Henderson & Daughter

The estimate process was smooth, the price fair, and the workers were efficient. We got a discount for doing the work in winter, and were so very happy that the workers showed up on time, were CLEAN and EFFICIENT, and even put back up curtain hardware before they left. Amazingly excellent to work with this local company. The windows are great, no problem with them even now (3 years later).

They were very professional and great to work with through the entire process. They did not re-install some tiling around a bathroom tub window during installation. When I called to have them address the situation there were no questions, just "how can we make this right". They came back to our house and re-installed the tile and did a great job. No questions or conversations regarding if this was in the original bid. They just wanted to make it right. We have more windows to install and will be going back to Henderson and daughters. The only compliant was the timing of getting paperwork for the Energy Trust rebate, but they provided all the paperwork and directions which made it very easy to complete.

Please see above; Henderson and Daughter was a No-Show without so much as a phone call, email or text. We had rearranged our day to be here. I am surprised that with our easy communications nowadays, and the economy as it is, that Henderson and Daughter apparently does not value residential business, or is not professional enough to let us know if they have decided to miss their appointment. There are so many good window replacement companies out there (see Angie's ratings), why mess with a company that has gotten too large and/or too disorganized to care about individual residents.

I would like to recommend Henderson & Daughter. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best, I would give them a 9+. There are three reasons for this 9+. The first reason is the very positive experience my wife and I had with Ken. Ken was the person we interfaced with during the bidding process. He was very knowledgeable about the products he was selling. He was able, in a professional way to help us choose the best products for the job. Also, Ken was very helpful in following up on some changes we made between the bidding process and the actual work. The second reason is the men who came with the three new entry doors and two combination storm and screen doors. Russ, Sean and Andrew not only proved they were excellent workmen, but also proved they were interested in pleasing my wife and I in the process. The third reason is the information given to us at the completion of the job regarding the care and maintenance of our new doors. Henderson & Daughter demonstrated, through the people we met, that pleasing us before the job -- during the job -- and after the job -- was their goal. And they accomplished their goal.

Upfront they didn't communicate very well what the process was and how much work was needed to be done after the windows were installed. I had to have them come back to re-do their work. Although the people were friendly and on time it was just their communication of what the job is called for, how much is their responsibility and my responsibility. When they give you a huge price I assume that they would do the patching, painting, and finishing of the job but they said nothing about that. The windows were technically fine but there were a lot of paint-over spray which left me unsatisfied. There were rebates and such from the local government and they didn't explain it to me very well.

Great company. They gave me an accurate bid to replace the slider, and the installation crew of three was fast and efficient. And, they cleaned up carefully after.

From start to finish, a great experience. Henderson & Daughter were friendly, professional, on-time, and the quality of the work is excellent. It was a pretty small job, but I am very happy with the outcome. I will use them again.

I received quotes from three different company. They had the highest prices. I chose a different company. They were nice people.

This is the second time we used Henderson & Daughter for window/door services. Wendy did a great job of helping us find a rear door to replace our 1950s solid core door that had its veneer falling off and was inefficient as can be. She also helped us find a clear paned front storm door that would not obstruct our beautiful front door and also kept the cold air outside. Henderson also replaced an upstairs bathroom garden window that was leaky. Installer Keith and Co. came and finished all three openings in about 5 hours. These folks did a great job of tarping off the working areas and hallways and didn't stop until the work was complete. The doors and window look great, needing just touch-ups to interior and exterior moulding and trim. Thanks again, Henderson & Daughter!

We got quotes from several companies. Thea from Henderson & Daughters was quick to respond. She came out to take measurements and brought several catalogs. She talked us through the pros and cons of the different types of doors and helped us decide what was the best fit for us. She was very knowledgeable about the options as well as the associated tax credits. We met up with her later at the show room to finalize the order and pick out the hardware. We could look at hardware in catalogs but we wanted to really see the finishes and the weight and how it felt on your hand. We were a little disappointed that we could only see samples by going to the show room since it's on Vancouver but it wasn't the end of the world. Thea was extremely patient with us as we decided and even helped entertain our son while we talked. Once the door was ordered, the installation team was great. They were on time and explained exactly what they were doing. When they were finished they explained how to care for the door and even left a can of specialty glass cleaner. Later Thea called us to follow up and make sure everything went well. Over all we were extremely happy with the company. We love the new door and have gotten a lot of compliments on it. We'll definitely be going back to them when it's time to replace windows.

Everyone involved with installing our new windows was great. Ken came out and measured windows, discussed options and gave me a quote on the spot. When my wife had questions about what color frame to order, Ken came back over on a moment's notice with samples for her to see. The price they quoted was similar to my private contractor's quote, but they were able to get the work done in one day vs a week. They were less than at least one other window install company. Their time estimates for fabrication and install were accurate. We also had the interior trim replaced around the windows. The fact that they were able to finish the install in one day was impressive. The trim work was excellent, giving a more substantial look to the windows. All in all a very good experience. Highly recommended.

The sales rep new the product. She explained all the features and made recommendations to help us decide which windows and what features. There was no pressure, they were great to work with. H & D has their own fulltime installation crew, no subcontracting. The installation went very well. The windows and door were installed in 3 days. They were neat, cleanup after themselves, were very professional and their workmanship was excellent.

We were very pleased with their service. They did what they said they would and a little more. They have been very professional. The contact person from their office called several times to keep us up to date on when the windows came in. They were prompt and worked hard all day. They cleaned up nicely and everything went like clockwork.

Wendy from Henderson and Daughter came over and discussed our options and quoted a price on replacing three basement windows, changing one of them to an egress window, for our basement remodel. She worked a discount into the price for the windows not being finished on the inside, because the framing was not up yet in the basement, and they would not be finishing the inside of the windows. I was very happy to hear that the company had experience in replacing the same type of windows we had (old, single pane, cracked, stuck, and metal framed). They arrived promptly in the early morning the day of the work, along with the subcontractor for cutting the concrete around the egress window. The windows were installed in time for lunch. It's so nice to have windows that open and close easily, are not drafty, and look great! And the amount of light in what will become the basement bedroom has increased an amazing amount. We were given the option of having Henderson and Daughter dig out, install, and finish the window well for the egress window. I recommend to everyone, have them take care of this for you. It's more work than you might think. But we had an excavator rented for other digging duties and used it to dig out and install the new well, which saved us a little more money on the install cost.

They were perfect. They were not pushy. They let me take my time.

He explained to me that they didn't repair but replace windows. He was truthful enough to tell that the damage wasn't as bad as I thought and that it didn't really warrant getting a brand new window unless I really wanted to replace it. In fact he gave me detailed advice on how I could fix it myself and on how to care for my windows in the future. He left me a phone number of a trusted repairman that would fix it for me if I didn't want to do it myself. I don't want to get the guy in trouble for not pushing for a sale; I just want to emphasize the truthfulness of this company's employee and the trust that this kind of attitude engenders. I would definitely use this company when I need to truly replace a window because he has earned my trust and I am grateful for his thoughts. I recommend this company because they behaved trustworthy and straightforward and don't just try to "make a sale" if one is not needed.

They did a really fine job and I am happy with them. They didn’t use any subcontractors and I really liked that. The explained everything, answered my questions, made suggestions and everything was as it should be. They did a professional job and came right when they were supposed to.

H & D did great work. Thea spent time helping us to pick the right door as we wanted it as sound proof as possible, and we finally purchased a laminated glass door which is performing remarkably well. Two installers spent the better part of a day removing the old and installing the new. They specifically used a low VOC sealer to reduce the smell that we're sometimes alergic to. They hauled off the old door and cleaned up afterwards. I recommend them and will use them again.

They worked on high pressure. Windows were really big and were high up off the ground. It was a very difficult job and they did a really good job. They seemed to be very knowledgeable about what they were doing. They were very professional. I would use them again in the future too.

None of the windows were installed correctly in my rental house so they were all loose. I was panic stricken because I thought it was going to be terribly expensive. Thea came out, examined everything, and found out that the windows were still under warranty even though they had been installed 9 years ago. Without her, I would have paid thousands. She helped me with two rental properties and she was amazing. She followed up and she made sure everything was done properly. She just helped me out and the company never made a dime off of me. There was so much attention to detail and she is so knowledgeable about windows. Even though they didn?t do work for me, I recommend this company because they know so much about their business.

They were a stellar service and I was very happy with them. They were professional and the installers were perfect. They were on the money when setting up the cost and work expectations. They are one of my favorite contractors because they were a great group to work with. I didn't do a tremendous amount of shopping around.

Contacted Henderson & Daughter to replace my double front doors.? Considerable time was spent with Design Consultant Wendy MacVicar on design, which was thereafter rejected by my homeowners association (no fault of Wendy?s).? It was thereafter agreed that the company would replace my rather sad patio sliding glass doors and screen with energy-efficient doors.? Wendy was a true professional and a pleasure to work with?very knowledgeable, no pressure.? On the specified date, cousins Shane and Josh McKinney began the patio door installation and were thereafter joined by two more installers, Brandon Holman and Tim Newbury.? From my first contact with Wendy to completion of the job, there were no delays.? Everyone showed up either on time, or if slightly behind schedule phoned ahead to notify me.? The installers did fast, excellent work. All of these employees seem to enjoy working together and for their company, which was a pleasure to observe. Other than my homeowners association's restrictions. the entire experience for me was stress-free from start to finish.? These are true professionals, and I highly recommend Henderson & Daughter.

They did everything promised, from being minimally invasive of our home and landscaping, to clean up. They followed through when they discovered an error the manufacturer made, that I was not aware of. THey took care of a slight mar in a screen, that we did not even notice. And they helped us prepare the written materials for the tax credit, rebates, and energy incentives, including one for paying with a check (rather than a credit card) that we did not know of in advance. We are planning to return to them for additional work.
