Shaun is a skilled craftsman who takes great pride in his work.. After removing the old wood decking it was apparent there was significant dry rot. Shaun had to sister in six support stringer extensions where dry rot was removed. He needed to add more stringers required for composite decking. We were expanding the surface area of the deck, three additional support beams were required. Because the property has a steep grade insuring the deck was totally level was a challenge. Shaun has an amazing ability to visualize the needed changes and design structural support to correct any deficiencies in the previous design. He custom cut additional supports to prevent any bounce in the deck floor. Shaun is an excellent communicator. He explained what was needed and kept us informed throughout the entire project. He is a true professional. He showed up on time every day and work diligently throughout the day. At the end of the day he cleaned the area, stacked his tools and covered them to protect against the weather. I would highly recommend Shaun. Two of my neighbors dropped by periodically to observe the project as it progressed. Both are going to hire Shaun to repair their decks. In short, Shaun is a dedicated and skilled craftsman who takes great pride in his work. He is a great communicator and if he showed up in a business suit you would think he was a stock broker, attorney or CEO of a large company. A true professional!!!

He came by and did and estimate, seemed to know his stuff, and we hired him, we thought. He told us he would follow up and schedule. I had to follow up when that wasn't happening. Then on a couple days notice he offered to "fit us in." I wasn't available and told him the days I'm at work so he could figure out a time that would work for both of us. He responded that he would figure out a way given all of the "restrictions" I had given him. I asked him about when that might be. He said we were about three weeks off. I emailed back that if it would make it easier on him we could split the job into a part that opens the drywall for inspection, then schedule needed repairs later. He responded back that he had had a bad gut feeling when meeting me and should have followed it. He apologized for wasting my time. I don't know who I reminded him of, but I guess I'm a difficult customer because I need to schedule ahead when I'll be here and able to interact with his crew.

We love the results. It took longer than expected, but the end result is beautiful.

It went very well. They arrived at the time scheduled and quickly removed the old door, taking it away for us. They installed the new door, paying attention to detail to get it all right.

I've had Shaun work on a few of my projects from 2011 to 2014. He shows up when he says he will; he describes the process of his work and gives options; his estimates are fairly close; he does good work; no markup on materials. His prices are likely more than rock bottom contractors but it's one of those "you get what you pay for" situations. I'm not sure what more you'd want from a contractor. I've moved from town and can't use him anymore.

First, he was very patient when I had to do a backup-regroup after his initial bid. I redesigned the project. He came back out a 2nd time and gave me 2 options - one as a flat rate and one as an hourly quote. I chose the hourly quote and the work came in $1200 lower than the quote. At the time of the bid he was not able to tell me when he could start the job. He ended up starting the project only 2 weeks after I accepted his bid. And he completed the project in less than 4 days. He does high quality work and he does it efficiently.

All went well from his suggestions on door choices to the removal of the old door and it's replacement with a new one.

We did not have the work done, due to various personal reasons, but would definitely recommend Dietz Home Improvements to others. If the quality of his work is anything like his attention to detail on the bid, it would be a very good deal for the homeowner for sure!

We contacted 4 contractors to bid the job, Dietz was quick to come out to bid (within a day or two of initial phone call). After receiving all bids, we felt confident choosing Dietz because the price was reasonable and he seemed knowledgeable and professional. They were able to start work Tuesday of the following week and finished within 2 days. We are very happy with the quality of the work provided. Not only was the work good, it came in under bid! Perfect, they did exactly what they said they would do and when they said they would do it.

Mr. Dietz returned my Email inquiry within a very short time. I forwarded his Email to the property manager she sent him pictures and any information he needed about the gate. Mr. Dietz was most informative about building fences and gates. After he received her information, he immediately sent an Email to her breaking down the reasons why the gate was not working properly. His explanation was incredibly detailed. Because of his willingness to provide information, I am recommending him highly to members. I am out of his area of service, so there was no gain for him. Mr. Dietz IS one of the more professionals in the market place today. The property manager was delighted to gain new insight about why the gate was not working properly , he revealed how it was indeed shoddily built and not correctly repaired but had been patched up so to speak. Companies who offer professional advise like this without hopes of gaining financial gain is very rare, according to Labor and Industries, agents in WA state. I spoke with them during the time I reported the unregistered company who built the shoddy fence in the first place. Mr Dietz is the "go to man" at the onset if you are in his service area you are most fortunate, call him and save yourself a from a world of stress and money.

Dietz Home Improvements worked quickly, neatly, and professionally during this 2-week project. Even though the project included demolition and breaking up concrete, they made extra effort to limit the construction noise as much as possible. They were conscientious about putting up protective barriers to keep debris from hitting the windows, and they cleaned up the area at the end of each construction day. They took extra effort with the demo to avoid damage to the main house and replaced trim and siding in the few spots where it was needed. They built a new composite deck with a picture frame edge and seamless fascia boards using hidden fasteners. There is a slight slope on the deck to allow water to run off into our patio drains and, after several inches of rain, we have had no puddles, pooling, or any other standing water on the deck. We are extremely happy with the final results and will hire Shaun Dietz and his crew for future construction projects.

Dietz Home Improvements was responsive and professional from the very beginning. They promptly responded to my initial inquiry for an estimate, and their communication while the work was being performed was excellent. Once the walls of the house were opened up, we found a few other unforeseen and quot;surprisesand quot; which turned a 1-day job into a 4-day job, and they worked extra hours to finish before the next rain storm. Their rates were very reasonable for labor and materials, and we will not hesitate to hire them for future jobs of this type.

Pulled in schedule when an opening presented itself and got it done very quickly. It is a Solid good looking deck.

When, last Spring, we developed a leak around the window in our atrium, we called Dietz Home Improvements. Shaun was at our door early the next day and was able to seal the window area (temporarily). We decided to wait for dry weather to complete the repairs. Flashing forward to August - We met, discussed and ordered materials, and set a time frame for the work. Well . . . Shaun and company arrived - My wife, and I (and our dogs) departed (for the beach) - and work commenced. Dietz Home Improvements is our go-to company for anything that we want done around the house. This is the 3rd time that Shaun has done work for us, and we're already talking about having him back. He is amazing in that he takes our ideas and brings them to life. He is prompt, always arriving by 7am, when other contractors don't start until 9 or later. He also ALWAYS cleans up after himself daily, which is refreshing. He is so trustworthy that we have NEVER hesitated to give him a key so that we don't have to hang around all day. Awesome! We had used Shaun in the past to work on the decks in our home as well as repair some sliding pocket doors which had fallen off their tracks, and hang some other interior doors. Shaun is professional, punctual and friendly. His prices are fair and presented in writing before any work is done, so there are no and quot;surprisesand quot;. They were flexible in collaborating between the work my husband wanted to do on the deck and that which they completed; they paid attention to detail and their craftsmanship was representative of their pride in their work. I had Shaun and two other companies come out to bid on the covered deck. Shaun's estimate was right in the middle. One of the others came from a much larger company, who had the highest bid, but the aggressive sales pitch turned me off. I trust my gut a lot and Shaun gave off a good vibe and of course had solid reviews here. The funny thing is, when I started calling around I was under some naive impression that what I wanted would probably run me about 4K tops. My jaw dropped when the estimates came in from 6500 to close to 9K, but after seeing the materials and the work that Shaun and one of the guys who works for him, John, were doing, I feel like it was money well spent. We talked about ideaw and options and decided to go with a SunTuf patio cover. From what I've read online, and what Shaun later confirmed, is that they can be a bit tricky at times. Too much pressure when screwing down and they crack..not enough and they leak and that's unfortunately what happened the first time around. When I told Shaun he was as concerned as I was, he came back out and tightened the screws. The thing still leaked, so Shaun came out again and re-did the whole roof this time overlapping the SunTuf sheets a bit more. This seems to have done the trick, as we just had a downpour and I noticed no leaks. The thing is, Shaun is a craftsman and not only wants his customers happy, but takes personal pride in his work. He wasn't going to be satisfied himself until it was done right. He told me...you will have a roof that doesn't leak, even if I have to take the whole thing off and and rebuild you a shingled roof. Which would have cost more, but he said he would have ate the expense. Thankfully, it seems to be a moot point now. I love the look of the deck and cover. He took the time to wrap all the posts in cedar and it really came out sharp looking. Another thing, I work from home so I was here during the construction, which took about 7 days. These guys bust thier hump ...in both pouring rain and 90 degree weather, which we had both of while construction was going on. They were super easy to deal with, cleaned up the work-site at days end, answered all my questions and concerns and over all just really did a good job. I'll post some pics after we get it stained, but again...I'm super happy with the job. Shaun will be my first call guy when I need stuff done that's too big for me to handle myself. Nice guy but low quality work. When I pointed out a nail sticking out of a board, he told me how I could set it myself.. Thought that is what I paid him to do. I also had to remove a couple boards and redo them.

Absolutely great people to work with. Very good at any task that I asked them to do from replacing sliding doors to refinishing a bathroom. The house was a disaster when I bought it but is now working its way to quite nice and liveable thanks to Shaun and John. Worth every penny and more.

He was just good all around. He was serious, respectful, cleaned up after himself and if something needed to be changed, he changed it. The price was fair and we got what we paid for. He did good work and good work sometimes costs.
