. He refused us a balance of over 16k that was not an additional charge in anyway, this was original signed contract price. His first reason for not paying was because he said his treadmill was damaged and making noise after it was brought back into the new sloped floor dog wash or mudroom. We tried to reason with him and remind him of the slope on the floor and he freaked out, and told us he wasn't paying anyone anything until it was inspected and repaired by his tech. After two months of no payment We were forced to take him to arbitration. We won but based on his bogus complaints, that were never brought up prior and never filed with LNI or reported to my bond company or recognized by the city inspector, he was givin a split win as well. In short he managed to deny us 8 thousand dollars on a 16 thousand dollar invoice. Not to mention the thousands of dollars in legal fees it cost me just to get that from him.

This company seems to consist of Justin and Clint, with occasional help from relatives and day laborers. The railings they welded literally fell apart within three days. They had spent weeks welding but had used inadequate heat in their welds. They showed no recognition of the inadequate quality of their work until I showed them how the railings fell apart. They re-welded with another welding device but I had to pay $2500 extra because they did not have enough funding to cover the costs. However, their re-welding was blobby, grossly uneven and ugly, and poorly painted. It rusted heavily within two months. I am spending $6000 with another company to replace all the welding done by Lifelong Construction. The caulking Lifelong did shrank and shriveled within two months. Furthermore, they overlooked cleaning dirty concrete and wood before applying caulk to it, and it quickly pulled away. Later they had to come back to replace the shriveled caulk but they cleaned only a small fraction of the concrete and wood, and this second caulking pulled away where they did not clean. Now I am ripping it out and replacing it myself, which is a lot of work. They overlooked handling drainage of rainwater from the decks and this caused rusting of internal steel support posts and streaming of rusty water that discolored the deck posts after it dried. I am now fixing this drainage problem they caused. Their painting was generally adequate but they left lots of paint spots on the windows I had to clean off. They dropped wooden boards and nails into the back yard and did not clean them up well; when the landscapers came they buried these and now this buried junk interferes with our garden and we have spent a lot of time digging up and removing the junk. They claim to be competent and experienced and they speak in a friendly and confident way. However, the work they did was incomplete and highly flawed, from design to clean-up. It is my experience that their efforts require someone else's close supervision and inspection.
Description of Work: Applied siding and wood covering to deck and deck posts. Added a stairway to the deck with a concrete landing and railings. Caulked and painted the siding.
